Hi Monica I see this happening all the time at school. The kids can be so mean sometimes. They just love to put people down. I as sure he does still think of the over weight side of him. I still think I am big and I know I am not but it is still with me in my mind. I will be praying for him and you.

Don't worry about food now. You can diet later. Just try to not eat white stuff, Don't worry about Skipping or counting right now you don't need the stress. Just eat Meat and salads and you lc veggies. You will be ok till you come back to JUDDD. I am off right now too so you are not the only one having trouble with dieting. Just take care of your son and we will be here if you need to talk. Our prayers are with you and your son. Judy

Oh Monica, I'm so sorry you and your whole family are having to deal with this. I agree with Daisy. It seems as though it is particularly tough to be a teen these days. My heart goes out to him and to you. I hope you were still able to enjoy your weekend away.

I'm not doing any formal fasting right now. Other than I still don't really eat breakfast and stick with coffee/hwc most mornings, so I guess there's that as far as skipping, but I do get 100 to 200 calories in hwc in the morning. I haven't formally counted carbs, and that has been one of my problems making this work, I think. The past 3 days I've done much better. Still not really counting, but being pretty vigilant in keeping it to really LC things like eggs, butter, meat, cheese. And no, I'm not off alcohol. I decided I didn't want to do without it during my break. I was a little afraid that would just keep the diet fatigue/restriction feeling going in my head.

I am down 2.5 pounds this morning from when I weighed in the other day, so that's something positive.

Honey, hang in there. You are loved around here and so lean on us if you need to.

Good plan, Monica. Whatever we gotta do to keep going and not completely throw in the towel! And yes, we have to share cocktails together some day. I may be back there sooner rather than later. My Aunt is supposed to have knee replacement surgery, and I want to be there after to help her. Nothing written in stone yet, but I'll let you know.

Hope the rest of your weekend goes well, and DS is okay. Saw your FB post - crazy weather!!!

We had a great time in Tulsa! Now it is back to reality. Yesterday was volleyball all day for DD12. Today is work!

Happy St Patrick's day to everyone. I am wearing MY GREEN!!!!

Saturday, I had eggs/sausage for breakfast, mixed nuts for lunch, dinner was steak and Linda Sue's loaded baked "potato" casserole with cauliflower.

Yesterday: Eggs/bacon for breakfast, cheese/sausage for lunch, dinner was chicken, green beans and salad.

Today: Eggs/ham breakfast, steak salad for lunch, dinner will be chicken and some veggies. (need to go to Linda's website to find something to throw together!)

I need to work on snack options, incase I get hungry!

Carol, how is your LC going?

Judy - how is the weather in your area? Finally seeing an end to all the snow?

Meg - how's that baby girl doing??

DS15 seems to be hanging in there. Today he has plans to be at his girlfriends house all day and tomorrow they are doing a double date lunch! This has him very happy, for the moment!

Good Morning Monica! Really glad your Tulsa trip went well, and I'm very sorry DS15 is having such a hard time. I would imagine that teenage boys deal with a lot of the same issues and worries that teenage girls have. I wouldn't go back for a million bucks, it's such a hard time. It's good his school is involved and he may need someone 'neutral to talk to about stuff. Good thoughts and prayers going out to you.

Sounds like some really great LC food you've been eating Monica! I am sure enjoying it. I feel great on LC! My family was having Shamrock Shakes last night and I didn't get one - wasn't worth breaking out of ketosis. I'll be abandoning it for a couple of days starting Thursday evening, so I can wait it out until then - then it's homemade (by me!) apple pie! Mmmmmmm......

I'm so glad DS15 is feeling a bit better, and hopefully a lot better. He and GF seem pretty stable together - it is the same one, right?

Carol, is your 2 weeks up this Thursday?? Good to know. I will keep you up to date how it goes for me! It is the same GF for DS15. I think part of his "issues" are his inability to deal with his feelings regarding her. This is all new to him and he lacks trust and self confidence. I love the girl a lot, but she tends to be a HOT/COLD person. She either is very interested in hanging out/doing stuff/texting or such, OR NOTHING at all! I think it is the NOTHING at all times he really struggles with. It's not her fault, that is just how she is. This is all new to her too! Hopefully he gains the tools needed to help him function in a relationship! Thanks for asking!

tobelcer- thank you for your prayers.

Blonde - thank you as well for the prayers. how's the WW / Vegitarian thing going?

Girl, you know I can relate to what your kiddo is going through You could not pay me to go back to those teen years--while I had a lot of fun in mine, things have changed way too much... I really feel for them!

I am glad that he will have someone to talk to that is neutral. If he's willing to do it, definitely run with it! Bottom line is you know he's a good kid, he does talk to you and dh for the most part... I think this is the age where they start to think they know more than we do and when we tell them we understand or that we want better than what we had, etc.. they think we're full of it He'll get through! I think being a teenager nowadays kinda equates to fumbling around in the dark somewhat... they really haven't got a clue and they fake it til they make it just like we do a lot of the time!

Ugh, and teenage girls....don't even get me started! Tell him this is how they are. All of them. The wind blows the wrong way and they're in a snit... trust me, I got 2!

Sending you the best thoughts ever for your low carb endeavor...sounds YUMMY to me!

Yep, that sounds like it would be very tough to handle (GF being hot/cold). I've had BFs like that, well into my/our 30s and 40s.

My 2 weeks is up tomorrow, but I'm going to go the 2 more days because a family birthday celebration Thursday night, and there will be leftover desserts for a few days, so I'll enjoy them, hopefully w/o going off the rails. Then I will probably do LC again for a week or two and then back to JUDDD.

Hope you're having a good day......for a Monday!

what's kinda "nice" (for lack of a better word---beneficial?) about them doing a therapeutic setting is that they gain the tools to learn how to communicate and work through issues quickly. To which I think gives them an edge later on in life when it comes to dealing with people and situations. Just my .02 anyways. I know my DS is actually thankful for having the outlet and a way to grow from this.. I see it even in his interactions with us and how he chooses his words and how to react to certain things. It will all be good for your kiddo!

You are such a smart momma. Many many mommas of a son would just blame the girl and have done with it. This is fantastic.

Adolescence is horrible - I remember all of it! Arg!

Thanks for all the input! It means a lot to me. The therapist has suggested meds or this brain/soundwave treatment. If DS15 is willing, I think we are going the brainwave route. It is less invasive and has much less side effects.

Had a good LC day yesterday. Enjoyed a OMM with my eggs this morning.

Yesterday had:
Breakfast: eggs/deli ham/cottage cheese
Snack: nuts
Lunch: steak salad
Dinner: broc/cauli with chicken and cottage cheese.

Today:
Breakfast Eggs/cheese/OMM
Snack nuts
Lunch: steak salad
Dinner: Not sure, possibly chicken salad (with mayo) and pepperoni chips?

We have to go to the grocery store tonight, so who knows???

What is OMM? I feel as though I should already know, but my brain fog is stupendous!

You are doing great!

The recipe for that cauliflower bake is very simple:

1 pound cauliflower
1 lb sausage
8 oz cream cheese
handful of shredded cheddar
season to your taste

I used fresh cauliflower so I cut up a medium sized head and cooked in water until tender. I don't like crunchy veggies (unlike most other smart people! lol). Then I had some brats in my freezer so I thawed them out and squeezed the ground pork out of the casings to use. Fried that up in a pan.

Placed the fried meat, the grease from the pork, the drained cauliflower, the cream cheese, and I used 4 slices of pepper jack yesterday. And the turmeric! lol Way too yellow. Yish!

Bake at 350 for around 30 minutes until bubbly. It is very filling and yumm.

OMM - one minute muffin

1 pat of butter
2 T ground flax
1 egg
1/4 t baking powder
shake of salt/shake of splenda

I use a round small bowl (so I get a muffin type look). melt the butter. Then combine the other ingredients, mix well, put back in microwave for 1 minutes 40 seconds. Once out, I flip it, so it doesn't stick to bowl. I then pack it and take it to work with me to eat with my 2 eggs. It's like toast/muffin or such!

I love that cauliflower bake. I think I will have to make that. That could easily be my MAIN coarse!

Have you gone low carb? I'm week two into keto and besides the weird breath, my body smelling differently, and the morning headaches, it's great!

I'm trying to cycle my calories a bit too. Not exactly like JUDDDDDDDD (how many Ds?? ), but just shaking it a little to try to fool this old body. It does not like to lose weight. Not as fast as I'd like anyway. What an impatient brat I am.

Daisy, yes I have switched to LC for a bit! I am thinking till 04/19, which will mean I have lc'd for 5 weeks. I needed a change and help gaining my respect back for JUDDD. I am not counting calories, not really even counting carbs, I am just eating whole lc foods. I needed a change for a bit and thus far, I am enjoying it! I don't know really anything about KETO eating. Is it just restricted LC?

Yesterday was a good LC Day. Last night I made Linda Sue's Italian Casserole and some cheesy crack slaw. I probably nibbled a bit too much as I was making. That was my dinner. Both dishes are amazing. I would suggest them to all! Even NON Lc'ers!

Last night:
Dinner: Quest bar, cheesy crack slaw and sampling of the Italian casserole.

Today:

B - 2 eggs/cheese/OMM (made with almond flour and flax)
S - nuts
L - lettuce salad with chicken.
D - italian casserole

Thus far, I am totally enjoying my LC options. I even picked up some pork rinds to have some "nachos" with the family later this week!
