Just do it already!

Given some thought to the advice and support I have been given lately here at LCF and need a place to track my thoughts and progress.

Week 1 goals:
20 grams or less of carbs
Exercise- moderate walking 3-4 days Weights 2x

Do my best and don't wallow (thanks Steady) in any mistakes!

Mon- Walk
Tues-Weights
Wed- Walk
Thur- Walk
Fri- Rest
Sat- Weights
Sun- Walk

steady 04-16-2012 04:11 PM

I am here to cheer you on!

Looks like great attainable mini goals, just keep it simple. Don't let yourself get down if you of a little over on carbs or miss a day walking. Just keep looking forward.

How are you feeling Jeanie? How the diet going?

jeaniem 04-20-2012 02:24 PM

Thanks for asking! I have been back on my Wellbutrin for a few days which has helped a lot mood wise. Eating has been good but I am already getting nervous about a few different events coming up that revolve around food. I have in the past been known to forgo all the crap while at the party, only to blow it after getting home!

jeaniem 04-20-2012 05:23 PM

TGIF!

jeaniem 04-21-2012 02:56 PM

6 on plan days!!

steady 04-21-2012 04:21 PM

Awesome! So proud of you...you can do this. Maybe I am one of the few, I am so glad you are on meds again...you NEED to be happy to tackle other things in life...like diet and weightloss. Sometimes we all need a little help, we need to take advantage of it more. Also if you decide later you want to wean of meds, you could tackle that after you are comfortable with your diet and weight. One project at a time, one day at a time... Nice job, Jeanie!

What does next week have in store?

jeaniem 04-21-2012 04:44 PM

Next week hmm. I'll probably keep workouts the same,or maybe add one weights day and take out a walk or maybe even a cardio/weight combo workout. How's that for commitment:laugh:

I want to give my food more thought. I found myself annoyed and wondering if I am doing the right thing today when hubby and I ate at 5 guys at 11am., he ordered the burger, fries and coke and stayed full all day while I was hungry not even 2 hours later after my bunless burger and water.

steady 04-21-2012 07:31 PM

I agree about the exercise...keep it the same. It is quite a challenge to keep up. the hunger after a "decadent" meal happens to me all the time...don't worry about him and more importantly don't feel guilty; take your hunger for what it is...you are still off balance, besides most men never had that emotional connection to food. We could certainly learn something from them. I often eat a few hours after eating out, realize you still had less calories than him. One huge things to think about is, if you had another bunless burger or say something else low carb, would you have been so satisfied you could wait til dinner yet not feel too full. Also think about having just having one regular burger (bread, ketchup, and all) been more satisfying yet not feel guilty. Forget about low carb for a minute, just think about what you, your body really wants. There is nothing wrong with wanting the whole burger. In fact, I been dealing with an similar ongoing hankering...I decided we are going to 5 guys...I am getting a bunless burger, but I am going to make sure DH order a double with cheese and the works....I am going to have ONE BIG bite (bun and all!). I want it, but don't want all of it. This is the happy medium...I don't know how many calories, carbs, fat, etc. , but I do know it is what I WANT. I will have it and move on, knowing I can have another bite again. I couldn't always do this, but doing it without guilt makes it much easier to move on and get back on plan.

In the situations I just want more food after eating out, I usually do the old reliable celery and carrots with a serving of dressing, something dippy, or spreadable. Trying to keep the calories low yet still be satisfy whatever, I felt like I missed.

jeaniem 04-22-2012 07:48 AM

You know it's funny, years ago when I didn't diet a meal like DH had would have filled me up for the whole day! The problem is I don't think his meal was healthy, also although full I would have felt lethargic most likely. I think your right maybe it was just not enough food. I ordered the small burger, later when I was munching on celery DH said the same thing.
Five guys is great, but there aren't any sides to help fill you up. We choose to go there when the weather is nice and walk to and from, so we get some time together and exercise.

Eating was fine today, but no exercise. Felt really dizzy from my Meniere's and left work at noon and came home and slept until 3:30pm! Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Tomorrow will be a challenge as there will be a carb fest at my Mom's 69th birthday. I am making and bringing a chef salad.

steady 04-28-2012 09:23 AM

Love chef salads...for some reason I am one of those that if I brings something to a potluck and then I just stick with it because I know it is safe. Family gatherings are tough those...just a taste, a little piece, etc. Make conscious choices and no guilt for what you've eaten, LC or not.
Do your best to focus on your Mom and her day. It will make it easier to avoid pitfalls. Enjoy!
