Day 1-High fat/low carb
Day 2-Lower fat /low carb
Day 3-Pure Protein day
Day 4-High fat/low carb
Day 5-1 meal day- CAD style 1 hr. allowing carbs of choice followed by IF-ing the next day as close to 24 hrs as possible.
Repeat

Feeling like a need a little structure and need to set some exercise and weight loss goals.

DH and I had a big fight today (not like us at all), basically the problem is dieting is my life. I have even let housework go which is crazy as I work less hours now than I ever have. I feel really sad and know I need to do something about this obsession. At first I was really defensive and made oodles of excuses for my behavior but later admitted he is right. We have talked it through but I still feel really bummed out.

Well I am gonna get crazy. Went shopping today and bought sweet potatoes, small red potatoes, yogurt and have a huge pot of homemade beef vegetable soup cooking now. I know for sure junk carbs make me feel happier and fuller than low carb, but I can't afford to keep on eating them for health reasons obviously. I also plan to add a little sliced honeycrisp apple to the yogurt.

Fasted until 6pm then had a big bowl of the veg/beef soup,a honeycrisp apple and a few spoons of full fat plain yogurt w/cinnamon. The soup was made with beef, cabbage, onion, tomatoes and beef broth.

Food about the same but a little less apple and I strained the yogurt. I was disappointed that I woke up for a couple of hours during the night, carbs usually help me sleep.. well junk carbs do anyway go figure! Too soon to guage impact on weight and cravings.

Mostly IF-ing with one meal a day, sometimes a small protein snack if needed. Lots more energy, depression and anxiety are no longer a problem. Eating more carbs than ever now in my 1 hr. cad style meal and am still losing. Gonna keep this up unless things change.

I guess if I was still getting a period it would be coming soon. I feel sluggish, weepy and filled with pessimism. I ate an exceptionally carby CAD meal around 2pm, but for the first time since starting the if-ing and cad a few weeks ago it is not working for AS or my mood. I am trying really hard to just go with the flow and know that it will soon pass.

Oh boy and I though things will get better when I hit menopause. I have read that some women still get PMS even though they don't have TOM.
I am sorry you are dealing with this, Jeanie.

Sorry to hear that Jeanie. I think with CAD you really have to eat 1/3 protein, 1/3 carbs, 1/3 salad and if you want seconds for carbs you have to go for more protein in equal quantity otherwise it will not work.

Here and on another board lots of folks were saying they were losing eating whatever they wanted during the RM. Really don't know what I want to try now??

Jeanie, I am probably the last person to give advise but maybe try ditching the white sugar stuff. You would be better off with fruits or honey. Just think what the sugar will do to your body. I am trying the same approach with dairy because it is hurting my body. It is not worth it!

I know the white sugar is poison but when I crave/binge I am drawn to it.

Unfortunately I know what you mean. I have made a pledge today (maybe you read in my journal) not to binge anymore. I think if we become stubborn it can be done. Binging is just too destructive

Jeanie, have you ever tried PNP? I can't eat potatoes so I can't do it, although I am going to start tomorrow with butternut squash and see what happens.

I haven't tried it but I think I many have the book around here somewhere. Didn't you say something about Kathleen saying an apple would work as well as a potato?

This is what she says in the book:

"Does it have to be a potato? No, it can be any complex carbohydrate eaten without protein, like an apple, oatmeal (without milk or yogurt), a a piece of toast or even orange juice. You could do it with candy bar. But remember the slower the carbohydrate, the more effective the result"

She than goes on to saying that potatoes are highest on satiety index. You can also have sweet potato. She does not talk about butternut squash, so I don't know if that will be effective for me.

Of course we then have to believe it is a serotonin issue to begin with. I think it is because when I take SSRI's it stops me from binging, but after being on them for a few months the binging resumes. I don't know if that means I need a higher dose or not, but I can't stay on the drugs anyway as they make me feel lazy and numb to emotion. The low dose of wellbutrin I am on is supposedly working on dopamine levels and I never found it to help with food binging. I did find the PNP book I will read a bit later and see what I think.

Yes, we don't know if it is the serotonin issue for sure. There are so many opposing views on this. Some say carbs are need it to raise it, some say the opposite
