Glad to hear that you are back, Jeanie
It is nice that your sister is doing the same thing. You can keep each other in check.
I never tested myself if I was in ketosis. Some say it is not really that important. I am not sure what to make of this.

How is your exercise going? I have been walking pretty much every day for about an hour. I just got new Denise Austin walking DVD. It was only like $7 on amazon. I only pre-viewed it and it looks good. Different from Leslie. I will probably try it over the weekend.

I have been keeping up with my walks usually but really need to get back to resistance training. I am just so tired and depressed most of time lately,so hard to stay motivated. I probably need HRT but am hesitant to pursue it.

I also need to get back to strength training. I was just not feeling well physically to do but I think I am getting ready to start up again. I feel it is important part of fitness.

That's a bummer with the hormones. They can really affect us on so many levels, it is mind blowing! You would think in this day and age they would have better solution to this. I guess it is not that easy. You really have to do lots of research and that costs money and time. I am also so perplexed with my PMS and I am not looking forward to have to deal with different set of symptoms of menopause headache It is taking me years to regulate my hormones. By the time I figure it out I will be in menopause

Hope you have a good weekend, Jeanie!!!

Better today thanks for asking.

After another bad day yesterday eating wise and feeling anxious and sluggish I woke up today feeling like a different person. It is so weird I have energy no anxiety and a normal appetite.

Sometimes I feel like eating off plan has some benefit as long as it is no more than a day. I think there is something to carb cycling concept as long as you don't care that you will go off ketosis. I read that it helps to reset the leptin and some hormones.

I don't know if it is carbs that make me feel better or if my hormones just shift back to a more normal place. I really should journal how I feel mentally and physically for a while and see how things unfold.

Pulled out one of my old Leslie's that came with a waist belt w/resistance cords with handles- DH replaced the cords with a higher resistance cord for me so I ended up getting a decent resistance workout. Also did her abs/bridge section from Belly blast walk. Been a good day except some dizziness from I think COQ10

9/14- Calm and relaxed today, feelings of warmth but no hot flashes or anxiety. High energy no binge urges.

Jeanie- I never took COQ10, but I saw that someone answered you on main forum. That's probably what it is.
I have/had labyrinthitis so I know how horrible it feels.

How is your day going today?

Bad day have been hungry all day and eating junk ugh. Seems I got a one day break from the hot flashes and anxiety and today they are back in full force. I really don't care anymore, I am just going to try to eat well as often as possible and on the days that I don't eat well I'll just have to try to not get to upset over it.

Done beating myself up it is just food! I will strive to eat well and that is that. Who knows this attitude might even work better than striving for perfection.

I completely agree, Jeanie. Life is too short to stress over food. We can just try our best, whatever it is. I think the stress of constantly thinking of food and counting everything and than worrying about the binge and the guilt that follows is not worth it.
I think there will always be days in my life that I will lose control over the food, but I am not striving for perfection anymore.

So let's just relax!!!

Staying strong in my commitment to lose weight without the undue expectation that everyday I will be perfect. Looking back over the last few weeks I would say I am without a lot of thought doing calorie cycling with a mix of IF-ing, it's working well. I see little blips up on the scale, but they come right back down as long as I don't allow myself to have that old I already blew it defeatist thinking! I want to commit to exercising at least 30 mins a day 6-7 per week. A combo of walking/resistance strength training. I will post here daily for the accountability.

Thanks Laura. Just a couple more pounds of loss and I will be content. I don't care about getting so low anymore just want to be healthy and not have to diet all the time.

Oh, I know! Yesterday craving food like crazy, today back to feeling normal. I know it is annoying. We women don't have it easy with those hormones. In my case, at least, I think it is 100% hormonal. Hang in there, Jeanie

Nice brisk 30 minute outside walk with DH.

Morning food good, dinner was crap. I know what to do IF tomorrow til dinner unless I am truly hungry sooner.. doubtful. Just keep doing my best and the pounds will slowly but surely keep dropping.

Have you found a way to naturally up the serotonin levels? I really think there is something going on with my serotonin levels that makes me want the carbs. I get depressed, anxious and edgy and don't feel better until I give in and eat the carbs. Serotonin based antidepressants to stop me from binging so I don't think it it just in my head. I don't like the side effects so no longer take the A/D's , except for low dose wellbutrin but that works on different transmitters, so I have been told.

Jeanie, I believe hormones affect serotonin levels. I know that during PMS seratonin levels dip and that's why women have cravings. I think you are in menopause (right?) and I am sure there must be same dips in seratonin for you as well.
I never had such severe cravings before I started following low carb. I think by eating low carb I have lowered my seotonin levels. While LC works great for my wieght loss, it is simply not worth it. I have read lots of books on the subject and there are opposing views on LC being good or bad for serotonin levels. I think I feel best on moderate carbs, like I used to eat before starting LC. I never used to count carbs but I know I was moderate carb as I gave up grains over 12 yrs ago. So, that's what I am doing now, moderate carbs plus SLD. Second month on SLD and I am already feeling better. I have only recently increased the carbs but can feel the difference. I am not "cured" yet but the intensity of the binging during PMS has decreased I would say by over 50%.

Yeah not sure about serotonin, hormones, thyroid it gets complicated. I don't usually get a cycle due to my ablation, so it is all a guessing game until if and when I get some tests done. Based on symptoms alone it is pretty safe bet I am close to meno though. The anxiety is what had increased dramatically for me that in itself makes me edgy and depressed. All the natural supps like 5htp and gaba make me sleepy, but I am going to experiment with very low doses of these supps and see if I can get some relief.

Mixed feelings right now the 5htp (only 25 mgs) is making food less appealing but I just feel like I am in slow motion. The Gaba helped me to sleep last night I didn't even wake to use the bathroom like I normally do.
