Restarting on Dukan
I'm restarting my weighloss journey tomorrow morning on the Dukan Diet. I've tried every kind of diet going, some with more success than others. I did have much success when I cut out all processed foods and only ate "natural" foods - I made that up myself! - and I have lost about 16lb in the past year or so and managed to keep my weight stable. I have PCOS and am also hypothyroid so any weightloss feels like a big achievement.
I gave up smoking 22 days ago and haven't yet (touch wood) put on any weight; again a major achievement. Last time I gave up smoking, I gained 3 stone in 6 weeks - GP said it was because of not smoking, changed GP and turned out it was because the smoking had been disguising an underactive thyroid. Hopefully, keeping a journal will keep me on the straight and narrow. Being less restrictive than Atkins, I am hoping it will be easier to stick with. Also, I don't like fatty foods, I tend to lie awake at night feeling sick after eating too much fat and Dukan advocates low fat. I can only try. The stats shown (166.2/151.6/126) are my old ones, I will update them tomorrow. Last edited by Sophy'sMum; 03-27-2012 at 04:01 PM.. |

Day One
Weighed in this morning when I got up - have updated my stats. So far I've the Rosemary Conley Salsacise DVD and Tracey Anderson Mat Method. Tracey is a bit mad and talks about rib isolations - I have no idea what they may be but I do know that my rib cage will not move in the opposite direction to the rest of my body. Or it might but not under all the layers of flab.
I shall persevere as I am so sure it will be all be worth it in the end ![]() So far I've eaten 4 chicken drumsticks which I poached in water and herbs. Surprisingly they tasted good. Also 2 boiled eggs. And 3 huge glasses of water. I hope that my tea with skimmed milk is ok though. Dukan says you can have skimmed milk and non fat dairy so presumably he's not relying on ketosis. I am saving my treat of Oat Bran galette till later - I need to pace myself, the excitement might see me off!! Please feel free to post replies, comments, tips and any recipes involving chicken or eggs would be greatly appreciated. Will post again later. |

Day Two and wow I weighed myself this morning
I couldn't believe that I have lost 2.6lb since yesterday morning. I ate some turkey last night. It was really nice; cooked with soy sauce, oyster sauce and chinese spices. Wasn't too sure about the oyster sauce but then I came across a recipe for Luc Luc Beef in Dukan's book which used oyster sauce and is an attack recipe. Have decided to rotate with my toning DVD's - Tracey Anderson is a bit too much to do every day, even though she says that you should - well, she would say that wouldn't she, she is selling DVD's Will still do Rosemary daily as cardio is always good but also ballet as well. Danced around the kitchen with the DD's last night for about half hour....every little bit helps ![]() |
