It's a good morning, despite the fact that I let TOM win. I just feel so bloated that I sabotaged my efforts and stopped at Dunkin Donuts and got a Medium coffee filled with cream and sugar. Also got a free donut that I didn't need. So I decided to let that go and move on.

Motivation and Tips

Hi, godsbeloved

It sounds like you are doing well... that's good!

Per you request, I've been trying to think up some tips for you. Some of the things that work for me, may not necessarily work for everyone, as we are all different in our tastes, methods, cooking skills, and personalities. What I mean by that, is, is that I eat almost the same thing everyday. I think that would drive most folks absolutely mad, because the food would quickly become boring to them, and may lead to straying. I, however, thrive on this method. Having said that, there are several tips that would apply to anyone. Here are a few:

- A squeeky clean 2 week Induction is absolutely necessary, and so very important. It sets the stage for your journey. It switches your body from glucose burning, to fat burning. This results in a decreased appetite, decreased cravings, and your tastes will change. I love food now, that I turned my nose up at for my entire life. You will gain energy, and feel better, both physically and mentally. When I first started, I was afraid that I couldn't get through Induction cheat-free. But, then I got real with myself... it is only 2 weeks. Not that those 2 weeks are all there is to Atkins, but it is such an important first step. You will feel different after those 2 weeks! So much so, that it gives you the strength and confidence to continue your lifelong Atkins journey.

- You've heard this a million times, and will hear it about a million more... This is a lifestyle, and not a race. Try not to get impatient... Getting impatient indicates that you are looking at this as a diet, or a "fix", and it's not. It's the way that we eat now.

-Try not to weight too often. I found that once a week worked well for me. Our body weight fluctuates daily, naturally. I couldn't bare to watch the same pound bounce back and forth all week. I weighed every Sunday morning, and it was, what is was. I could get excited over a pound loss for the week that way... if I had watched it go up, down, up, down, all week, that pound wouldn't mean much. But, those pounds add up! I only averaged a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds a week... there were some weeks that I didn't lose any. But it's OK... sometimes it takes the scale a while to catch up with our bodies. My favorite way to measure fat loss was to keep an article of clothing that barely fit, and watch it become too big for me. That gave me a better boost, than even the tape measure.

- Embrace veggies. I don't know if you are a veggie eater or not, but I definitely was not when I went into this. And, my first time around, I did not make it a point to try new veggies, and I think that it led to my straying from plan. This time around, I went into it with an open mind, and tried all sorts of veggies. I LOVE them! More than half of my net carbs are always net veggie carbs. The more veggies I eat, the better I lose weight. Which leads me to my next tip...

- Move on to Rung 1 (more veggies) as soon as your 2 week Induction is up. You can hang around there as long as you like. I stayed there for about 2 months. On the weeks that I didn't add new veggies, I upped my carbs, in search of my CCLL. I did NOT lose more weight eating 20 carbs or less. I mistakenly stayed on Extended Induction, and my losses slowed. I moved up to Rung 1, and jump-started my losses again.

- If you haven't read the book yet, DO IT! I have read it several times, and still pick it up and turn to random sections to read. It is good to brush up on the info, and it is very motivating, too. Also, read the stickies at the top of the OWL Forum. They are a wonderful supplement to the book, and will really help you to understand the process.

- Stay close to the board! Read as much as you can, and post often. Ask any questions that you may have... we are all happy to help. You can ask them here, but you may get more plentiful and varied answers if you ask them in one of the other forums, like the Main Forum, the Induction Forum, or the OWL forum. If you have questions about what you have been eating, post in the Review My Menu forum... lots of helpful people, there. They may see something that you are overlooking.

- Trust the plan... it works.

Great post, Lyn. Thanks for sharing those tips. You've always carried your weight so well. Don't let nothing stop you this time... take it one day at a time and you'll be back in the 160's soon .

Have a good evening and I'm praying you'll join me

Almost time to clock out and head home.

First stop is Super Target to grab a few items so I'm prepared for Induction tomorrow.

Postponed Induction until tomorrow 7/21/12

I just wasn't mentally nor physically ready to start today. So instead of setting myself up for failure, I will start tomorrow while relaxing at home. I know the carb withdrawals are going to kill me, because my body is overloaded with junk.

Lyn. Have a GREAT first day on Induction. YOU CAN DO IT!

Oh, and remember, it takes only 72 hours to reach ketosis, afterwhich the plan will be smooth sailing .

Hi Meek, hope u are having a good weekend!

So far so good over here with Induction. I even had dinner out with my husband and kept it clean. Buffalo hot wings and stemmed broccoli was my only option.

So the weekend is coming to an end and I'm so proud of myself. I kept my word and made one of the best decisions of my life. I decided to return back to low carbing and strive for better health.

I prepared tomorrow's breakfast and lunch so there is NO excuse to go off plan. My husband is being very supportive, as he always is when he sees me making an effort to do something to better myself. He remembers how excited I was before when the weight came off and also how determined I was. I'm taking my health back by force!

Tomorrow's menu:

B/ 2 boiled eggs and 2 sausage patties
L/ Cheeseburger salad with lettuce cucumbers cheese and Kens lite Caesar dressing
S/ Cucumbers and pork needs on hand
D/ Not sure?

Good Morning

I woke up feeling lighter and full of life. I know the fact that I'm not bloated with Pepsi and all the other junk that I normally consume in two days has a lot to do with it. I feel so in control as I prepared my meals and didn't leave any room for excuses or error. My mom is going to be proud of me.

-2.5 lbs

I felt lighter this morning and decided to hop on the scale. I'm down 2.5 lbs and I'm :jumpjoy. I won't become a slave to the scale, but it does feel good to see the #s go down.

Yay! I'm so happy for us both!

Here's a little encouragement for today:

Quote:
"Cheats??????" NEVER!!!! You are just fooling yourself into thinking you are doing something sneaky or against the rules. We dont allow others to "cheat" when it comes to dealing with us, so why should we do it to outselves. It is a mental thing....

You are really not "cheating" but just making a CHOICE to have something that is off plan. No need for the guilt of "cheating" just know that the choice you made was not the smartest for you for that particular time & learn from how it reacted on you.

If you can't "live" while you become healthier, then you will still be enslaved to food. The choices are yours every day! So make more smart choices than poor ones

A few items I had in mind for our Key West/Naples trip.

Clothing and fashion has been my #1 priority to lose weight over the years. As time has passed on and I'm not getting any younger; my health is priority. However, I will be going on a shopping spree when I reach goal.

Here are a few items I have my eye on for our Summer quick get-away.
