Morning Julie! So happy to hear you found the reason and she had the surgery. Thank god she is doing well. You are right in not dwelling on what could have been.

Wishing you the best week ahead and that your daughter heals well and quickly!!

Hi Julie,

I have a few questions regarding losing a lot of weight. I started rxhcg at 245. I am on day 24 and have lost only 15 pounds. Not a problem. I feel great. My questions are...
What kind of HCG did you use?
How long in between rounds?
Did you stay within 2 pounds in P3 and P4?

Ideally, I would like to be 140 pounds. I am 5'6". I gained 80 pounds in the last 3 years. On Thyroid meds but need to get this off!

xoxo Thank you!

Julie! Wow--miss a week around here and all kinds of crazy stuff happens.

I am SO delighted you finally got a proper diagnosis for your dd, and especially glad that she does not have a chronic, debilitating condition like RA. Sounds like given a little "tincture of time," she will be completely fixed. Such great news!

Cheryl-love the Carolinas! I'm jealous of your fam. It is hard to be left behind, I understand that. New opportunities are all around though, so you gotta' take those chances and changes when they come. Cutting down to 3 days sounds wise. Once the weather improves it'll be so much easier. Fall will be beautiful and much more enjoyable!

Well, I lost most of my weight through Atkins, and only about 30-40lbs on hhcg. I used the drops at first but much prefer the pellets (intermountain). The losing is much harder as you get closer to goal. I have regained about 10lbs, but that's not hcg's fault, it's mine. I usually bump up about 5lbs btw rounds, which is why I'm trying to relose this recent gain w.o. doing another round.
I highly recommend the whole 6 weeks between rounds. Both mentally and physically. Refuel your body and mind, and let your skin and body tighten up before losing more. You will do great, especially w. that weight being recent and you now being on thyroid meds! Thanks for stopping in and I wish you much success as you continue on to goal!! Hcg really works and you will do great!

Thanks sweetie!! We're doing well. Looking forward to dd being up and around more, can't wait for her to be able to put weight on her right leg. 6 weeks is a long time, esp in the summer!!

Yes, it was very quick but so good! I wasn't prepared for all of that last week, but I too am glad it'll fix it for good. She will always have restriction in the joint (they don't reset it, just attached the thigh bone to the hip joint as if it was done growing) and will likely develop arthritis in that hip (has likely done permanent damage to the cartillige) in that hip, but it's going to be so much better than the constant pain. She's such a trooper!

Thanks! It's such a relief!! I try not to dwell on the fact that it could and should have been caught in Feb. and she'd be well now with no lasting damage from 6 months of ongoing use of that bad hip. Sigh. God has some plan in all of this. DDs doing great! Which is what I really care about.

So, moving on with our lives, dd is on crutches or in a wheel chair if we have far to go. The crutches are killing her arms and hands. I can't imagine fully non-weight bearing on one leg! The things I take for granted! Poor kid. She's really good about it.

I cancelled her camp in CA, but still am going to Palm Springs the week of July 20-27. We traded our timeshare so we'd be close by to the camp, so we kind of need to use it. Dd(10) will enjoy swimming and dd(13) should be allowed in the pool by then, but I'm not sure how we'll do getting in and out and around the pool yet. That'll be a challenge for a different day!

The hobbling around has drastically changed our summer. No more water park, or hiking in the mountains, or slide rock park in Sedona for her. Her cousins are coming to visit the first week of Aug, so she and I will likely watch them do all of those fun things. Poor kid!! I know there will be other opportunities down the road (hopefully) once she's off the crutches.

Dh wants to get a lawyer to sue the original dr. She is a sports medicine Dr who is an orthopedist. She's given lectures on hip injuries and is considered an expert. She x-rayed dd in Feb and should have caught it then. (this condition is clearly seen on X-ray). She didn't. We went back to her after 2 months of failed PT at her request, and asked for an MRI (which she didn't want to do). She failed to read that correctly, followed the report and treated the swelling in the joint-not bothering to look for the cause. She didn't diagnose her correctly then either. We went back a week later and she referred us to a rheumatologist!! She was "done" with us. After seeing him and getting the wrong treatment again (the injection) she went on to overuse that damaged hip causing permanent damage to the joint. LAst week when I went for a second (third!) opinion on her hip, I brought her old MRI and he actually looked at it. Saw the problem and said dd's comment about the pain being greatest when she turns her hip inward, is what tipped him off. He said that's the #1 symptom of this condition. She mentioned that to the other drs multiple times!!

Dh is looking for compensation for her permanent damage and lost vball career. She will not be able to play like she used to. She will always have a hip joint issue - the surgeon doesn't realign the thigh bone in the socket, he only secures it to the joint so it doesn't move anymore. It will always be in the wrong place. She will lose the growth from the top of her thigh bone on that side (2 more years of growth), will always have the restriction of motion and may have pain and arthritis from all the cartilage damage. She was a top player (even though she's really young) and even had a few colleges already following her. I am not sure how I feel about suing, but I do think this "specialist" should have caught it in one of the 3 times we gave her the opportunity to do so. She is supposed to specialize in sports injuries and is an orthopedist (bone), this is a relatively common injury to adolescent athletes. It's really scary she repeatedly missed it. I don't want some other kid going through all of this!

So, that's my current situation. I'm focused more on helping DD live her life on crutches, and dh is simmering with anger at the Dr. I too am upset, but more concerned w. her current health and well being. I am not litigious, and don't think we need to sue. I do want to make a complaint to the medical board and would like to see some additional training or some type of consequence for her negligence. I would love for her office to cover the thousands of $ we spent on the wrong drs and treatments this whole year. Dh wants them to compensate her for the loss of use she'll suffer down the road, and the loss of college scholarship we were anticipating. I think this is a bit far-reaching, but see his point as well.

Sigh. Definitely not what I had planned for this summer! Thanks for listening to me unload. Not sure who else I can drop all of this on.

I'm back to general LC. Weight was 161 this morning!! You don't want to know what I ate all last week. Back on the wagon, and looking ahead to healthier days ahead.

Awe Julie... So much on your plate! Your DD will do great, even though she is missing things that she should have been able to do.. I feel bad for her in that way.

I was on crutches for 8 weeks when I broke my ankle and it does get easier.. I promise. I was actually running on my cruthes fulling supporting my left leg... just being silly, but you do get used to using them so the arms and hands don't hurt as much. Many hugs to her though, this is a tough time. AND TO YOU!!..

I also think the doctor should be held responsible in some way. Good luck to you and your family hon! Take care of YOU too!

I wholeheartedly agree with DH. Her life will be altered because this condition was not caught and treated in a timely manner. And if what you're saying about the leg not fully growing on the affected side, and that means her leg will be shorter, you're talking about long-term back pain issues, too. Sue her and get the best lawyer you can find. Like you said, she got to the point where she was blowing you off, offended that you weren't accepting her diagnosis. And you went to her time and time again but she just wouldn't consider that she had missed something. A specialist should know these things backward and forward. That's what they do!

Swimming sounds like the perfect activity for her. Totally non-weight-bearing and will allow her to move freely. Do lots of swimming but have her move the leg as little as she can. Smooth, slow movements. It will be good for her range of motion. If the surgeon tells you something different, then forget what I just said.

Stand behind your hubby on this one. He's 100% right. If she was that good and had a promising career in Volleyball and she'll miss scholarships as well, limping and back pain, good God. This could affect her life in so many ways in the long-term. Get an excellent lawyer and don't delay.

IKR? Crazy here lately!! Dd is doing fine and we see the pediatrician tomorrow. Should clear her for a shower at least. Then a follow up w. the surgeon next Thurs and hopefully he'll clear her for swimming while we're in CA. Trying to talk dh into letting us do a day in Disneyland, since it's wheelchair friendly . Just wish it weren't so expensive!

I got the original dr's office to mail me the CD of the X-ray taken back in Feb and will see what comes of that. Dh is raring to go, and I'm still not convinced, but do think the dr should have caught it one of the 3 times we went back to her. It's so hard to keep an objective opinion when it involves your child. If it were me? No big deal! But for her? at 13? She'll never dance with ease, be able to cross her legs, run or walk w.o. restricted movement, will need a shim in her shoe all her life, have arthritis in that hip forever... stuff that could and should have been avoided. All the running, exercising, jumping on the trampoline, hiking etc that she did while that shot kept the pain at bay - caused irreparable damage to that hip. Sigh. The rheumatologist told her more exercise would help the hip. Sigh. Just the opposite was the case. Hindsight!

Anyway, back to LC for me. Bacon! Darned chocolate covered almonds will be the end of me!! Dd(13) is also trying to do LC, she really needs to lose some weight. The extra weight probably contributed to her hip injury. That condition usually happens in obese teens. Poor kid. The exercise is what helped her keep the weight at bay. Eventually she'll be back to the gym, but until then hopefully LC will help a bit.

I need to get back to the gym, but just don't feel like it! I supposed that's the age old problem... motivation is lacking. I have a trip home to PA in early Sept and you would think that would motivate me, right?

Julie--I would be so pissed too You are handling this with more relaxation that I would be able to. That is what I would hate all the more, the things she WON"T be able to do because of her advise. That just burns my behind I was telling DH of this story last night and he said "why sue"? And I told him why and said "we would do the exact same thing. imagine if it happened to our Amy". I mean, just thinking of those things just makes me sad. I know how it is though.....Amy won't be able to do everything either. She does have restrictions because of her diabetes, but as long as she watches what she eats and takes care of herself she can head them off.

Anyway, just wanted to send hugs to you

Oh man, I'd be like your husband and ready to make some heads roll. Those are some serious, life-affecting issues that the misdiagnosis caused! Someone should be accountable!

I'm another one like you. I drive past my gym about 4 times every day--it's on the main road that leads out of my subdivision. Usually I just pretend it's not there, but today I looked at it and tried to visualize myself pulling up, parking and going in. A baby step, perhaps? The sad thing is that my membership dues are automatically withdrawn from my bank account every month, whether I use it or not....

Exactly. These things sort of have a time limit on them. If you don't sue when it is the right time, you may have missed your chance. And I'm not talking about trying to profit from her injury, but to protect her future because of their negligence. She's got a long life ahead and there's no telling how a permanently injured hip and leg will affect her life and her options, as well as her level of comfort.

PS: Someone on a game thread mentioned that they couldn't see my Avi. At the time, it was a "mug shot." I changed it to Calvin the horse. If any of you can't see it, would you please tell me? Thanks so much.

Hi friends!

Thanks so much for your support, understanding and encouragement! It means so much that you "get" all of this. It's been a frustrating year.

We go back to the surgeon on Thurs and are hoping all has gone well. She's walked on her right leg a few times (out of habit and the pain isn't as bad as what she's used to) and I'm hoping that she hasn't bent that screw. that would be a disaster. Hopefully all is well, and he'll allow her some weight bearing and swimming

Weight wise? Well, LC hasn't helped me drop any weight. But, I did go back to the gym this week. I am one sore lady!! But, that's a good sign hopefully I can keep this up, even with derailments, and make it a lifestyle.

So, that said, I may need a real Hcg round to get this weight back off. I'm not sure how that would go, as I have a big trip back home sept 5. Gotta see if I can find some mojo .

I'll be around more soon, things are getting a bit more calm again.

I hope everything goes well at the follow-up appointment with the surgeon. Remind me; where is "back home"? PA? I forget where you're originally from. Maybe having that "September 5th" date will give you the mojo you seek. Goodnight, cutie. I'm wasted from work and now I'm going to rest. Saturday a cold front is moving through and will break this dreadful heat wave.

Hey ladies! So sorry I went missing! I've been in CA for the past week-hot and humid in palm desert overate and am stuck in the 160's. sigh. I reall am glad things are a bit quieter for us, but dh's borer and his family (6 total) arrive tues for a week. So, I'll be busy cleaning and caring for the crowd. Pulled a muscle in my back last week, so no gym for a bit.

So, that is my quick update, hope you're all doing well!

Gosh darn Jules no fun to have a back injury. I got one last summer, and didn't exercise for a year. Now, I've done at least a mile a day walking for the last 28 days! Praying for you my friend!

Have fun with your family. Don't stress. Eat as healthy as you can, but enjoy! You'll get it back in line, you always do. You're my inspiration!

Wow, Jeanette. Just looking over your stats in your siggy. Holy smokes, woman. Did you really stay that rock-solid in your 2-lb window during P3 and P4? Did you do all those phases with each round or did you cycle back into P2 without doing P4? I don't want to hijack Julie's thread but I don't think she'd mind if we did. I also want to know if you did the Simeon's protocol, used real hcg (vs homeopathic), etc. You can PM me if you'd rather. But I need some inspiration of my own.

Julie, so glad you checked in with us. Terrible that it's humid out there in the desert! I think it's because people move there and plant grassy lawns and plant trees and things that have no business being in the desert, then they have to water those things on a daily basis or they will die. That's a lot of moisture in the air. Just my theory.

I hope you didn't injure yourself too badly. Is there a pool you can swim in while out there? That would be great for your pulled muscle and just to get relief from the heat. I saw an above ground pool yesterday and I wished so much I could knock on their door and work out a deal to swim in it right then and there. Wish I could talk my landlady into letting me get one. I have gotten the final answer though. I've asked her twice. Don't dare do it a third time.

You're going to be busy come tomorrow! I hope you have a wonderful time out there. Stay cool, cutie. And like Jeanette said, you always get the weight back off so don't sweat it. Try to pop back in here when you have time!

Julie won't mind the thread-jack. She's super sweet!

I've had my ups and downs, and I've been up as much as 9.5 once. I have followed the maintenance protocol pretty vigorously. I never really did add back sugars/starches (except when I occasionally splurge). I followed the required length of time between rounds (sometimes going a few weeks over). I used the traditional protocol with the limited meats and veggies, and I did the melba/grissini. I used real hcg via injection from my doctor's office. And finally, here's me giving you a swift Just teasing! LOL!

Correction Days Compiled By Jeanette Reese Norman, Created by my LCF

One thing I learned (finally) when doing the hCG protocol is maintenance. Even though I learned this during the protocol, I think others might benefit from the same rules. The rules for maintenance are simple and firm.

1. Note your target weight.

2. Weigh daily. You have a +2 pound window.

3. If at any time you are MORE than 2.0 pounds over your target weight, do a Correction Day. If the correction day does not help you lose to your target weight, then alternate your Correction Day with a Clean "P3" Day until you're back in your window.

Correction Day Choices (Coffee or Tea is fine with cream)

#1 – No breakfast or lunch; Big steak and an apple or tomato for dinner

#2 – Eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner (prepared any way, with fat and no added cheese)

#3 – Protein day (meat and eggs all day)

#4 – Nut day (only nuts)

#5 – Burger over easy (eggs and burgers all day)

#6 – Thigh Day (chicken thighs all day)

#7 – Greek Yogurt & Berries Day (up to 24 ounces sf yogurt and cup of berries)

#8 – Protein Shake Day (3-4 shakes)

#9 - Bacon Day (pound of bacon)

#10-Cheesecake/Bacon Day *Recipe Below (3 pieces with about 6-8 pieces of bacon)

Clean "P3" Day

From Shelby, "no carbs, dairy, nuts, or artificial sweeteners." Just P2 foods, larger quantities, added fats in the form of real dressing, avocados, olive oil, etc. For today, drink some water with lemon or apple cider vinegar or both."I got this information as a "veteran hcger" LOL and from my awesome friends on the LCF HCG forum.

Allison's Cheesecake Easy Fridge Recipe:
Serves 8

1/2 c heavy cream

1 packet unflavored gelatin (*or flavor of choice)

1/3 c boiling water

1/3 c cold water

2 packs cream cheese, cut into pieces & softened

5 packets of sweetener to taste

In small bowl, whip the heavy cream w/ 2 pks Splenda until soft peaks form. Set aside.

In a large bowl w/ high sides, mix the gelatin and sweetener w/ boiling water until dissolved.

Then stir in cold water. With mixer, slowly beat in cream cheese, after all is added in beat at Hi speed until smooth.

Carefully fold in whipped cream. Use spatula to scrape mixture into pie pan & spread around.

Refrigerate several hours or overnight to allow gelatin to set.

*to change this to keylime pie: substitute sugar free lime jello 1/3 cup of hot water and 1/3 cup of cold water.

Thanks Julie, you're an

Wow, Jeanette! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions in such detail. I copied and pasted it into an email for myself so I can always refer back to it. I wonder if doing the real HCG injections and following the protocol is part of why it worked so well for you. I wish I knew if I was going to be just as successful following the "rogue" hHCG pellet plan. All I've ever done is "rogue it." It works when you work it, as they say. But for some reason, I always lose my direction and I've regained.

It's been so long since I was actually firmly on track that I can't say "I always regain." I haven't done it enough times to say that. I am truly inspired by you and Julie and anyone else here who has come so far, pound by pound, inch by inch, mile by mile and can look back and say, "Wow! I can't believe that used to be me!" I came within less than 20 lbs of my goal when I started packing it all back on. And I felt so good about myself. So good in my skin.

I will "chew on" all you wrote in response to my inquiry and I will dig deep and come up with a plan. Thank you so much. And you're right. Julie is a doll. We love you, girl!
