Wow! What a project for you to be doing in the heat of an AZ summer. I hope the girls appreciate it. What a good Momma! Glad you're doing the hhcg and that it's helping with the hunger control. I'm on it as well but not doing anything as structured as a P2. I'm making progress and that's all I care about at this point. Just help me get out of the 200's!!! Hope you enjoyed your dinner out. Don't tell her that! Every Mother hates to hear those words. But we all say the same thing. I guess we can't help ourselves. We open our mouths and the truth comes out. Oh, well. Such is life.

Hi Julie! Hope you have a nice day today. Btw, I'm taking HHCG too...not any kind of plan just keeping the calories down and carbs down as well. I'll weigh in on Monday and let you know how I did. (Cals under 1200 and carbs under 100)

Yes, quite an undertaking. They're both thrilled w. their rooms and promise to keep them clean (that was the hardest part- cleaning them before I could decorate them!!) I know I didn't keep my room neat as a child, but at least I help them have a place for everything and show them how to keep it up. Hopefully they'll have little "sanctuaries" to retreat from the drama and stress of a adolescence . Hope you're doing well girl!! Don't overdo it at the farm .

I'm doing (or trying to) the same type of thing. You're losing well!! Great job!! I am not weighing everyday, but yesterday I was down 2lbs.

Fun, crazy and busy!! I'm skipping the gym, but still running way too much!! Sigh!!

Weight is hanging out in the mid 150's for now. I did have some "goodies" last night for dd's celebration and will likely have more on Fri, but overall I'm eating generally LC and healthy. The weight should dribble back down to the low 150's and hopefully it'll go even lower w. time and exercise. We'll see.

Dd 12(almost 13) came home early from vball camp today. She was diagnosed w. juv rheumatoid arthritis after hip pain and swelling for several months. She got a steroid injection in May, which helped for a while, even w. running on the treadmill, hiking in Maui and walking on the beach. But this past 2 days of camp were too much.
We went to the pediatrician today and she recommends seeing a ped orthopedic specialist. She agrees w. me that there may be something else wrong w. dd's hip. I don't think the arthritis diagnosis fits; it doesn't ring true with me. I think there is something else wrong. Frustrated and broke, I guess we'll go back to yet another specialist. Sigh. I'm so discouraged, more for her than me. She's a really good vball player, already turning college scouts heads at 12/13! She's got "soft hands" which makes her a good setter, and she's a natural leader which is why her coaches made her captain of her team this past year, even though she was the youngest on the team.

But, she's so much like me, sh has a naturally efficient and slow metabolism. Volleyball, and it's inherent practices, kept her in shape. She's up 20lbs from Feb. and currently weighs more than me and is an inch shorter. She's tried WW, but can't really wrap her head around all the variables and counting. She's going back to LC w. me after her bday on Fri. The ongoing hip issues aren't helping either. Poor kid. I was really excited she was back to the gym and playing again. I am praying that it's just a minor setback and maybe even just sore muscles and tendons that haven't been used in months.

Sigh. So, on that sad note, I'll go return more stuff to Ikea. We overbought and dd would rather have a loft bed now, so back the headboard goes and we're off in search of a gently used full size loft bed!! :roll eyes:

That sucks! I agree with you. I don't trust in simple, hasty diagnosis. Too easy for them to say it is "this" rather than to really find out what it truly is. Frustrating and like you said, expensive and such a waste of valuable time. May God bring you to the right Dr and may they find out what is really going on inside that hip of hers. Seems if it was arthritis, it would be in more than one area of her body.

Did anyone ever do a bone density study? Insist on one!

Sorry to read your post tonight but I know that God is your strength and will give you all that you need to see this through. Sleep peacefully, my friend.

hey Julie, so sorry your daughter is still hurting.. I know as a parent we try whatever we have to do, to make it better. I hope a solution is discovered soon!!

I have also added back HHCG to my day. Eating around 1000 or so cals, whatever I choose, but I usually resort to the tried and true foods that work for me.. I hope your day is going well!!!

Hey ladies!! Thank you all so much for your prayers, thoughts, kind words and encouragement. They mean so much to me! .

I go back and forth between just letting it go, and trying to find an answer for her. I emailed the camp in CA and am canceling for this year. If she can't hack 2.5 hours of indoor vball here, she won't be able to handle 2 hours of sand and 4+ hours on the grass throughout the afternoon and evening. Really disappointing. But, there are certainly worse things that could be happening and I'm encouraged that God has a plan in all of this. I just wish it were an easier path for her.

Love you guys and will be back later to chat and catch up with your lives.

I had a great weekend. I decided to stop taking the hhcg and just eat a bit for a while. I am up a tad, but holding on to the 150's for now. I'm not in the right mindset to really buckle down, so I'm not gonna' waste the pellets. I suspect eventually I'll do another round, but not quite sure yet. They don't "stick".

I cancelled dd's camp and am still waiting to hear back from them. She's disappointed (so am I) but I think it's the right decision. We'll still go to Palm Springs (we already traded our timeshare for the week) and just swim and hang out in CA for a bit. I think a day trip to the beach will happen . It'll be fun but not quite what we had originally planned. I can NOT complain, as it'll be nice to have a pool for a week . It's been really hot here lately (120!!) and I'm ready for a little relief ( not that Palm Springs is any better! ).

I'm not sure what's wrong w. dd's hip and I don't need to know. God is in control and has a plan for her life. I am just doing my best to follow Him. We're waiting to see a pediatric orthopedist to get a second opinion. Until then we're resting and waiting.

A big forest fire our here claimed the lives of 18 fire fighters yesterday. Such a tragedy!! I'm praying for those families and sobered by their sacrifice. It's nearby in a town called Prescott, where we usually go for July 4th. We won't be going this year, but am remembering them today.

Praying for your daughter and the upcoming appointment. I can't start another round myself because I have to get back in my window first. It's so expensive I don't want to pay to lose the same pounds. Anyway, I saw the loss of those firefighters in the news and had no idea it was close to you. Praying for those families. Sending hugs!

Thanks for coming by! And thanks for the prayer! I really appreciate it. Me too, not back near my window right now, but I want to take a nice long break until I'm mentally ready to go back. I also don't want to relose the same lbs over and over, but truthfully, if I can get back to my window I won't really need another round. I'm pretty happy in the 150's but would be happier in the 140's. . Maybe next week?
And yes, the tragedy was about 1.5 hours from where I love. Prescott is where I always go for July 4, but not this year . So sad .

Thanks! Yes, 120 isn't fun, but at least it's a dry heat . I'm already excited for Fall to come!!

I'm still off "plan" per se. Not ready to buckle down yet, but know it'll happen eventually. For now, I'm looking at it like a metabollic reset and enjoying myself .

Good to hear from you again, Julie! You're still in CA, aren't you? How are things going?

If it weren't for you telling us about those firemen, I wouldn't know it happened. Not sure how that is cause I do read the news headlines on my home page daily and I somehow missed it. How horrible and tragic and devastating. Men taken down in the prime of their lives. And their loved ones having to learn how to cope with it all. How sickening to even think about.

Well, enough of that. Have a wonderful time, wherever you are right now.

I'm home. We go to CA in a few weeks.

I got dd in to a pediatric orthopedist this morning for a second opinion. He looked at her MRI and listened to her, and diagnosed her with "slipped capital femural epiphysis". He is leaving for a weeks vacation this afternoon, and said if he was correct, she would require surgery immediately. He called to the ped ortho accross the street from him and got us over to see them. They did an x-ray snd confirmed his suspicion. She is scheduled for surgery at 7:30 tomorrow. B/c it's a holiday (also my anniversary) they need to admit her tonight.

So,we finally have a real, sensible diagnosis. After surgery she'll require several weeks on crutches, a few months of PT, but optimistically, she could be back to sports in 3 months. Although we're a bit shocked and not excited for a screw in her hip, we're relieved to have a diagnosis that makes sense and will get her healed.

I appreciate your prayers and support. God has been at work through all of this, even getting in to see this dr today. I trust He has a plan through all of this.

Thank God! You were so wise to continue to test and probe the "establishment!" It's so hard to do when they seem so big, and us so small, but our God is bigger! Hugs and continued prayers. Please keep us posted.

Good morning friends!!

What a whirlwind the past week has been!!

DD(13) was admitted to the hospital Wed afternoon and we stayed all night. That was a drag, but necessary to have her surgery done on a holiday. She had her operation yesterday morning at 7:30am and everything went well. She was in a lot of pain afterwards, so they drugged her pretty well. They finally released us around 2pm. She came home and slept most of the day. When she woke at 7pm she wanted to go watch the fireworks with our friends. Crazy kid! So, we did!! We were out to nearly 11, as our friends did their own fireworks afterwards. She slept well and is on crutches-not weight bearing- for 6 weeks now. We'll go to the pediatrician next week then the surgeon the week after for follow up.

The Dr was great and he said he likes to go back in a year after this surgery to remove the screw. I'm not able to process that yet, but am just thankful that she's on the road to recovery (finally!!!) and taking it 1 day at a time. She's in her recliner now, watching Britain's Got Talent on the laptop and we're working on keeping her still (not her forte!!).

Thank you all for your support and prayer. I really appreciate and am truly counting my blessings today!

That's wonderful news! I'm surprised he wants to go in and take the screw out in a year, but if he wants to do it, it's probably a good idea. No point in having metal in your body if you don't need it anymore. I hope this one surgery is all she'll ever need for her hip.

Glad you got to see some good fireworks displays. I saw a few bursts from my front porch but nothing monumental. I was outside and getting sucked on by mosquitoes so went back in and decided to watch any future displays through the window. They ended pretty quickly.

Have a wonderful day and keep that girl off her leg!

WOE: one day at a time!!

Thanks girls! She's doing well. The crutches are making her hands, and arms really sore so we're borrowing my dad's old wheelchair. Not for around the house, but will make it easier for here out and about.

Cheryl- on the moquettes! IT's been pretty dry here so not bad this year. hope all is well at work for you.

Debby-are you home? Glad you had such a nice ride and trip!

Dawn-thanks for coming by and for all the support.

Jeanette - indeed!! Praise the Lord!!

So, counting my blessings, amazed by God's grace and thankful for not having to deal with all of the possible disasters the mis-diagnoses could have caused. Practicing patience w. a slightly cranky 13yo, a disappointed and able bodied 10 year old, and a fussy dh who's on call and not happy about it. Counting is all joy!!

There you go! Amen to all of that.

Work is going fine. I'm cut back to 3 days a week, down from 4 but that only makes me happy cause it's so horrible here these days. It stopped storming and raining but the heat and humidity are never-ending. Looks like I'll be driving over to my Mom's place to water her tomatoes one more time before they get back on Monday. They're in NC and driving north to spend a bit more time in MD before heading home. I miss them! It's awful when people leave you behind. Now I know how it must have felt all those years ago when I moved to TX.

Hugs to all of you tonight! Hope the rest of your weekend is great.
