thanks so much, ladies. Ange...I swear I don't *feel* as old as I am, but no matter how many times I do the math, it still comes out to 53. Somehow...I just never imagined myself in my younger days actually being any number that started with an 'f'

I had been thin my whole life and then WHAM...I gained all the weight in like..less than 3 years, and the whole time I was working as hard as I could to lose...just wasn't happening because I was following the American Diabetes Association dietary guidelines and it was killing me. But that's a rant for another day. I'm just happy to have found a sympathetic physician, a good plan, and a board full of delightful new friends to share cyberspace with.

Diva- You are a beautiful woman and you look fabulous, and loads of talent too!!!!! You should be very proud of yourself!!!
Rachel- thank you!!! I think strong women find each other, I think that is why the little group is so good, if you aint honey badger strong you are not in it for the long haul!! I loved Ang from the beginning, hell I have been with Ang longer than some of my husbands, LOL Ang make the damn pancakes, I am totally picky and loved them they are not carby in the traditional way, the are just damn delicious, the vanilla powder is the key you must have good vanilla protein powder and that egg powder! I whipped the little bit left over this morning and they were still delicious and Tony loved them.!!!! Anyways hope you are having a good Sunday!!!

Oh, Diva! I was right! you are still smokin hot on stage! You look just glamorous and beautiful. Brava! Brava! *hands you a boquet* Thank you so much for sharing.
Amber, longer than some husbands. I will make the pancakes, but not until I make regular pancakes for the guys. Every couple of weeks or so I do that. I donIt want to get all crazy with pancakes, I have a baaaaad history of going bananas with yummy sweet low carb stuff, and I don't want to go down that road again. NO WAY! |

The best thing about these pancakes, Ange...even though they're really yummy...the entire recipe has 346 calories, 50 grams of protein, 11 grams of fat, and a negligible amount of carbs. It's almost impossible to screw yourself up with even the entire recipe (which I can't eat, not that I haven't tried!)

WOW Diva!!! You look amazing on stage!!! Very cool.
The pancakes sound pretty yum. Wonder if the vanilla powder i have is good enough for them to be tasty. Dinner went well, I had my chicken wings as planned and I was full - not snacky at all tonight after that great big lunch. |

cara, I would try your protein powder...I'm sure it will be yummy. If you like the way it tastes for other stuff, I would think it would make good pancakes! I think I might add some cinnamon and nutmeg to my next batch. Something I've always enjoyed is cinnamon toast...and cinnamon pancakes sound like a pretty good idea to me.

Well, Diva, I am certainly a classy broad. (don't look at me sitting here with unbrushed hair and sweater full of dog hair.) And I will try the pancakes and see if they make me a crazy eating machine. Always on the look out! I will not be derailed by my own self!
Cara, you can report anything you like here! I'm glad your chicken was good and you are not snacky! I love that! Maryo!mmmm cinnamon pancakes. STOP IT!! Hiya Kitty! |

Okay...Hooligan, you're my new best friend
Thanks y'all. It's fun to feel pretty again after dragging myself around for the last few years. There's a 'before' pic on here somewhere...not only did I look fat, I looked/felt like I was dying. The moral of my story: Looking cute is better than looking like you're dying. Heh. |

Ange...meant to ask where you buy your wings...or do you make them yourself? I'd love to have a bag of frozen ones around for quick dinners if I knew which were good. I like em pretty spicy.

Diva, the wings are made by Foster Farms and are in the freezer section-- they are in all the stores up here, and as they are a national brand I assume they are down by you, too. I got mine at costco-- I always have a big ol' bag of them at the ready! I tried to go the homemade route, becasue I'm all anti-chemical-n-stuff, but dude, I just could not get my act together and do it all and be a super all natural woman, so something had to give, and the homemade wings had to go-- and frozen wings became the lazy meal when I don't feel like cooking. If you see me eating wings (or eggs for dinner, ha ha) you know I'm being LAZY and don't want to cook.

thank you! I shop a LOT at Costco (I'm addicted to San Pellegrino water and buy it by the case there) so I will look there! That's where I get my nuts...I eat a lot of almonds, walnuts and pecans, all from Costco.

Hi Kitty! I KNOW, RIGHT? I should have spanked him. Abandoning bacon should be a spankable offense. Maybe call the cops and put him in a Scared Straight program.

Oh Ang, I'm with you on the Costco addiction. I love their diet green iced tea, but it's on my list of forbidden foods right now because of artificial sweetener and caffeine. Sigh. But I'm still headed that way later today for gas and all my other Costco goodies.
Your meal pictures just inspire me to think about learning to cook well. They look sooooo yummy. Now if only I could get someone to prepare them for me. . . My meals are usually some cut up frozen meat ('cause I forgot to thaw it) and veggies thrown in a pan and cooked so some of it is near raw and other parts are burnt. They don't look nearly so pretty on the plate as yours do. |

Oh, Maryo! No! I forget meat in the feezer all the time. There are better ways to deal with it! The frozen chicken breasts and frozen fish fillets and frozen wings can go right into the oven frozen, no problem. The frozen hamburger chubs get a hot water bath for an hour or so before use, and that also works brilliantly. If you must use your stirfry method, cook the meat FIRST, until it is almost ready, and then add your veggies. Veggies need so little time to cook up. (Well, except rutabaga, that stuff takes FOREVER to cook seems.)
Anyway, cooking is easy. If you have a recipe, just do what it says. If you are just learning, just start following recipes, and then you just get the hang of it. I am no great cook, I just pile stuff together and chow down. If you just want to learn some cooking basics, maybe you should google "cooking 101" and lots of helpful websites will pop up. Hi CeeCee! Thanks! Diva! Uninahitable! Thanks, Meg! It's time for you to move. No Costco? OH NO!! Thanks, Kitty! Oh, Amber, I most certainly do need smaller jammies, but not sexier ones. My husband can't keep his hands off me as it is, with sexy jammies I'd never get any sleep! ![]() Last edited by glamazon; 01-16-2012 at 07:30 AM.. |

Good Morning
I couldn't imagine living without a Costco, either. If Costco doesn't carry it we don't eat it or drink it!! Not quite that bad, but almost..... Busy day today Isn't it nice when clothes don't fit any more and are falling off of you. That is the best measurement of how one is doing diet wise, I think. Have fun creating a new period dress for yourself, Angela. Hugs to ALL ![]() |
