Ang- wow that is exciting, that is what you needed to get your juices flowing!!! Can you believe Donna Summer is gone, God that still makes me sad, what makes me sadder is at Halloween when Cee Cee needed a costume and she didnt know who she was, oh to live the 70's again, all that polyester and disco balls!

I keep wanting to ask you if you watch my Big Fat Gypsy Wedding? Dude you need to start making their gowns, they must pay a freaking fortune for these elaborate bedazzled costumes, since I am unemployed I can come and glue on the crystals for you that will keep our hands too busy to eat!! LOL I would love to be a be dazzler, that would be the greatest, the world needs more bling!!! I only know about this show because my husband the pervert thinks the girls are hot and look way older than 16, I said dude you have a kid almost that age, LOL That knocks him back to reality, but he does love the boobage, LOL He wants to know how a whole culture can have such big knockers, LOL

HAHAHA ang, you're like a middle aged man with a new sports car - except yours is marginally cheaper . Sounds like fun!

Oh ok, I never knew fainting goats were a real thing... thanks for that. I get why they bred them, but can you imagine trying to selectively breed for that? Strange bloody things.

Have fun with the new toy and your LC snacks.

I think I want to take up sewing. I was going to go the goodwill and see if I can dig up an old sewing machine there or buy me a new one. Not sure yet but I want a hobby.

Oh Amber- I watched that one day.... let me tell you. Ang you would make a FORTUNE on that!! And the one gypsy brushing her teeth with bleach!!!!! OMG!!! But it was fascinating. LOL @ Tony. Tell him you have enough for him to watch.

Cassidy, just one woman's opinion here (but a professional one). Sewing on a bad machine is really frustrating and not the same exercise at all as a decent machine. That doesn't mean the machine has to be expensive but Goodwill is likely to have crummy ones. In your boat, I would do one of two things. Either check Craig's list for a used Singer sewing machine that dates from the 50s or earlier. Singer diversified after that and the machines were never the same quality, even though they now technically own some very fine brands of machine, the Singer branded machines you can purchase now can be pretty frustrating. So...get a really old Singer (FABULOUS MACHINES). Also an older basic Bernina or Pfaff can turn up for a heckuva price on Craig's List. I just bought a perfectly new looking 30 year old Bernina with straight stitch, zig-zag, all attachments and a freaking awesome table with a lift mechanism and drawers from a precious elderly man whose wife barely used it and who was moving to assisted living for 150 dollars. That's essentially free for that machine. If you do find a deal on an older machine, have it serviced before you fire it up. They need to be cleaned and oiled especially if they have not been used for several months.

OR

Go shop for a very basic (not a load of stitches, embroidery or quilting options or other graw-doo) new machine from the following brands:

Bernina
Janome
Babylock
Pfaff

There are other good machines from different makers, however, most other *low end* machines are not great quality. The above brands are pretty awesome all the way down to the most basic machine they sell. Also, if you buy from the above dealers, most will allow the retail price of the machine you purchase as a trade-in value if you end up being a super-sewing wiz and want to upgrade in a couple of years.

HAVE FUN...it's awesome

What do you guys think of the Husqvarnas? I have one of those I got from my grandmother. I have not had time to do much with it lately. I did get a few aprons made though .

Oh, and aprons are the perfect thing to make out of old cute dresses that are too big for you hot skinny butts after all that low carbing. I actually took a dress that was too small and short (I like my clothes knee length or lower) and chopped it in half, stitched up the sides, and added apron ties to it. It's one of my favorite aprons. I still have the back half that I want to make into another apron. I have kind of a thing for aprons .

you bet...seriously...any questions, just PM me. I totally hate the idea of someone deciding they can't, or don't like to, sew based on having to wrestle with a tricky machine. It is not fun.

So...how many thread colors can you do at one time? How long would a 10000stitch embroidery take to complete? What would you charge per piece? I need someone who can do 12 colors of threads.

Congrats on the new baby! Yay for havin' the mojo back!!!

I don't have an apron either. Wearing one would sort of be for if i was wearing something nicer than the apron too cook. A nice idea in principle but not the reality in my house.

OMG, I would totally quit my job to become a bedazzler! That show is too much. Some of the dresses weigh like 75 pounds and the girls can barely walk in them. Do they ever say how much they cost? I haven't heard any numbers but those poor ladies stay up all night to finish them since the gypsies seem like they just plan these things at the last minute.

Hope you are having lots of fun playing with your new sewing machine, Ang!

Well, crap! I wrote out a long exquisitley worded post this morning and I never clicked "post?" WTH!! No wonder no one visited me today. Sorry!

Seriously? All that never posted???

Ah well. I'll never remember it all. Lots of agreeing with Diva on sewing machines, and lots of appologies to Pooti for being unable to take care of her aprons-- but offering to help her find the right digitizers who have the right machines who can!

Darn it.

Back to my machine.
