Dee's Weight Loss Story
Just a quick first entry - promised myself I would use all available tools to help me make it this time! Today was my first day of Atkins induction and it went well. I felt good most of the day except towards evening when I forgot to drink enough!
I am at an all time high weight of 280 (I can hardly write it). I am based in Ireland and it is exactly 20 stones (14 pounds a stone) - a horrific milestone! The really frustrating thing is that I discovered c. 11 years ago that low carb is right for me but I just can't seem to stay on the wagon. A big part has been boredom I think so I hope if I do some cooking things will be better! Thanks Dee |

2nd day completed and went fairly well - some temptations due to being tired I think. Made some Tuna Muffins this evening.
No weight loss this morning which was disappointing. |

Evening of day 3 and I am feeling very well. I remembered to drink water today and it seemed to make a real difference (or maybe just day 3!). I had enough energy this evening after work (and bed time with the kids) to cook sausage for a lowish carb breakfast for the kids tomorrow and a batch of Tuna Muffins for my husband and me.
Food today: Breakfast - 2 Tuna Muffins, coffee w/ cream Lunch - Grilled salmon and small green salad with caesar salad, coffee w/cream Dinner - steak, stir fry of onion, mushroom, grated cauliflower (smallportion) Snack - Atkins bar, 1 tuna muffin, 1 low carb sauage still & sparkling water for other drinks Any suggestions welcome - I think carb count should be OK but calories probably high! Thanks! |

Day 5 - a whole week at work with a number of new behaviours, in particular avoiding anything that is definitely not cleanly low carb. I have finished dinner which was satisfying but I feel a bit like eating just for the taste (typical for me but I am ignoring).
I have definitely lost a few pounds and am already dreaming of smaller clothes in my wardrobe! Breakfast - missed Lunch - 2 tuna muffins snack - (you guessed it) 1 tuna muffin Dinner - Italian chicken, cauliflower & broc. (I love Tuna muffins) 2 coffees (with small amount of milk) Mineral water. |

Started my second week of induction today. Weight loss for week 6 - 7lbs (depending on scale!). I have had a tough day today, early to work & didn't get home until 10:30pm - I was really hungry. This is the kind of thing that usually makes me feel sorry for my self & binge but so far so good!
Breakfast Cheese/mush/onion quiche Coffee cream Lunch Tandoori Chicken (just marinaded - only thing I could find in canteen!) Salad + caesar dressing, coffee w/cream Atkins bar for snack/coffee & cream Dinner (at 10:30) Quiche + 3 hot dogs! I have started some multi-vits Thanks! |

Didn't do a good job today making sure that I eat well to avoid cravings & binges! I was very busy at work again so missed lunch.... Also didn't drink much water! Today was the first day that I started to think - I would like something else to eat - but I am not going to listen!
Breakfast Quiche, coffee w/cream Lunch - Atkinns breakfast bar Snack /lunch - 5 small hot dogs Dinner - Chicken breast + a little cauli & mayo Dee |

Really tough day at work today - flying around to meetings, hardly any time to eat properly! I am very proud of myself that I stuck to low carb, except that I forgot my cream for coffee so had milk in about 3 cups of coffee, hopefully didn't do too much damage! I think milk in coffee is such a waste since coffee with cream is so nice.
Exhausted last night so didn't make anything for breakfast today. Breakfast - Atkins bar Lunch - corned beef, little cabbage & coleslaw (might have some carbs) Dinner - 2 cheese burgers, cauli/broccoli 3 cups coffee /milk Definitely down 7 - 8 lbs in my first 9 days induction |

I haven't posted since Thursday but things have been going ok...My weight loss this time around feels very slow, but my food intake has not felt restricted at all so probably eating too much. I haven't lost anything this week (since Monday) and I feel like I have kept barbs down to 20 or less. It is probably being in my 40s and not exercising, so discouraging....
I have really been doing well in terms of trying recipes and getting the whole family eating better. Also saving money but not eating takeout! Friday Breakfast - Atkins breakfast bar Lunch - chicken salad with caesar dressing Dinner - 2 pork chops, mockroni (tastes too good!) some milk in coffee Saturday Breakfast 2 cream cheese muffins/ 4 pieces of bacon Lunch- 2 pork chops, mockroni Dinner - 2 cheese burgers, a little mockaroni, cauli, broc Irish coffee Quite a few coffees with cream! I must try to get some keto sticks to check whether I am getting into ketosis! Dee |

I had a really good day although had too much steak for dinner! Made some low carb food for the family (brownies) and for me (tuna muffins) last night. Made 2 additional meals for the freezer this evening and did the food shopping so feeling proud! (Didn't do any exercise though....)
Breakfast - 2 tuna muffins Lunch - chicken,salad, caesar dressing 2 cream cheese muffins dinner - rib eye,brocoli & cauli,mayo 2 coffees w/ cream Mineral water Dee |

Still no weight loss - I used to be able to lose at this level of food! I am afraid if I cut calories way back I will be stuck like that!
Breakfast - 2 tuna muffins Lunch - hamburger pie, salad, caesar dressing Dinner - hamburger pie, cauli, brocoli, mayo 2 cups of coffee w/ cream Getting desperate...... |

I have been doing well although no weight loss so far this week. I have to stop daily weighing! I am sure I haven't been going above 20 carbs in general but prob ATkins bars & cheese & lack of exercise is the problem. (Not sure I can give them up....)
Yesterday: I was at an off site for work with soup & sandwich lunch, had 2 quarters of tuna on brown bread & soup (prob 30 carbs!) Breakfast - 2 Tuna muffins Lunch - as above Dinner - Cheeseburger pie & cauli/Broc Today Atkins Breakfast bar Lunch - cheeseburger pie & salad , caesar dressing Dinner - 2 pork chops, cauli, broc Irish coffee 2 coffees with cream |

I missed posting last night but I have been doing well food wise (still no movement weight-wise!). I am obviously eating too many calories because I don't think it is too many carbs. I am also not exercising and in my mid 40's with a long history of dieting! I am feeling amazingly patient at the moment because I feel well, very few cravings. I suppose I feel so satisfied that it seem reasonable that I am not losing weight.... My clothes do feel loser.
Friday Breakfast - atkins bar Lunch - Chicken, bacon, cheese, lettuce, caesar salad dressing Dinner - 2 pork chops, mockroni Irish coffee 1 low carb brownie (due to being pissed off with lack of progress) Saturday Breakfast - Quiche, 3 bacon Lunch - low carb torilla, tuna w/mayo, cheese melt Dinner - 2 legs chicken, mockroni, small amount brocoli. I am going to start tracking carbs & cals more accurately and read at bit more about JUUDD. That appeals to me! |

I am getting lazy in my posting which is a bad sign. I am getting sloppy food-wise also, mainly due to lack of weight loss. It feels like being a bit stricter is doing nothing for weight loss (nothing for 2 weeks)!
I did OK at the weekend, although had some high cal foods (mockoroni) and tasted a LC banana muffin (really good!). I also has some wine both nights! I am really proud of myself that I am really changing the way we eat as a family. I have 2 boys (8 & 11) and a husband who would like to lose weight too. The kids had started to gain - they look OK but have a little extra weight. I am struggling the get the younger child to try any low carb alternatives....... Today - Monday Breakfast - Quiche (salami. cheese, onion) Lunch - 2 tuna muffins Dinner - 2 pork chops, broccoli, green beans, mayo Snack - 2 low carb sausages, low carb sweets. Some milk in coffee & whipped in coffee in the morning Last edited by brehede; 01-31-2012 at 03:16 PM.. |

Keep at it
Your doing good still journaling without
weight loss. Glad you haven't given up. Remember you can lose inches even if the pounds don't drop. Plus your getting healthier and your family too. PS Maybe try and not eat the food that has a lot of salt for a week and see if you drop weight. |

Dee, don't give up. You're doing great by sticking with it this long.
I'm no expert, but I think your problem may be the fact that you're being too strict. You were worried about calories and calories don't count during induction. Seem that you ate Atkins bars everyday during you second week and that's when the weight loss stopped. Maybe that's the culprit for the no weight loss. Plus you may not be getting enought fat. Fat is your friend on Atkins. Spread some butter on those muffins and veggies, ditch the atkins bars and stay positive. You can do it :-) |

Thank you all so much for the encouragement - it is a great help! Also thanks for the good advice! I have been thinking a bit drastically - about JUDDD etc, but I think I will stop the breakfast bars, and start some exercise and hopefully that will move something.
Today was not good food wise, at least this evening. I had some quiche for breakfast, 2 tuna muffins for lunch but then had to go on work dinner at a pizza restaurant with no low carb options. I had pizza & about 4 glasses of wine! But back on tomorrow - this has to work this time, there is no other option! Thanks again Dee |

I can't believe that it has been a month since I have posted! I have lost about 15 - 16 lbs since I started, but only about 1 lb in the last few weeks! It does feel slow and I am tempted by fat fasting & JUDDD! I am reluctant to do anything too drastic though since I feel really well & am eating on plan (although not strict induction - a few glasses of wine a week & some legal goodies). I need to be stricter or materially increase exercise if I want to lose! I have installed ****** so I can track calories and carbs as well as the level of fat. I am really cooking & have my family eating semi low carb!

Today I decided to start JUDDD - managed to have c. 3000 calories (way above my allowance for upday of 2295!! I am not sure if I counted for tuna correctly! My weight is still the same - stuck at 19 stone (or 19 3 if I believe my new scale!). I hope I can survive my first Down day tomorrow! Only 500 calories.....

It turns out that I did over count about 300 cals for Tuesday! Yesterday was my first DD, it was OK on the whole - I had a bit of a head ache, c. 500 cals, 1 Atkins bar & 2 shakes.
Today was an UD and I felt worse for some reason, headache for most of morning and hungry despite eating well (which doesn't usually happen on LC for me). I have stick to LC so it is strange..... Not looking for to DD tomorrow..... |

I am still following JUDDD LC loosely - had 2 UDs over the weekend but have still over 5 lbs lost this morning after a DD. I really like this WOE, I think the combination of LC & JUDDD works really well for me and I don't feel deprived! I haven't attempted a DD at home yet, only work days so far!

Have you ever heard of India Knight and Neris Thomas? I love their plan, although they don't conventionally follow the Atkins diet. They blended all low carb diets to create their own, and are based out of England. Their website is www.pig2twig.com. Check it out, lots of cool recipes. I love their outlook on lowcarbing! I have bought their book and cookbook, and go on their website often. Hope you like it!
