Really happy that I found Catherine Shanahan's Deep Nutrition. Everyone should read it, even if they don't have any weight problems.

Hi psmileyf ,

I haven't had the time to work on my journal. I have so much to say, especially about my layperson nutrition research, and so little time....sigh....I'll try to be more consistent.

Hope you are doing well.

Struggle, struggle! But I don't care if I'm not perfect. I've always been an all-or-nothing kind of girl, so I'm working on being more relaxed about these things.

Wow, need to visit my journal more often. Last few months have been a flurry of activity with lots of added carbs. I'm working on developing good habits now. Even though I'm crazy busy, I can make this happen.

Breakfast: coffee with cream and nutmeg
Planned brunch: bacon and eggs
Planned dinner: chicken of some sort with cauliflower and butter

You are back on plan and nothing can stop you! Keep up the good work sweetheart and you will be where you want to be.

It takes more time than we want to give it, but in the end we will beat this!

Ewwwwwww, had to get up at 5:30 again, and especially with daylight savings time, that totally sucks. I wish I could go back in time and hit the person who invented this nonsense with a frying pan And no, it wasn't poor Ben Franklin.

It was my plan to get up at 4:45 and put in a 30-45 min workout on my exercise bike, so I headed for bed at 9:10. I'll get enough sleep, I thought, and wake up refreshed and ready to work out. So i announced to the family that i am going to bed and need peace. The best laid plans.......

Enter DH and DS....into the kitchen, making the worst noises, opening and closing the fridge and microwave a million times, slamming the doors of the above appliances, and talking to each other in deep, loud voices....

My pleasantly relaxed body and mind became insanely irritated.....adrenaline poured out by the bucket.......and moi jumped out of bed and ran out there like one of those cartoon bulls with steam coming out of their nostrils and red ember hatred in their eyes!!! If you want to see a fat woman run gracefully, don't look at me....but I digress....I yelled and screamed about lack of consideration, then retreated back to the bedroom. Eerie silence followed...

It took a while after that to calm down.....and it became late....and I was still awake. Needless to say, when the alarm went off at 4:45 this morning, I said to myself " forget the workout" and went back to sleep for a while.

Now I feel like a loser. I want to be one of those mythical creatures who work out no matter what.

My renter neighbors across the street have somehow ended up with other people living with them, and the only parking spot in front of my house is now always taken. Not only that, but there are cars parked with no easement on both sides of our driveway. It is almost impossible to squeeze in and out of there. I feel like we are under siege! It really really really really burns my biscuits! what inconsiderate morons! There are many other parking spaces around, why are they all on top of us? Our peaceful suburban street has turned into cash for clunkers.

We couldn't even position our trash cans in front of the house yesterday........had to put them in front of our driveway and move them every time we had to come and go.....

Enough is enough!!!!

I haven't been able to sleep all night be ause of this. Hope I find the father of the home today and that he is reasonable.

Talk to the landlord, they may have a clause on the rental aggrement about the number of people that live there! Plus there has to be a city ordinance about the number of cars you have parked in front of the house. LOL (In your free time)

May 5th 2012 I weighed in and was displeased to see that I had gone up all the way to 312 lbs, after being in the 303s for the past 6 months. And no surprise, I haven't been following LC strictly.......Being busy at work got the best of me. I was LC from the morning till about 5 when I got home, then all h3ll broke loose in the evenings and weekends.

So, I've enrolled in Fat Secret, even got the app for my cell, and started recording my food intake and weight. I had better days and worse days as far as sticking to my plan, but I have tried to consistently stay under 2500 cal. For some it is too many, but at my size it is just right for now. When I lose more weight, my RDA will fall and I need to shrink the calorie intake.

I strive to stay under 2500 cal with at least 65% of my calories coming from fat. This approach has been pretty successful so far and has resulted in WL despite the rather high amount of calories I apparently consume.

Quote:
2012 * May 13 306.4 lb
*12 May 306.6 lb
*11 May 307.6 lb
*10 May 307.2 lb
*09 May 308.6 lb
*08 May 309.6 lb
*07 May 311.0 lb
*06 May 311.6 lb
*05 May 312.2 lb
2011 *22 Jul 304.8 lb
*18 Jul 11 300.0 lb Start
I haven't been as consistent with exercise as I would have liked to be, but I'm getting there. Suffering from bad hay fever and sinus infection for about 6 weeks. What finally knocked it out? Consistent use of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar with mother. 2 tbsp in 8 oz of water 2-3 times a day.

To exercise, I need to get up at 4:30 am as I leave for work around 6:50 am and that gives me enough time to work out, stretch (extremely important for my always tight muscles), and do my morning pre-work routine.

Food Intake numbers: (keep in mind these are the total carb numbers, not the net carb numbers)
Quote:
~ Sat 12th: kcal: 2374 *-----95% of RDI fat: 174.16g......protein: 152.63g........carbs: 51.91g

~~~~ Fri 11th: 2443 * kcal 98% of RDI ----- fat: 169.86g-----protein: 81.95g-----carbs: 103.75g (- it was a bad emotional day with lots of carbage)
~~~~Thu 10th: 2294 * 92% -----fat: 151.61g-----protein: 192.68g-----carbs: 47.07g () still struggling with the carbs

~~~~Wed 9th: 2500 * 100% -----fat: 181.65g-----protein: 184.91g-----carbs: 22.51g
~~~~Tue 8th: 2379 * 95% ---fat: 171.58g----protein: 151.66g------carbs: 63.44g (ouch! still too high )

~~~~ Mon 7th: 1857 * 74% ----fat: 144.51g----protein: 115.15g----carbs: 30.91g
~~~~ Sun 6th: 1867 * 75% ----fat: 122.07g----protein: 116.69g----carbs: 83.81g

~~~~Sat 5th: 2052 * 82% ----fat: 161.33g----protein: 131.50g----carbs: 24.11g
What this tells me is that even though I was not quite able to get my sea legs under me on the carb issue, I tried and by decreasing my caloric intake and being conscious of not consuming 100 of grams of carbs, I still made some headway on the weight loss front. I am getting back on track slowly and being very conscious of my WL efforts as a first step.
Goal for next week would be not to exceed 30 net grams of carbs and to be well prepared with appropriate foods in order to continue ridding myself of excess weight.
Fat is not an aesthetic issue or a judgement on me that I am a glutton and a sloth, fat is a symptom that something in my body is not working right. And it needs to be corrected. What is not working right? I suspect a host of issues, such as insulin sensitivity. thyroid gland, adrenal gland, pituitary gland...etc., etc.
I truly believe that those imbalances can be corrected via the proper carbohydrate-restricted natural diet, fermented foods, and exercise.
Wow, it's been 8 months since I've been on here....How crazy is that? Going through a little bout of depression, currently.
Someone told me yesterday about the potato diet hack by that NASA engineer. Wonder if it works. He swears by it. Don't see myself eating potatoes for 14 days straight.....only spices allowed. No fat, no other foods. And possibly plain brown rice.
Apparently, potatoes are 323 on the satiety scale and you don't need to eat too many to stay full. Need to really think about this one.
