Keep up the great work Jean! Glad that your doctor is working hard for you, that is half the battle right there. You're doing fabulous and how exciting that hubby seems to be finally getting it! How were the oopsies, I've never made them before! Have a fabulous Sunday!!

Day 13 I gave in

So yesterday was the first time I gave in. I didn't get out of the house because the new meds that I am on has me feeling so weighted down. I'm usually up pretty early but even today I am just now waking up. I definitely need some B12 in my life. Yesterday for the first time since I changed my life I ate ice cream. It was low carb ice cream but it was still ice cream. I truly didn't want to do anything like this for awhile. But I was really wanting something sweet it was unbearable how much I wanted it. So the hubby went and purchased me Low carb sugar free vanilla ice cream and diet root beer. Yes I had a root beer float. All in all it was only about 7 grams of carbs but boy was it the best 7 grams of carbs I have had. lol!!! I'm totally good now I think I can do without sweets for awhile.

Last night was my sleep study and I guess it went well. I will all the results at my doctors appointment.

Yesterday Intake
Cajun fish topped with vegetables and shrimp
Dinner Hamburger Patties

Hi Danielle,

I was so tired yesterday I never made it out of the house and never made the oopsies. I have all the stuff for it and definitely plan on it. These meds are really getting to me. I'm just so tired!!!

Jean, at least it was LC ice cream. You'll be ok. Maybe the B12 can help you. Hoping you are feeling better with more energy soon.

Day 14 I think I am an official water drinker ~ Journal entry

I have come to the realization that I am officially a water drinker. If I look back on just a week ago and how difficult it was for me I am sure I would be astounded. Reason being today there is no difficulty. I have to have the water next to me. It's amazing how it has changed but it feels so good!!!

I feel much better today as I guess my body is getting adjusted to the meds. I don't feel so weighted down like I have the past 2 days.

Yesterdays Intake
Ground taco meat
Fresh Chicharrones
Groud chicken with cabbage

Thanks a bunch Kitty! Yes I do feel better today I don't feel as weighted down as I have. So maybe my body is adjusting. At least now when I start moving a little more e.g. exercise at least I know the pain I'm in will be taken care of.

Jean, I'm so happy for you that you drinking the water without a problem. I'm still struggling. Absolutely hate water and would rather do anything but drink it. I think it's because I have never been much of a drinker of anything. I know that is bad, but I've always been able to go pretty much all day without drinking anything but a sip of tea here and there.

Yeah crazy I never thought I would be saying those words. I absolutely hate water. But last year I ended up in the hospital with a tear in my you know what so I refuse to have that happen again.

Day 15 so far so good!! ~ Journal Entry

This 2 weeks has gone by so fast. I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself. Last night I was pretty hungry so my husband makes this shrimp stir fry with broccoli and squash. He places the stir fry over wheat pasta and goes to town. I take the stir fry and place it on a saucer but didn't even look twice at the pasta. I just kept telling myself I don't choose to be fatter tomorrow. So because there wasn't much of the stir fry to fill my daughter and I up I took a package of very thin slice beef out and cooked it. It totally hit the spot. Just the fact that I made it through I'm super happy!!!

I didn't get a chance to weigh in yesterday so I definitely plan on doing it today. I just want to see it go down. That's all I care about.

Yesterday's Intake
egg scrambled with leftover ground chicken and cabbage
shrimp stir fry and sliced beef.

You did GOOD, lady!!! I'm proud of you!
You can always use spaghetti squash. In fact you can put sauces on veggies instead of pasta. It tastes great that way!

Remember: it is always a day at a time (or a meal at a time). Don't ever beat yourself up for whatever you did or didn't do yesterday! Just put one foot in front of the other and do the next *right* thing. Focus on what you are doing NOW and not the past or future. It will all work out!

I totally agree with using veggies in place of pasta. I LOVE using zucchini "noodles" and pouring sause over that. SO yummy!

I have a spaghetti squash here that a friend of mine gave me but I do not know how to cook it. You are right it is yummy I tasted hers and she is supposed to show me how to prepare it but that hasn't happened yet.

Day 16 and if I can only get past the laziness ~ Journal Entry

Well it is day 16 and I was supposed to weigh in 3 days ago. In order to do that I have to step a foot outside well I haven't done that since Saturday night and haven't been outside in daylight since Friday. I have so many things I should and need to do in the outside world but I can't seem to motivate myself to get up and get going. It leads me to ask the following questions:

Am I becoming a total recluse?
Am I fearful of the pain that I will be in when I return?
Am I scared that I might give in to the temptations of the outside world?
Is it about the effort that it will take to put on clothes and get dressed?

Honestly? I think it is all of the above. I am on a new project and I have become completely absorbed with it and working (being the end of the month) but yet this is also, truthfully another excuse.

I need to get it going today I have so much important business to take care of. The one positive about staying in is I completely and totally control my eating. I have no problems in this arena. Now if only I can convince myself to do what I need to do, to get up and get out of the house.

Yesterday's Intake
Very Thin Sliced beef & Lamb
Sliced lamb with squash
Pork Roast

All meat very little vegetables yesterday

Jean you gotta get out there, you cant hide from the world and all its temptations, you are not going to be tempted by anything! Get your booty to the scale and I know when you see that number there is no way you are going to stray!

Spaghetti squash- I slice it in half longways, then I drizzle a little olive oil salt and pepper and bake it at like 375 for 45 minutes or so you can smell it and test it-- if the strings start pulling away it is done. Take it out and let it cool then scrape it all out and put in fridge for whenever you want it, Pesto is my favorite on it!

Jean, I'm a writer and I work from home too. Believe me, I know the temptation to not get dressed, not brush your hair, not put makeup on, etc. But you will feel better if you do those things and try to get out at least once each day, even for a short while. I have a good writer buddy who also works from home and he goes to this little coffee shop near his house every morning. He gets dressed, walks down there, gets his coffee and just says hello to anyone he passes. Then he goes home and works. He's been doing this every morning for about 20 years and says it's the secret to his success. He also suffers from brutal depression and diabetes and this is one way he combats that.

I was single when I first started working from home 16 years ago and I worried I was becoming a recluse too. It's so easy to do, especially when you're really busy all the time with work. But I try to remember something my dad always said: "No one ever said on their death bed, gee I wish I had worked just one more day."

The other thing that I just want to point out is I could never exist on how little you are eating. Not eating enough can definitely sap your energy and make everything feel like too much effort. When I first started lc I was exhausted all the time but it went away after about 2 weeks and I started getting my energy back. Is there a reason why you eat so little? Are you not hungry or do you purposely not eat much?
