Walk to Gym Before the Blizzard Today ·
Walked about 4 city blocks to the gym this morning. Wanted to miss the blizzard of the afternoon! The streets were the clearest route to walk. Used my old Olympus camera, didn't want to get my good one wet. Almost had a close encounter with a couple of snow plows...Whooosh!

Finally got my retina scans on my eyes yesterday. I had a hole/surgery on my right retina in 2009 after hitting my head on my car while trying to get inside of it one afternoon. After I broke my cheek/nasal bone the first week in September, I had a feeling the other eye was affected because my vision was diminished afterward.
I have a partial tear in the retina of the left eye. Good news is that they don't do surgery until it is a full tear. That's a relief, because the last surgery I had a gas bubble inserted into my eye and had to be face down 24/7 for 5-7 days. Luckily, then, I still had my massage table and they gave me this apparatus to stick in the side of my bed so I'd have a face cradle to sleep. I could only sit up to go to the bathroom or eat and I had too face the floor.
Anyway, the doctor said to go to the emergency room if I see sudden floaters or a black curtain falling effect. Means the retina is detaching..
I got the bills from when I went to the emergency room when I thought my foot was broken the middle of December.
The hospital was 1400.00 marked down to 600.00
The physician automatically works with a collection agency apparently because I got my first bill from them last week for 1040.00 no negotiating there....and I only saw him for about 3 minutes!
And I got a bill yesterday for $13.10 for the little bootie they gave me. I was shocked to see a charge that small!!! LOL

Was feeling under the weather the past couple of days, but intend to do the weight machine routine today. It's raining all over big piles of snow in St. Louis this morn...St. Louis slushfest should continue the next few days....

Oh, dream girl, I'm sure your eye issues must be unsettling. It's good that you don't have a full tear. Will a partial tear inevitably develop into a full one or is there a possibility it could remain stable as is so you wouldn't have to have surgery at all?

The costs of medical care, especially hospital care and ER care are shocking. I fear illness not simply because like everyone I want to remain healthy but also because the expenses can be impossible to bear. I had to have a scan last summer and the bills for that one very short procedure kept coming and were astounding. It makes me scared to go to the doc these days.

I just need to not "bump" my brains again! It's concerning because it's both eyes now. It could stay stable or tear it's hard to tell. I can hope for the best. I've always had really bad eyesight (lasik in 2000 - nearsightedness to the point of "coke bottle" lenses at age 12). Because of the extreme length of my eyeballs, the doc told me I'm susceptible to many things that can damage my eyes...especially the retina..
I'm just happy I don't have to go through that surgery right now.

Didn't make it to the gym. Didn't feel like walking in the cold damp rain environment on top of snow.
The sun will be shining tomorrow and hopefully so shall I

I worked 12 hours yesterday and missed the 59 degree sun! Worked this morning and was soaking up the sun when I could this afternoon. I literally sat in the car, with my window down, straining my face to the sun like a light deprived plant while my dad was shopping in the store. Anyway, my face said ahhhh, I want spring...nowwwwww! LOL

Monday, January 13, 2014 - my messed up feet allowed me walk to and fro the gym...grateful....

Another sun lover here. It completely transforms my mood and outlook. Not that I don't love the drama of stormy or gray days, because I do...there is something beautiful and moving about the bleak landscape, a haunting melancholy that definitely has an appeal. But my soul longs for the relaxing and cheerful warmth of the sun with its miraculous blessing of vitamin D.

Dreamgirl, you have been amazingly diligent about your workouts at the gym. I am majorly impressed. Good work.

Woke to 148.8 this morn. Not bad after sharing a big bucket o buttered popcorn at the moviehouse last night.
A friend had a free preview tickets to see Labor Day with Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.
I'd give it 2 stars, maybe. The story is narrated by her "son" in the film. Started out interesting...but the all three characters made ridiculous/stupid choices at some point in the movie (white t-shirt)...that left me thinking "Really"?
Anyway, it'd make a good redbox movie night cuddled on the couch with your honey where you don't have to pay a lot of attention. LOL
Afterward, we went to Atomic Cowboy on Manchester. R has some young burner (regional burning man folk) friends that meet there every Wednesday night and sometimes they do a fire show. But not last night. We stayed and listened to this young DJ spin some really good music and left around 11:00. Other than us, I don't think there was anyone over the age of 30 there. Was feeling my age...and momentarily left me wishing for second chances...a chance to go back and do everything differently...as if I weren't already too tired to do yesterday all over again...lol

Sounds like a good evening! Glad you got your groove back.

I suspect that if we were able to go back and do it all over again we'd either make the same mistakes (since we'd be the same person, right?) or if we somehow made different choices those choices would probably have pitfalls of their own. I do think our choices are perhaps to a great extent determined by certain factors intrinsic to our temperaments and natures. For example, they've done research on the brain which seems to suggest that whether or not one is a risk taker has to do with particular structures and chemicals in the brain more than conscious choice. I'm not saying I think we are powerless to determine the course our life takes but just that so much is beyond our control, including our DNA. When I look back and think, like you, that I might like the chance for a redo I am brought up short by the memory of how difficult it often was and then I get a sense of relief that I've survived all that and the strong feeling that I wouldn't want to have to face it all again.

I worked 10 hours Saturday and Sunday and was dealing with a stressful situation. I dealt with it by eating both days, no wheat, a bit a sugar but mega calories. I picked myself up and started again today. Really working on not beating myself up...that just sets up a pattern of self loathing in which I eat even more. Plus, I'm leaving for Mexico with friends on Saturday and my shorts from last summer are a bit tight..gotta be able to squeeze my generous butt into them. LOL
Have a date with someone new on Thursday at buffalo wild wings. 6'3" bald, just like I like em.

So you like them bald and 63? Teehehe. Have fun and keep us posted.

A trip to Mexico. How exciting! How long will you be there? A wonderful time of year to travel to a warmer clime. You'll have a great time.

Two old friends (one an ex love) from my old university home town planned a trip to Mexico for Pam's birthday. I had to beg off because of finances.
Tommy called and said I could share their room at the resort (his treat) if I could find a cheap flight out there on January 25th. So a little over a month ago I charged a round trip ticket for $383.00 all the way to Cancun. They are leaving St. Louis at 6am on Saturday and arrive directly in Cancun at 9:30. I leave St. Louis at 6am, fly to Charlotte North Carolina, sit a spell, then take a 3 hour flight to Cancun...arriving around noon. It's a 45 minute shuttle south to the resort.
We have to be at the airport around 4.30 Saturday so we are pajama partying it at the hotel near the airport on Friday night. They will be picking me up around 5.00 when they get to town. We are going to have a blast!
I've been stressing about putting this experience on my charge...but I've stopped myself quick like this week. I need to hit the "off" button on my neurotic mind and have some mindless fun in the sun. I'll be back in town weather permitting at 8:00 pm on Wednesday. It's a 7+ hour flight back to reality...

Ocean view room at $946.00 a night....

Worked 10 hours at Mrs. T's last night, ran errands and finally made it to the gym after 8pm. All young, muscle-y men were there that late. They looked at me like I was an alien invading their space...
Invade it I did...

Trying to get motivated to take my laundry outside and down to the basement in this bitter cold. Spent the morning catching up on Downton Abbey and altering some good will clothes for my trip.
Okay, okay gonna get out of my jammies and greet the cold!

Highlighting my hair, now to try to trim an inch off, don't have time to go to Great Clips! Wish me luck!

Have a wonderful hol in Mexico sweet. (I recently hacked off an inch of my own hair and no one seemed to notice. Well, at least they didn't visibly react in horror or collapse in laughter). Have a great vacay.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Did a bad job on my hair, but Pam fixed it on vacation!
Had a wonderful time. Residents said it rained for weeks until we arrived with the good weather goddess! Perfect weather for 5 days!
Got sick in the middle of the night, the night before I left.
Thought I was okay.
It hit me big on Friday from 9am to 3:00 I was hitting the bathroom big time. Ouch said my buttcheeks.
Now I'm getting a battling a cold, so I'm skipping a super bowl party today with my new friend Mike. Grateful because I really want to keep eating clean...my resistance would be low in that tempting environment...

Worked out Saturday, then coughed myself through the evening last night.
Today is better, taking some old sudafed which is starting to dry up my system...
We got slammed with ice last night. Need to thaw my car before tomorrow's drive to work.

Here's some pics (mostly from Pam, I forgot my camera, took a couple with my phone)

Foam Party at Pool

Hot tub

Me chillaxing - sort of r rated lol

Been sick pretty much since I returned from vacation.
It and the weather has triggered a depression, probably pms too...
Yesterday I forced myself to the gym, glad I did.

Wednesday February 5, 2014

Boss asked me to to an overnight shift last night. 7pm to 7am. Got about an hour of sleep. In the middle of the night confronted a impulse to eat carbs, recognized it as a response to stress and curbed it. But didn't do as well in the days preceding...

What I thought was a good tenant moved out with 2 weeks notice last weekend. What was new carpet has holes dug into it by an over enthusiastic dog.
She promised me he would be caged when she was gone.
Promises Promises.
Doing paperwork for the end of the year for the buildings.
Tomorrow I run errands, could have a date if I want (haven't decided yet) then work 10 hours both Saturday and Sunday.

Monday it'll be February 10th....inching close to spring?

OH girl, sorry you aren't feeling well! That stinks. Hopefully you are back to normal soon.
What job are you working 7-7 on? I must have missed that

I too hope you're doing and feeling better. You certainly seem to have recovered your abundant supply of energy! Like Monica, I've been wondering about your job...what exactly are you doing these days?
