I weighed in at 164.4 this morning. I was not happy at all a few days ago when the scale read 168.4. I actually did not post because I was so upset with myself. I cannot believe it is the last day of May. To me, it is like summer is officially here. I am happy that I am 40 pounds lighter than last summer (wished it would of have been more) BUT I am not done yet! I am also going through some tough things with my hubby right now. It has really shown me that I cannot rely on anyone else but myself. At the end of the day, our own actions is the only thing we truly have control over.
Hoping for a good day....

I'm sorry you are struggling!
I hope today is a better day for you!

(and there are days I do not post my weight because I can't get myself to type it out.)

Thanks Paula.
I like this journal because I can really go back and track how and when I seem to do better or struggle. It can be eye opening.
Today I weighed in at 165.
I really want to start exercising again, remember to take my vitamins, and keep hydrated. I think I will have to make these goals of mine for the upcoming summer weeks. I also notice I do better on the scale and with hunger when I have a nice salad for lunch during the week. So, next week, I plan on having my salads w. grilled chicken or steak for lunch. So, I have my daughter's recital this weekend, I will food shop and straighten up around the house.

You're doing good Luca, the scale is a pain...it makes me emotional and crazy. I've managed to not peak at it all week, waiting for my weigh in on Monday. Do you measure? Sometimes that shows a change too, even when the scale acts retarded.

Hang in there. It can be rough, but you are eating well and trying your best.

Hope you have a good time at your daughter's recital.

This up down, up down is kind of annoying. I have to stay the course.

The following next 2 weeks are going to be extremely stressful and I need to be prepared....
Paula-we can't let this beat us! We can do it! Summer is here and we can't go backwards! Hang in there and good luck this week.

Today I weighed in at 163. I know-it's a fluke. Up and down the scale goes. I will only get excited if I stay that way for at least a week. But I am pleased the scale did go down and not up. Today we have a luncheon at work and I was in charge of putting all the goodies out--torture! There were so many sweets (cupcakes, cookies, cakes) and dips and chips. I had some of the dip w. out the chips and none of the sweets-so far. The day is not over yet. I am determined to stay away from them for the rest of the day. When I went back to my classroom, I ate 4 snack size slim jims which helped suppress my urges to eat those foods. The old me would have thought nothing of eating and picking on all those snacks. But when someone at work just said to me, "C'mon just try this! It's so good!" I declined because I know it is never about just one for me. I also know the physical and mental displeasure I get from eating that stuff far outweighs the brief elation I get when I eat high carb.
Some days it just seems so hard to stay on track and other days it's so natural....My goal is to lose weight but mainly to identify true hunger vs. head hunger. Hoping for a good day....

Hi Melanie! Thanks for reading. It's so great to have the support from LC friends. Your stats look great! KUTGW.

Today I weighed in at 164.2. I knew that 163 was shortlived! BUT when I think of it, it is soooo close to the 150's! I need to get there! It is doable!

Hoping for a good day...

My weight has been bouncing up and down too. We'll get there.

Good job resisting the luncheon goodies (junk). That's tough to do.

Have a great day Luca!!

Hi Luca!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello! I TOTALLY understand your frustrations with the fluctuations of that number on the scale. I have been in a "mini stall" for about a week and a half, not able to go below a certain number. It drives me crazy.

Good luck to you, and I look forward to watching your progress!! It WILL HAPPEN!

Maxi

Thanks Maxi! This week my mindset is truly determined, although I do get frustrated at times. This whole journey has been more than what I anticipated and I think that is why it is the first time I am seeing results. I cannot get too upset because it is not happening as quickly as I would like it-I am not just losing weight-I am changing the whole mindset I have had for most of my life about eating and handling emotions. That is a HUGE UNDERTAKING and I have to be patient BUT willful with myself. (It also helps when you wear figure forming clothes and look good in them too!)

Today I weighed in at 164....
Hoping for a good day ahead...

Today I weighed in at 163. It seems like I lose when I don't have my usual egg breakfast? I did not do this on purpose, I would be in a rush for work and I would just grab almonds w. my coffee and maybe string cheese like today.
Granted, I see the scale does not stay down but I am going to experiment with this for the next week or so. I have a wedding on July 15th and I REALLLY want to look fantastic. I have always dreaded dress shopping like bathing suit shopping. I want to look sexy not like I am hiding behind the HUGE black dress. It would be great to be in the 150's by then .....I feel good today.
I hope for a good day and weekend. I have a family b-day party to go to and graduate school work to do among the other typical mom & house stuff to get done. I will do my best not to binge or substitute food for emotions....let's see how that goes. The weekend are always trickier for me...I am much more disciplined when I work during the week.

You sound like you got a good plan and are in tune with your body. This past month my weight has been up and down and it's frustrating but I've seen changes in measurements so that helps.

Mindset is very important, that's a HUGE part of any eating plan. Part of how you look is really how YOU THINK you look. (I'm working on that myself)

It just slows down a lot once you get closer to goal, just got to trust that your body is working with you to get you there and you WILL do it.

I bet you will look fabulous at that wedding! Own that body and flaunt all you got, you have come SO far and deserve to feel like that sexy woman!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Thanks Karen. I agree it is a mindset. I think my mindset has been negative for so long in my life, even when I was at a healthy weight, that it can be hard to change. Habits die hard. That is part of the reason I realize that it is ok that my weight can come off slower because it is a way of life not a diet and therefore I need to change the way I think.....that in itself is quite the challenge. You have come so far too and it's people like you that keep me motivated when things get rough.
Thanks again for your supportive words...we can do it!

Today I weighed in at 163.4.

I ate some popcorn and a few pretzels last night around 1 am. I was up doing grad work and my husband was talking to me about a job he is trying to get. Kind of a stressful conversation and gave in a bit. UGH! But it was also a direct result of not eating enough during the day.

Today I am good so far but I have a family b-day party to go to and I am hoping to stay on plan and not give in especially after my choices from last night. Hoping to stay on track....

Hi Luca,

Good luck with the party today! I totally understand how it is when we don't eat enough during the day and snack to make up for it. I am currently upping my calories because I have been really on a low calorie, low carb plan and it was leaving me hungry and tired all of the time because of the calories, I think. It has really messed with my metabolism. I have tried to eat more, and I immediately put on 4 pounds. I'm going to wait it out and see what happens, and I will also try to skip the scale again for a while.

I tell you this not to tell you what to do, but to share my story with struggles with daily eating. You will find out what is right for you.

All my best,

Jenna (AKA "Maxi")

Today I weighed in at 164.4.
I did really well at the party. I only ate the apps that were legal and had seltzer water, none of the bbq except some shrimp scampi. No dessert or fruit.
I came home and ate pecans w. splenda and melted butter because I just needed something. I am disappointed the scale moved the wrong way but i know that was from the night before and I did not have enough water yesterday.
Oh-and my bathing suits arrived in the mail from Lands End. I can't stand it! But I guess its better than last summer...
Hoping for a good day...I am going to start planning for today and the week. Can't give up!

Thanks Jenna- You're right. I am trying to figure out works best for me. This process definitely leads me into finding out about what makes MY body "tick". I'm still learning and it will be 1 year in July....

Bathing suit shopping is THE WORST. But, I think that when we are used to being heavier and look to reaching our goal we are stuck in the mindset that where we aren't good enough... I think you should own those suits and flaunt your improved self as a celebration to where you have come to and maybe you will see that it isn't that bad. I have been trying to step out of my comfort zone and walk around without my swim dress or shorts on, it feels a little weird, but I sure have been bigger and looked worse.

It's good that you are experimenting, I'm doing the same thing. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work. 1 year is an amazing accomplishment, go get em!

I hope you had a good day!

Hi Luca,

Just wanted to chime in---good for you, 2 pounds down!! Have you started your "experimenting" yet?

I hope the rest of your day is great.

Today I weighed i at 162.2.
Yes, Jenna, I have started to experiment. I am cutting my breakfast down.
I used to eat eggs and bacon or sausage every morning or mock cream of wheat and by accident (when I forgot or was in a rush) I would skip it and just have my coffee w. almonds or string cheese. I noticed I was not hungrier in the afternoon and night just as long as I continued to eat a good lunch and dinner.

I felt lighter and now I am down two pounds. I am going to do this for a complete week and see how it goes. I think my body has signaled to me that I need less calories to lose my last 20 pounds. My comfort eating patterns emotionally told me to stay with the "routine" but I physically I think I may be ok with less. I am still experimenting though-so I am not sure if I am right.
Thanks for the encouragement-it means a lot to me.
How are YOU doing?

Hi Luca,

Good luck with your "experiments!" I too have tried things like eating breakfast/skipping breakfast; lowering cals with carbs/raising cals with carbs, and recently, adding in exercise. I lost my first 14 pounds with just dietary changes, now I am trying to lose the final 5 or so with exercise added (cardio and strength training). I wish you lots of success whatever you do!!

I am doing well today. I truly enjoy the wonderful support and encouragement that I get from posts in my journal and reading/posting in other people's journals too. It is very comforting and uplifting at the same time. Thanks for having me along on YOUR journey!!

Have a super day,

Jenna

You would think I would be so happy but my husband did not get a job he went after. It really sucks and normally I don't talk too much about personal stuff but I can;t help it. It's been a strain in the house since he has been out of work and I was really hoping that this would pan out.....

At my job, (teaching), I am done for the year and so are the kids. I feel like crying. One thing I noticed during my weight loss journey so far, is that I cannot depend on anyone but myself. This is both a good and bad thing. My expectations of people and life may be setting myself up for disappointment. How that relates to eating, well, I always ate for comfort and for emotional reasons. So when things don;t go as expected, I eat. Which has led me to not being obese BUT in a constant struggle w. self esteem and control . I think I have depended too much on others to make me happy....ughhhh....
Here's to trying to stay on top of my habits today.....

So today I weighed in at 162.
Last night I thought about reaching 161 and how when I started this journal I was 181...so 20 lbs lighter is great BUT (here is my negative side) that's only 20 lbs in 7 months!? That's about 3 pounds a month?? Ughh....

Anyhow, that thought will not slow me down. I know it's been slow but it's been progress...so I'll take it. I NEED to keep this going this summer.

Karen, you wrote goals for the summer. I think I am going to do this too. I am not done losing weight and have about 20 lbs to go and I do not want it to take 7 more months....hoping for a good day.
