My JUDDD Journey

I have always had a problem with my weight. From school age on, it's been a constant battle. My lowest weight was when I was a senior in high school. I was on the swim team and swam two hours everyday (eating what I wanted). I just don't have the time, nor really, the inclination to swim two hours nowadays. Plus, I have four children that keep me pretty darn busy, a husband, a part time job, you get the idea.

I tried WW. I tried LC. I tried just watching what I was eating. And I've been frustrated, discouraged, and just plain mad. I found JUDDD while pursing the boards not too long ago and thought I'd give it a shot. This is my first week and I'm refusing to weigh myself until Tuesday, which will be my official one week mark.

I'm starting this journal so I can keep track and be accountable. Currently my numbers are 468/2342. I'm really hoping this WOE will work for me!

Today is a DD (468):

b-wasn't hungry. Sipped on a Fresca cause my throat was dry
l-HG Girlfredo (101)

I'm not sure what supper will be. Or if there will be any snacks. Doing pretty well right now!

Went to the grocery store and stocked up on some things. Got hungry around 3:30ish, but wasn't able to eat anything until about 20 minutes ago. Had a Bocca burger with ff cheese (95)

Going to have some poke (131) for dinner. It's my new favorite food. lol!

That brings my daily calorie intake to 330 which means I have 138 left to play with if I get hungry later.

Hey there Jenn. I think JUDDD works if you work it! What is poke?

Hey Spec Thanks for stopping by! My only concern is that I've had so much failure on "diets" before,
even when sticking strictly to plan.

Poke is a Hawaiian dish made with sashimi grade tuna and spices. It's sooo good!

Spekc-Here's a better poke description: is a raw fish salad served as an appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine. Pokē is the Hawaiian verb for "section" or "to slice or cut". Modern poke typically consists of cubed ʻahi (yellowfin tuna) sashimi marinated with sea salt, a small amount of soy sauce, inamona (roasted crushed candlenut), sesame oil, limu seaweed, and chopped chili pepper. Other variations' ingredients may include cured heʻe (octopus), other types of raw tuna, raw salmon and other kinds of sashimi, sliced or diced Maui onion, furikake, hot sauce (such as sambal olek), chopped ʻohiʻa (tomato), tobiko (flying fish roe), ogo or other types of seaweed, and garlic.

Mine isn't too fancy. I just use a little soy sauce, garlic, and onion.

Today is an UD (2342)! Not sure what all I am going to have today. Think we may be going out for breakfast! yum!!!

Hi Jenn, I know what you mean about diets. I have been overweight since age 9 with only very brief periods of "normal" since. I spent almost all of 2011 stalled on general low carb. I tried various things, nothing worked. It is incredibly frustrating when you know it should be working, and for some reason, it's not. JUDDD has been working for me, but then it can throw you a curve ball. I had a 1.4 pound gain after a 600 calorie down day and that angered and surprised me. We shall see how the rest of the week plays out.

So this is your first week? I'm curious about your up day calories? They seem pretty high to me. Not like I'm an expert or anything. My number is 1700, but I'm so short and have 35 pounds to go.

Poke sounds great! Except I can't handle the texture of raw fish

When I tried LC, I did a strict, by the book ('72) induction and lost, I think maybe, a pound. And that was in two weeks! I was so very upset! Especially when everyone around me (DH and the boards) were losing weight like crazy. I saw your post about your gain I think maybe you are getting ready for a woosh? Who knows why our bodies work they way they do!

How tall are you? I am short too...5'1, but I have 80 pounds or so to lose. My UD calories seem a little high to me too! But it's what the JUDDD site gave me. lol. My DD calories are only 468, so I guess it evens out? Looking forward to my weigh in on Tuesday. DH commented today that he could tell I've lost weight, so we shall see!

Went to one of our favorite places for brunch and got a Caprese salad (495). It was delicious!

I'm 5'2". The JUDDD website calculator tells me 1690 for normal calories, and 592 for down days, at the 35% loss level. I don't think I could survive on less that about 600 calories, so that's why I don't go lower.
I hope you see a huge loss on Tuesday! That's awesome someone has noticed already!

Ahhh...I'm starting with 20%. Will move up as the pounds (hopefully) come off!

Had a snack of chocolate pudding. When I made my lemon pudding last week with 2 cups of Almond Breeze, I thought it was a bit runny. Still tasty though! I made chocolate last night and only used one cup of Almond Breeze. Nice and thick!

Snack-chocolate pudding (90) (I finished it off! lol!)

Thanks SGF! Glad to see you!

Supper was about 2.5 ounces of beef bites and a cup of Alfredo noodles for a total of 473. Actually a little less, but not much. So far, that's a grand total of 968 for the day. I need to eat a lot more to get a little closer to my UD calories so that my body has fuel for tomorrow.

I made apple dumplings for the kids, and I think I'm going to have one of those, but that will bring my calories to just a little over 1000. 1229, to be exact. And I'm supposed to be at 2342. I don't mind being a little under, but over 1000 under is too much!

I ended up having two apple dumplings (they are hard to resist! Glad I didn't have to!) and 3 lindt dark chocolate peppermint truffles and I still have 687 calories. I'm fairly sleepy today...had an allergy attack and now I just want to crawl into bed. Going to eat some shrimp though (which will leave me with 527 unused calories). DD tomorrow and I've got it mostly planned out!

Feeling yucky after my allergy attack yesterday, but that will make this DD easy! Right? Here's the game plan so far

B-fruit smoothie (85) I'm actually rethinking this. So not hungry currently so it might move to a snack status.

L-Two servings poke (132)

S-Most likely some Greek yogurt (160)

That gives me a grand total of 377 with 91 leftover if I get hungry

So far I've had the poke (132) and 1 oz (20) of crab.

Trying to decide what else I want to have. I really want a pork chop (what I'm making for dinner), but will save that for tomorrow!

I had two bites of pork chop. Couldn't help it...it was really good! Then I had a Greek yogurt (160). So all total, minus the two bites of pork chop is 312 with 156 left. I'm pretty certain the two bites of pork chop were less than 156! Not taking any chances though. If I eat anything else tonight it will be 1/2 cup pudding (45)

I'm feeling a little bloated though, so not sure if I'll have anything or not.

Still very nervous about my weigh in tomorrow

Have I mentioned how nervous I am about tomorrow? lol

I've been feeling good all week and today I feel bloated and yucky and I don't know what else. Guess all I can do is weigh myself in the morning and hope for the best!

Well, looks like I'm down 2.6! To be honest, I was hoping it would be a little more, but I can't say I'm not pleased with the results! Definitely the most I've lost in one week on a "diet"! Can't wait to see what next week brings, especially with Thanksgiving this week!

UD today...

Not sure what I'm going to eat today!

I had some chicken and dumplings (delicious!) and a little chicken skin. Still aways away on my calorie intake. Feeling very full currently though!

Might have some peppermint ice cream later!

DD today and I don't feel good! Which is a good thing, come to think of it. I'm hungry, but nothing sounds good at all! I'm sure I'll eat something eventually, I'm just not sure what.

Thanks, SGF!

Today was not a good day I did not eat much, but I'm pretty sure I went over. Not by much though. It's hard to calculate when you only have a tsp of something. Or just a bite of something.
