Hey everyone!
I am home. Working from home today, nursing my cold, and trying to get over my jetlag. I should be rested and ready for action tommorow! Luckily this cold is making me not feel like eating anything...so I'll probably stick to soup and protein shakes today!
I am really debating my next move. WW is a good program, and it works for a lot of people but it is so carb focused, I don't feel super comfortable with it...I know myself well enough to know that if I eat cereal and milk for breakfst,I'm starving in an hour! Plus sugar is a slippery slope for me. Although I know you can eat anything on that plan, I'm just worried that my protein will put me at the end of my points by lunch time!
I have been looking over my journal, and I realize if I am honest with myself, I have not been really "ON" since the holidays. I have a few good days, and then a slip, and on and on. That said, it really isn't fair for me to say atkins isn't working. I am the one who isnt working!! So I may need to just suck it up, start over, and work the plan, working the carb ladder...The other thought I have is to do more of a south beach approach so I can get some whole grain carbs sooner...I could probably do reduced fat vs.fat free and be ok.
Thoughts?? I value everyone's input!

Well I will say fat free is no good, do low fat and you can eat wholesome whole grains with protein and lose wieght, like you Atkins is unforgiving, one cheat erases a whole lot of work, the thing is if you di south beach just remember you might go up a little at first but then it will come down, once your bod is used to it!! I agree protein is way better than sugary cereal, I just cant bring myself to eat that, but I can see eating Fiber One and pure bran flakes all of which are good for you!

IMO- protein is always a winner
2- high fat, must go low carb
3- moderate carbs must watch fat less than 30%
the hairy line is when you start thinking you can eat the fat of atkins with the whole grains and fruits and veggies!

And maybe a little exercise?????

I agree. I have to find that balance that will work for me. Whatever I choose, I will have to be dedicated. Something with a bit more moderate carbs will probably be easier when I travel. Excercise has to be a part of it too! I have been walking a lot the last 2 weeks, and I am going to keep that up! I know it's not a lot, but it is a start, and I can walk 30 minutes a day...no excuses!!
And I am going to track everything!! That will help me stay focused.

Yes tracking, exercise all allow you to see what you are really eating and the exercise help you get away with an occasional treat, tracking though is important it is mind numbing when you see what you eat in a day if you are not careful, and especially being on the road with eating out that can really make it tough! You will figure it out! I know this sounds so cliched and so stupid, but moderation and exercise is really what is needed,LOL

Good Monday morning everyone! I weighed this morning and 209.4...Unbelivable that i lost. I'm sure its a fluke! But I'll take it/
I picked my new plan, and I'm starting today! Protein Power! I am starting with the '30 day low carb solution" and then I'll transition to the lifeplan. I downloaded them both to my kindle, and read low carb all weekend while I nursed my cold. I really think this plan is going to be a good one for me. It is slightly more carbs, and the emphasis is protein (obviously). The rules are "don't go over your carbs" and "don't eat under your protein goal". You get 10 carbs per meal, and things like Yogurt, fruit and low carb bread are included from the first day.
Day one here I come! I will post updates as I can.
Make it a great Monday!
Meg

Good Morning!
I had a great first day on plan. Totally Honey Badger. I am committed. I didn't even flinch when my 8yo niece showed up at my door with a plate of freshly baked, still warm chocolate chip cookies! That is how good I was!
So day 2 today. I have my breakfast (egg quiche I made over the weekend from the book) and lunch (chicken salad and a slice of low carb bread) ready to go. I have to decide about dinner...I'll probably pick up a rotisserie chicken or something easy.
I'm off to Chicago tomorrow for an overnight. Easy trip thank goodness!
Have a great Tuesday everyone!!
Meg

Thanks Amber. I am in Chicago. Thankfully it is just for one night! I did great on plan all day, AND I did 35 minute Power 90 (not X!!) dvd workout in my hotel room. I just finished! I am very proud of my self. I decided that I am going to give up being a couch potato for lent. 40 days of activity should really get me into the groove. I think I might even post a challenge thread to keep myself accountable.
Just going to shower quick and go grab some dinner. Petite Sirloin at Fridays with no potatoe double broccoli.
Look OUT!! I've been bit by the badger!!
M

Hi Kitty:
For all of you who may be under the false impression that travel is glamorous...Picture me sitting in a dark corner, on the floor, in a dress, eating peanuts and attempting to charge my portable electronic devices...yep...this is living!
