The Big Reveal

Having had a journal prior, I realized a few things along the way: there were times when I felt as though no one was reading/commenting on my journal's content, & I allowed this to discourage me. No matter the emotional walls I put up, the fact remains that I want people to like me & find me interesting/relevant (I am a Leo, after all, and we tend to bask in the light, lol). With that said, I've realized that this journey to better health & weight loss is NOT for anyone else...it's mine, and I need to own that fully & accept the power to change for the better. Sure, I love feedback & support, but I need to find strength on my own & get this show on the road.

I've titled my journal "The Big Reveal" bc I aspire to unveil new sides of myself along the way (and, yes, I love makeover shows :)). I am also going to try to be "transparent" with my hopes, dreams, trial & errors, etc. Welcome to the ride. :)

Here's to feedback. Great start and good luck!

Jayce 09-19-2011 11:26 PM

Thank you! Btw, is that avi Anne as the White Queen?

Jayce 09-20-2011 08:50 AM

Hola...woke up in a really good mood & very motivated. Read a lot last night about the power of positive thinking, so I'm looking to implement it every day now.

Jayce 09-20-2011 07:30 PM

Oh, forgot to mention that I registered for a 5K in May. It's called "Run Like A Girl" & proceeds go to ovarian cancer research/support. Never done a race before, so now I'm questioning my sanity. Lol. I need to go buy some running shoes & new sports headphones (I like the ones that clip over your ear). Anyone have any advice?

verbqueen 09-20-2011 07:38 PM

I like your journal title--very fun! Good luck to you!

Star73 09-20-2011 07:38 PM

Hey Jayce! I love the title of your journal. I love makeover shows too! Good luck on your journey. How exciting is the 5k! :)

mama_2_3 09-20-2011 07:54 PM

Hi Jayce! I wish I had the courage to sign up for a race. Do you run at all now?

Thx ladies...It's hard sometimes to title things. ;) And I appreciate the good luck wishes...every positive iota helps.

No, I do not. I used to run in between weightlifting sets when I tried a trainer for like 12 sessions bk in the Spring, but I haven't done any running since. I really, really want "runner's legs" b/c I love the look of healthy, strong thighs/calves.

Was going to download Couch to 5k podcasts...?

mama_2_3 09-20-2011 08:22 PM

I highly recommend couch 2 5k, and it's free so you have nothing to lose! Good luck :)

healed01 09-20-2011 08:32 PM

but of course :)

healed01 09-20-2011 08:34 PM

I was going to suggest the same on couch to 5k. But even if you start with 9 min run, 1min walk for 20 min for one week, by 2nd week you'll be able to increase your time to 30min and then customize the runs as you go based on your ability. With weight lose running also becomes easier too.

Bejewelme 09-21-2011 06:47 AM

Hey Jayce, I know when you set out on a journal you think who is going to read it, but remember that people read and dont post, and people need support, so I am here too so you dont feel like you are talking at the walls, LOL

I think you have to post on the Halloween Challenge, I made us a fancy chart :)

Dedicated 09-21-2011 07:03 AM

ceecee08 09-21-2011 08:26 AM

DesertGurl 09-21-2011 09:05 AM

Hi Jayce, welcome to the wonderful world of support! :) I'm just beginning again as well so I will be here to cheer you along the way. I am doing a half marathon(walk/jog) next July and have barely begun to walk this week. I'm going to start the c25k next week as a way to start training (thanks amber!). I am so excited! If you decide to do it, it will be great to have someone to compare notes with (and complain with :hyst:) and keep eachother going. Best of luck to you, you can do this!!!

Dedicated 09-22-2011 04:15 AM

Morning sunshyne!!!!

Jayce 09-22-2011 07:07 AM

Morning, love! Will post more later to address everyone's comments (prob. when I get to work, lol).

Yea, my 1 knee can be a little tricky (it creaks a bit & is a lil' sore every now & then since I've been heavier), so I'm hoping that C25K will let me build up my tolerance for running. At least I have plenty of time to train before my first race (May 20, 2012).

Awesome...I'm definitely doing it since I already paid for it. ;) A half marathon, huh? Wow! Cle (Dedicated) & a few other ladies did one before...
I am definitely down for helping each other along the way.

So, I weighed 229.4 today...I would really love to get to 225 within the next few weeks. I haven't gotten below 224 since 2006, I believe. Sheesh.
I believe that I will do it this time though...at least I'm not 255 anymore, so that's a blessing.

Today's Menu (so far):

Breakfast: 2 XL eggs poached over 1 slice of Nature's Own 40 Calorie 9-Grain bread w/ butter (6 carbs a slice), 1 banana
Lunch: Deli turkey & 1 slice Kraft American cheese w/ mayo on 2 slices Nature's Own 40 Calorie 9-Grain bread (12 carbs for 2), string mozzarella cheese. 20 oz Pepsi Max.
Snack: 1 medium golden delicious apple w/ 2 Tbs. JIF Creamy PB.

Jayce 09-22-2011 04:49 PM

Ok, so I'm going to take a tour of a nearby gym after I leave work. I know he's going to try to talk me into joining, lol...hope it's within my price range. :)

Dedicated 09-22-2011 05:52 PM

where is the race? I'm def considering doing it with you......

Let me know...If it's doable...it's motivation to train (although I told Marl and Tyl I would never) LOL don't tell them LOL

Psmileyf 09-22-2011 05:53 PM

I always want to sign up for a race.
Maybe one day I will actually do it. I want runner's legs too!

Best of luck!

Jayce 09-22-2011 07:50 PM

Cle: It's in Richmond, Va, area at a state park. I may sign up for another one before it just bc I am going to start training within next month.

Paula: Thx for stopping by. ;)

ceecee08 09-22-2011 08:13 PM

I liked it a lot...I ended up joining. Prices are comparable to the Y & it's way bigger, has more equipment & group classes I like, and it stays open 2 hours later. Won't be going today since I came to work at 7:30 and am stuck here till closing since the night person didn't show up. :annoyed:

I am excited about the gym though!
