I think I need to start doing strength training for my legs to help with not getting injuries while running....I am just intimidated by the weights at the gym though bc I'm worried it's gonna take me forever to figure out the settings/how to use them!

Today hasn't been a good day...TOM is still here, so hormones are still in play. I had to tell someone at work that he & I have to sit down Monday and go over some things b/c I've been receiving complaints about his performance. It made me feel like a bad person to have to tell him that...I've never had to do this before, so anyways...

someone at the gym should show you how to use the machines, almost all gyms will do that at a minimum. Depending on the machine they sometimes have pics of how to do the exercises, or if you can, get a trainer session for like a few times, and have them show you, see strength training/heavy lifting is my fav, I would do that before all other activities! Oh hun, I am sorry to hear about the family issues, that is tough and it seems when they flare over the holidays it is even tougher, I hope things work out, if it is not good for you, push him aside for now and focus on you!
Yes I know what you mean about the seasons, I leave at 3:30 and it is getting dark I hate it, I seriously have that seasonal mood disorder I think. If she rushed you through the machines you should make them show you again, my gym had little cards that you could write the seat #, the adjustments, the weight, etc, and then I used to pull that out so I knew how to set things at first, maybe take a piece of paper and write it all down. Another thing is you can write down the brand of equipment and the various machines then google them, there are tons of videos to show proper form, that is key!!You can do so much harm not using good form! Yes just take C25k nice and slow and practice your stride to learn what doesn't stiffen you up, stretch like crazy afterwards, that should help. I will say I am loving yoga, wow the stretches are awesome, and after lifting heavy all week it feels so good to stretch. If you see someone running on the treadmill, maybe ask them for some stance advice, most people feel flattered. Keep your chin up hun, you got a lot going on, but you are doing great, and you can keep doing great, taking care of you is the priority!

Yea family problems can be tough... Hell I have them all it seems!! But just push them to the side and focus on you!! You have to live your life regardless of what other people are doing. I have realized that now. |

Hang in there honey!
I can sure relate to family issues. It's a year this month that I have had no contact with my family. Traditionally we have always gone to CA to be with my family for the week of New years..its all my kids know and my oldest is 19. It's a hard time of year anyways, but then I got 'extra b.s.' going on yanno... but I am determined to not let it get to me. I've had a few days of feeling sorry for myself and now I'm kinda over myself. Chin up girl, you have done ALOT for yourself already you cannot let that all go to waste! Love ya chicky!

Thanks, Amber...yea, the holidays will be kinda rough, but somehow we'll make it. I just came back from the gym. Ran a bit to help alleviate stress! My calves still hurt, but I'm gonna keep trying.
