I have re-read my journals at different times too. My most frustrating part is last year when I got pregnant with Austen and I *swore* I would keep my eating in check and not regain all my weight. Ha. I am in this situation because I am a carb/sugar addict. If I had stayed LC, I would have never regained almost all of my weight, I would not have had gestational diabetes (probably), I would have never had an 11 lb. baby. I feel guilty and sad that Austen weighed that much at birth. He is perfectly healthy (and only 16.5 now at almost a year, LOL) but it was totally irresponsible of me to value food over the health of my child and I really feel like that is what I did. I was in denial about my GD diagnosis because my numbers were borderline which made me not take it seriously. There. My confession for today.

Today is a new day, no more looking backwards. You can do this and be successful and see your way to goal, I know it! I know it's hard to look back and see your progress and look at the present and think, wow, what have I done, but honestly where does that get us in the dwelling?! Most important thing is to keep moving forward. That has been my motto this whole last year and it's kept me motivated and still trying.

You got this, babe. We're all here with you!

Yes I am back with a vengeance. I am glad that I can be a motivator for you. I did the same thing as you and came to pretty much the same realization. I started to look at my journal and got depressed at where I was and where I am. So then I just looked at pictures and that made me feel better.
We can only look to the future and not dwell on the past. We can so this and this year is our year!!!!!!

Katy - I so get the mom guilt. I have a lot of that for various reasons. It's the biggest part that I'm trying not to hold on to. I can't change the past.

With everyone setting some fitness goals, it got me thinking about my own. I used to love running. I played soccer in HS and ran a few 10ks. I used to be fit, albeit I was still 170s, but fit and size 10/12. So I told myself that I need a running goal again. I think I'm going to join a few others that have posted here and do a 1/2 marathon. I'm looking at the Disney Wine & Dine in November. It would coincide with a holiday weekend, a non-busy work time, and DS' birthday. May be a perfect time to do somehting like this. Registration isn't open yet so I have time to contemplate still.

Amber, that Disney run sounds like so much fun! I have a friend who was planning on doing it with her DH and bringing her kiddos, but she went and got pregnant

I agree, mommy guilt is tough...the worst kind. We just have to forgive ourselves and look forward. There are so many things I wish I could change, but you know what? I cant do anything about it now! One day at a time.

Amber don't be harsh on yourself. This journey is one that has so many twists and turns. I hate that I'm in the 250s when just a couple of years ago I was under 200 and feeling wonderful. But while we can't change the past, we CAN change the future. And each pound that we lose now will help us feel better. I'm kind of hoping that when, not if, I get back down there I'll remember how I feel right now and be more vigilant.

The Disney runs sound awesome and are definitely goals of mine. Back when I was under 200 I was running regularly. I need to get some pounds off before I restart. My knees are crap to begin with and all this extra weight really doesn't help. I will so be watching with interest what you decide. It's a great goal!

Let's do it together, Amber! I committed to do the Gladiator Dash with a friend of mine in June and then 5k with her at another time (I get to pick the race). I used to run over 3 miles every morning before I met DH and gained my weight. I love the runner's high, I just hope my knee holds up! I injured it when I ran and sometimes it flares up if I go down stairs too much in a day.

Laura - I too need to get some pounds off before I start really training. I figure I can concentrate on walking/jogging and losing weight until June/July. Then I'll start increasing the speed/miles.

Katy - I used to run daily too back when I was younger. I did one 10k and loved it. I've never raced in another race before. I'd love to do a warrior run or gladiator dash type of event, but I need to make runner friends first. I figure those are more team runs and I cannot convince DH to do it with me. I bet you'll have so much fun doing it!!!

My weekend was meh at best. My head wasn't screwed on properly last week. I somehow started off the year in a not so great place. But I feel better now. Onward and downward.

Hey girl. It was a success. I had a shake, coffee with cream, salad with chicken on top, grilled hotdogs, and a spoon of p'nut butter. Not perfect, but much better than the day prior.

Today is going well too.

Your menu looks good! Are you still doing UD/DD rotations along with LC? I think I will eventually try to incorporate that as well, but for now I am just following calories. I think if I keep my DDs lower carb it's much easier because I'm not as hungry. Eggs seem to fill me up and they are only 70 calories each

Not yet, Gracie. I tried this weekend and then quit that pretty fast. Just back on LC. Will start rotations probably this Sunday.

Vilya.

Nothing really new to report. I'm contemplating switching up my plan. If I can't get going fully on LC, then I'm spinning my wheels and that doesn't serve a point.

But Amber, give yourself credit for the attempts! That's so much better than doing nothing which is usually the method I employ when I'm off the reservation! LOL! Like Dani said, we are here for you, friend!

Thanks everyone.

I'm going to follow Danielle and try regular JUDDD without restricting calories. My first DD will be Sunday. I'm going to give it 2 weeks. After that, if I don't feel like it's a good fit, I'm going to switch to either WW or back to LC.

I'm actually excited to try something different for a bit and take a breather from LC.

Hi Amber I'm totally confused - LOL! How do you do JUDDD without restricting calories? I agree, though, give it 2 weeks before changing anything. Tomorrow is my one week weigh in since starting back JUDDD and UD/DD rotations - hoping for some good results!!!

That was my question too!

I DO restrict my calories...... unfortunately

Amber, I'm excited to see how you do. The switch may be just what you need to kick you into high gear again. Having a plan to keep moving forward is always a positive step. Go girl!

Oh my gosh...hahaha...maybe I should proof before I submit my posts!! I meant without restricting my carbs. I'd absolutely love a restriction free plan, but that's my gain-weight-as-fast-as-you-can-plan and I already have that mastered.

So, my plan is to start with a JUDDD DD tomorrow now. My plans got switched from tomorrow to today, so I will do my first DD tomorrow w/o restricting CARBS.

Oh, and I also meant to say that I was following in the footsteps of both Danielle and Gracie.

Today is day 1 of JUDDDing with zero restrictions, except the calorie restrictions of course! So this is kind of exciting that I can eat whatever I want. I didn't prepare to do this so I looked through my pantry/fridge/freezer last night before bed and gave it some light planning. I eyed oatmeal (160), biscuits (170), cereal (150+), potato chips, sandwich bread, etc. It's funny that even without the meat/cheese, 500 calories can go FAST when you don't have veggies or low calorie things around.

My plan for today is:
B: oatmeal (160)
S: coffee w/ splenda and cream (100)
L: small chili from wendys (210)
S: diet soda (0)
---
Approx 500 calories

Looks good Amber! I try not to stress about getting to exactly 500 calories for the first two weeks. It takes a little while for the Sirt1 to kick in to help with hunger. I try to keep it as close as possible but if I'm starving I'll eat some baby carrots or something small. Once the Sirt1 kicks in the DDs are MUCH easier. There are a lot of low calorie foods too. Fat-free hot dogs, frozen meals, raw veggies, salads, pretzels, baked potato, fruit, eggs, etc. - once you get in the groove it gets easier. Also, do not weigh until you get a good week of rotations in because you are coming off of low-carb. You may have a small jump because of adding carbs in and I don't want you to get discouraged. I think you are going to do fantastic! And remember, if you are craving something today just tell yourself you can have it tomorrow! You can even buy whatever you are craving and it eat tomorrow morning

Thanks, Gracie. I ended up eating maybe 100 more calories that Friday, so it was closer to 600. Saturday was my birthday dinner, so I didn't count calories. But Sunday I was right around 500 again.

Sunday I had:
Coffee w/ cream
oatmeal
diet coke
bite of steak, bite of brocolli

Woke up today so excited that I get to eat. Made some recipes from emilybites and skinnytaste for this week.

B: coffee w/ creamer; baked oatmeal/pumpkin square
L: turkey sandwich on 100 calorie round (used low fat yogurt based dressing in place of mayo); apple slices; pretzels
S: fiber one bar
D: beef w/ brocolli over portion of rice (made this in crockpot yesterday and it was AMAZING!)
S: WW icecream bar
---
1800-2000 calories

I have to say, this was amazing and I only ate one piece of beef and one of brocolli. DH said it was our best "at-home-attempt-at-chinese" ever. Next time I plan to incorporate more veggies - maybe water chestnuts, snap peas, etc. Very good.
