Heidi!!!!

another singer....what a fantastic thread this is! In my dotage, I've begun to spend quite a bit of time with jazz. It's definitely the total opposite of my career as a dramatic coloratura soprano...but it is FUN. My chest voice has always been pretty resonant and it's fun to sing in a totally word oriented way...just chewing on syllables that are particularly tasty and kind of mewing through other places...I've toyed with the idea of going cruise ship when my kids are all grown and being a piano bar entertainer on the high seas

Morning, all! I weighed with fear and trepidation and the news is both good and bad. The good: the half pound bump up is gone. The bad: exact same weight as Saturday. That smells like a stall to me. So I'll just have to outwait the sucker, I guess. An observation from my trip to week 4--it is not pleasant to eat 500 calories a day and not lose any weight. It's hard without the excitement to power you through the hunger!

Diva, I've noticed that opera singers seem to excel at jazz singing. (And it's nice to have a whole new musical career out there calling your name--heehee!)

Jessica, do an apple day! If it's too late to do it today, start tomorrow. Eat a maximum of 6 apples, drink minimally and wake up to the whoosh you've been desiring all these many years. The weight stays off after the apple day and you continue to lose more.

Diva, that would be fun, wouldn't it? I'm no singer but I used to say I was going to be a cruise ship nurse when I was back in school.

Diva, you're one of those people on LCF that have names that cause me to think of a certain song. "Private Dancer" from Tina Turner always pops into my head when I read your name.

Thanks, Cheryl. That is exactly what I plan to do tomorrow. Gonna buy the apples while I'm out taking daughter to Lunch Monday.

Good girl! I know the plan says to drink only as much water as you need to (keeping it very minimal) but I was in my coffee kick back then and I drank my usual 2 pots and still lost. I chewed sugarless gum, too. Still worked! But do what you feel.

Cheryl,

I've noticed some folks mentioning a "rebound" after an apple day. Have you noticed that at all, or does the scale stay down for you after you take an apple day?

I've never had a rebound and Dr Simeon said there would be no rebound too. I wouldn't bother doing it if it only gave me a false low on the scale for a day or two.

cool!

"private dancer"....hehehe That's funny And yeah....I think it would be really fun to work a ship or two. I have a student who does it...and while she gripes about it a lot, she has had plenty of opportunity to do other things and hasn't...so I think it must be pretty good. The money is certainly good.

Ok, even though I REALLY want some chili for dinner, I'm going to have shrimp cocktail and some sliced cucumbers. Gotta try to hustle this stall along....

Apple day sounds wonderful to me. I love apples and eat them so often anyway. Only I pare them and core them and cut them into wedges. Six to seven apples fixed this way and weighed out to 34 ounces, makes up 501 calories for a Down Day for me on JUDDD. It works well there too, so I'm excited to see if this won't break your stall, Jessica!

Well, darned if I know. If I do an apple day (rarely), I just eat 500 calories of peeled apple wedges, which is a heck of a lot of little wedges! So for me, it was just another DD choice, but since I like apples so much, it was just something different... just another way to get through a DD without it being just like the others, 'cause with only 500 calories to work with, there isn't a whole lot of food variety that can be worked in and still make up enough food to fill my belly reasonably well.

I'll be interested in seeing if an Apple Day does the trick for you in busting through the stall!

Enjoy your Apple Day tomorrow! If it's a hot day where you are tomorrow, the chilled apple wedges will be very refreshing and delicious. Good luck!

I still don't think you're in a stall. I still think it's water weight from your TOM! Especially if it's the firs in 5 months. Sometimes I swell so bad that (and this very well may be too much information) I can't even get the tampon in!

Hey! How's the marathon training going, and how's P3? Are you finding the stabilization challenging? Tell me all about it!

(And you may well be right about the water thing. The only thing that makes me suspicious of a stall is that eerie "exact same weight down to the tenth of a pound" aspect...)

Training is going fine! Much better with more calories...go figure! P3 is heaven compared to P2! But it isn't as much fun to weigh in the morning. I'm stabilizing fine so far, haven't gone over or under my LDW by 2 lbs. I'm actually looking forward to my second round of P2 just because I just cannot believe how the scale moved every single day practically! I bought some new pants last month and this month they are way to big. It, quite frankly, was a miracle. You hang in there. I think you're just dubious because of your history. TOM will wreak havoc on your body and psyche! It's a cruel joke, really.

Oh, one thing I noticed on P2...which might help someone or not...is that if I waited all day until dinner to eat then ate 250 calories worth of lean sirloin steak (I measured 5 ounces raw), and the rest of the calories with shrimp and cocktail sauce made with Heinz Low Sugar ketchup, horseradish, Tabasco and lemon juice, I was usually down about a pound the next day. I don't know if one has anything to do with the other, just an observation I had.

Hm, kind of protein day....that sounds delightful to me! I'm getting sick of all these apples and cabbage, but I am NEVER sick of meat!

Think I'll give that a try, maybe on Wednesday! I've been eating lots of shrimp with homemade cocktail sauce (I've been using canned tomato sauce, horseradish, cider vinegar and sweetener. So good that I can't imagine ever buying commercial cocktail sauce again!)

Try nixing the veggies/fruit. I actually only ate protein the whole 3 weeks...mainly because I needed it to run, but also because I think it gives me more bang for my calorie buck.

Just weighed in to a .4 loss, so I'm in the horns of a dilemma. I was psyched to do the apple thing, but now I'm wondering if I should? Even with the movement, I am still (though only barely) in the land of 177. The .4 brings me to a "grand" (ok, not very grand) total of .6 lost this week. (and I only have one more weigh-in for the week.) So while it's not technically a stall, I think it would've been one in Dr. Simeons's day--since scales didn't even register half-pounds anyway.

I think I'm going to go ahead and do it, but I guess I've got until noon to decide.

Oh I would seriously do it! Know why? If it works like everyone says it does, it will get you past your 177 and give you that intense boost you need right now! I'm just sayin...
