Yay for being firmly in the 80's!!!! Thanks for the info, I will check it out. As for the steps, a friend posted her workout and she was running steps and for some reason it looked really cool and called to me.

I would definitely try to make it work for the race. Sounds really cool.

Hey girls

We're trying to talk my Mom into doing the race too - wouldn't it be amazing if we could say we all (mom & 3 daughters & DIL) did it together? We went for a run tonight, it was my first good one all week. It must have been the cooler weather because it just felt good. I wasn't winded and my legs felt powerful. Like, at the end I felt like I could do it all over again. Ahhhh, I love days like this . I also did my Bob workout this afternoon, maybe I'll be ready for a rest day tomorrow? Workout-wise anyway. I still have to get groceries, clean house, plan a birthday party, and oh yeah, watch my kids lol.

Just thought I'd share, but I just started using the free MapMyRun app and it's amazing! I don't have to map out a route anymore - just hit record before I leave and gps maps it out for me, then gives me my stats when I get back. It shows my speeds, splits and pace. Love it. Can you tell? lol

Sorry I've been away for a while....I did try to post a few times but my laptop kept crashing on me. If you can read this it must have finally let me post. We had a cowboy party for my baby's 3rd bday last weekend at my mom & dad's farm. Then my sister and dad's bday parties this week. Needless to say, I haven't been 100% on plan. Not horrible, but enough for a small gain. I've been feeling pretty horrible lately, not sure if it's due to the poor eating or if I'm eating badly to compensate for feeling crappy. Probably both, so back to vlc tomorrow. I'm still doing Bob's workout and though it's getting a bit easier, I still ache like crazy the next day. Must be doing something!

So cute!!!! What a fun looking party. I haven't been 100% either but have been able to maintain and then have a small gain. We can both do this and get back on course!!! That running app sounds cool. I may have to try that out. Thanks for sharing!!!

Melanie- you should try that app for sure, even if it's only to track walks. I'm in love with it

Weighed in today....194.0 WTH???? Of course that's what I get for not staying 100% on plan, but seriously?? Ugh. I think it was more all the franken-foods I've been eating lately - Atkin bars, sf ice cream and the like. Clean eating from here on in. I have some sf ice cream in the freezer that I'm moving to the deep freezer so I won't be tempted to eat it. I guess I'm back to tracking again too

I've been thinking a lot lately about the internal changes I've made in the last year and the difference is really amazing. I used to be, well, a chicken. I was so self-consious I hated just walking down the street. I would have cried at the mere thought of wearing shorts in public. I'm still nowhere near my goal weight, but I'm comfortable in my skin. I'm confident and I feel good in my clothes - even shorts. I no longer feel like everyone is staring at me when I'm in public (they probably never were, I just thought they did). One thing I wasn't expecting to change so drastically was my courage level. This weekend (between bday parties) my aunt & uncle called to invite Brian and I to go flying in their little 4 seater plane. To my surprise I said yes! Despite the fact that I don't like flying and I hate small planes. And honestly, if he had asked me 40lbs ago I would have said no out of fear that my ginormous behind would offset the weight of the plane and cause us all to crash. LOL. Anyway, we went and it was awesome! The plane is an old 1960s model, and the inside was red leather - like an old car. Even the headphones were vintage looking. It was really cool to listen to the tower & other planes on the radio. The ride was so smooth, and the views were amazing! I'm so glad we went, I mean seriously, how many people have this opportunity?

Wow that awesome that your courage level is up too!!!!! Its amazing how our weight held us back and we didn't even realize it.

We started at the same place. Monday I was 194.6 after not eating clean and way to many frankenfoods. We know what to do and will be vwl soon!!!!

Awesome about the plane!! I know I would have never gone up at over 300 pounds!!! It is true how you have courage, I played beach volleyball and my boob flopped out, LOL I was slightly embarrassed but I laughed, said wait til you are over 40 and kept on playing, LOL I am sure those 25 year olds are very scared of what their boobs will look like, LOL

I have so much going on right now, and it's still summer vacation! It's going to be way worse once school starts....ugh.

DS started hockey this week - feels pretty rediculous actually - it's like 90 outside but we have to dress in pants & hoodies to wear in the arena. His first day was monday, and he somehow managed to fall on his skate & put a big gash in his knee. It didn't bother him and it had stopped bleeding by the time we noticed it so we let it go. He had a dr appointment anyway Tues am for a booster so I had him look at it then - the poor kid needed 4 stitches! And since we had let it go more than 12 hrs (it was like, 14 hrs lol) they had to make two new incisions so it would stick together. So he got a shot in his shoulder, then like 4 in his knee I feel so bad for him! He had hockey again yesterday so we wrapped his knee up really good under his pants to pad it even more and he did so well. I'm so proud lol

Hey Girls,
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. The last few weeks of summer always seem to be busy & stressful. Planning for school, sports & dance & other kids activities starting back up...it seems neverending. And everyone in the house is battling a yucky cold

My diet hasn't been 100% and I've given in to the occasional weekend binge Oh, and exercise has been pretty much non-existant the last week or two. I finally made it to zumba tonight and I think that was exactly what I needed to get motivated again. Tomorrow I WILL run, and I vow to get up 1hr early once school starts so I can work out before anyone else gets up. I've been taking a bit of a break from the scale. My clothes still fit fine, but the #s have been messing with my head.

DS gets his stitches out tomorrow, gosh I hope it doesn't hurt! He's doing much better at hockey, though he's still frustrated that he's slower than most of the other kids. HUGE improvement over last week though. I bet in a few weeks he'll be just as fast as the other kids.

So my "waking up at least an hour early to work out" thing isn't working out as I planned. The first day of school I rescued a kitten from a fence next door and have been nursing it back to health & feeding it around the clock ever since. I am up until 2am to feed it, then again at 6am. Hopefully by the end of next week she'll be eating/using the litter box on her own and I can go back to focusing on my workouts in the am. Food is still good though, still no weigh in. I'm looking forward to running in cooler weather. I ran twice last week and it was so muggy, I could hardly move. Ick!

I'm really not a cat persone, but I admit, she is cute.

I'm sure I went through this overwhelming period last September too, but man! I'm really having a hard time getting it all in - kids schoolwork, activities, field trips etc. Plus the kitty, the days are getting shorter and I haven't run or worked out in over a week I know I just have to make it through the next week or so and everything will settle down. I have a half marathon to train for darnit! lol

Hey girls

Thank goodness Sept is over! I feel like life has finally settled down a bit -which is wierd becuase I have so much more going on in Oct, but I think we've settled into a groove with school & sports and such. The kitty is bigger now too, and self-sufficient! No more bum wiping or bottles -Yay! lol
Judging by my clothes I've put on a few, but I can already feel them coming off. Last I checked I was up to 192 (last week). I'm back to tracking and trying hard to do am workouts. Running a min 2xs a week, and zumba on Wed nights.
Hmmm...what else is new....My sister is having another baby! Great news, but pretty much puts the brakes to our 1/2 marathon in Feb No worries, I think I will work towards doing a half anyway, even if I have to wait a year and do the one in my town.
I also got a haircut & had her put in red lowlights - they're pretty dark so I'm not sure I like them yet, and the cut is much shorter. I'm trying to get used to it.

Exercise for this week so far:
Mon- Bob's stregth (20 min beginner - didn't have time for the 60 min version)
Tues- Ice skating with the kiddos - 1 hr
Wed- Zumba - 1hr
Today's plan is a min 5k run before dinner.
