I had a wonderful dinner out with some Mommy friends tonight. The steak was the best steak I've ever had! It came with fries, but I substituted homemade pickles instead. I tried two slices of pickles and took the rest home for my husband (they were slightly sweet). I'm so glad I stayed on plan and enjoyed a fantastic dinner out!

Induction Day 5 of 14
Weight: 274.5

Breakfast: Coffee with heavy cream and splenda, 2 eggs scrambled with cheese and bacon
Lunch: meatloaf, collard greens
Snack: gelato and waffle cone
Dinner: protein shake

Totals:
Net Carbs: 64
Calories: 1200
Protein: 73.8
Fat: 69.6

Exercise: Lots of walking all around the city.

We went out for an early father's day lunch. I had meatloaf, and it wasn't until I'd already eaten it that it dawned on me there were probably bread crumbs or some other carb binder in it. Then we walked around for hours in the 95 degree heat and ended up in a gelato place and I ordered a cone. I looked up the nutrition info when I got home and learned gelato has MORE sugar than regular ice cream! I did my best to look up and enter the counts into ******. I just had a protein shake for dinner and I'm not eating anything else tonight.

The gym opened later than I expected today, so I didn't make it down there to sign up. I'm thinking of going tomorrow during my son's naptime.

Tomorrow I'm going to grill chicken, steaks and shrimp skewers! Yummmy and on plan!

A friend of mine participated in this event in March, and I just saw on facebook that they are having it here again in March 2012. I think I want to do it! http://www.ruggedmaniac.com/

Hi Amber and Laura (and everyone else!)

Yesterday wasn't good. Ugh, another weekend, another slip. Nothing to do but get right back on track. Well, and try to make a better plan for next weekend.

What did not work this weekend:
1- Waiting until 2 pm to eat lunch both days! I know better. I know this sets me up to eat for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
2- Planning to go to the grocery store on the weekend. We were doing to much and I never made it.

What did work:
1 - Preparing breakfast for the family at home and having two options for my husband so he did not want to go out to eat.

Next weekend I will:
1 - Grocery shop on Friday if we need anything for the weekend
2 - Cook on Friday so food is available when I am hungry.
3 - Have more quick foods ready (hardboiled eggs, celery, etc)
4 - Continue to cook breakfast for the family with at least two different choices for my husband

Today I will:
Eat on plan
DRINK WATER
JOIN THE GYM. The gym is open until 10. I don't care if I'm down there until then, I am going to the gym tonight.

I did pick up two pairs of workout shorts at Target yesterday so I have something to wear to the gym.

Here's to everyone having a great day today!

Well I know Steph it is easy to cheat, last night I had a blood mary, it was sooo god I wanted like 6, LOL But weekends are by far the most difficult to stay on plan!
Get that booty to the gym, now you got fancy shorts, Wal Mart has a good selection of work out stuff too, my favorite are shirts with a little pocket that holds your ipod,so cute and they are like $7

I did it girls! I went down and joined the gym tonight. You were right, no one was paying any attention to me at all. The gym is actually setup where it's hard to even notice others - it's a huge half circle and the machines face away from each other. I get 3 free introductory sessions for joining. I'm hoping to schedule one a week for the next three weeks. My goal for now is to get to the gym at least 3 times a week.

Thanks Amber and Christine! It was SO nice to have that time to myself. I think I'm going to love going to the gym!

I just did some quick BMI calculations, and I wanted to note of them here:
314 (my highest weight) BMI = 42.6
276 (today's weight) BMI = 37.4
220 = overweight BMI = 29.8
183 = "NORMAL" BMI = 24.8
(using this calculator Healthy Weight: Assessing Your Weight: BMI: Adult BMI Calculator: English | DNPAO | CDC)

After working out last night I slept so well! My son woke up in the middle of the night and I had no trouble getting back to sleep after that. Usually I will toss and turn for a long time after being up with him.

Also, every time I go off plan on the weekend my weight on Monday seems OK, but the gain shows up on Tuesday. I should never look at the scale on Monday and think I didn't do much damage by being off plan.

I am still obese= 31.4 seems sort of crazy!!!

I need to get to 208 to be overweight

I think 165 to be normal, that is pretty thin I am not sure I can get there, I hate those things, they dont factor in muscle or body composition at all, but it is fun to see it go down!!

I know you are going to love the gym, I started off unsure but I got the bug where I wanted to push myself, it is very addicting!!!!

Yeah I think the weight from eating goes up in 2 days, you should make Wed your weigh day, I didnt weigh everyday until recently and I hate it and now i cant stop, I always weighed once a week and that kept me going see the losses!

Guess what?

I've got progress pictures! I spent some time going through our old photos and it turns out I took pics at my highest weight. These are not the best pics, and I don't have makeup on in either one, but WTH, right?

On the left at my highest weight (314) January 2007 (I bounced around that weight until November 2008 when I got serious and started losing)

On the right today at 276.

Wow, what a difference!!!! Great progress!! And please don't take offense to this, but I never would have pegged you at 274. You look better than I looked at 234, and that's no joke! Keep up the great work!

Thanks Angela! I'm really glad I took the time to look for those pictures yesterday. I long ago gave away my largest clothes, and it's hard for me to see that I've made any progress. Looking at those pictures side by side makes it obvious that I really HAVE done something!

Can I vent for a minute about sizes? I went to my Mom's house today. She had on a pair of regular size 18 shorts that she said were a little too big for her. I asked her if I could try them on to see how far I am from a size 18. THEY FIT!!! Now that is fantastic, but here's the thing - the (snug on me) shorts I took off to try on her regular 18s were a Lee size 24W! WTH? How does an 18 Regular fit me when a 24W is snug? I know sizes aren't standard across brands/styles/etc, but really?

And also, Christine - this goes along with what you said about me looking smaller than the number on the scale. (And thank you for that - every time I thought about your comment last night it made me smile!) My Mom weighs 199 pounds at 5'8. I think she is a lot smaller than me, but her shorts fit me? Maybe my body image is all skewed?

The next time I go shopping I'm looking at the regular 18s, there are a lot more options available in that size!

Ugh, I know what you mean about sizes. I've had a full range of sizes in my closet for years now (nothing below a 14 until recently), and they all fit!!! Doesn't make any sense at all to me. A little more standardization would be nice!

I think we all do have a skewed body image; what's inside isn't always what's outside. Example, DH asked me to point to a stranger who reflected how I think I look. I pointed to someone and he said, "No way. She's about 50 lbs. heavier than you are, and not fit like you are." DH is really honest (in a kind way), so I know he's not just trying to make me feel better. Point is, I guess we all have some work to do on perceptions! That's why I think pictures are really helpful!

I'm glad you took my comment in the spirit in which it was intended! You are doing a great job; keep it up!!!

Stephanie!!!!!!!!!! OMG girl look at you shrink!!!!!! I am so glad you posted and you should be super proud!!! Dont get me started on sizes, it is crazy!!!! I have larges, mediums, and 14, 16, 18's it makes no sense, you just wear what flatters and move along!! But tighter is better for showing the new figure!!!

Hi everyone, and happy Friday!
I think I am fighting off a cold. We were busy yesterday and I didn't have the best on plan day. I picked up some Emergen-C lite and I'm hoping that will help.

Hi!!! Sorry I've been MIA. We went out of town for a few days and I decided to "unplug" during the trip.

Unfortunately I also decided to unplug my eating plan. So I'll be starting induction again!

I have 5 weeks until our Florida beach vacation. I WILL lose more weight and be in better shape by that time!

I'm going to the grocery store once my husband gets home so I can restock the fridge and get back on plan.

Hi Amber! It was good to get away, but gosh was it exhausting to get away with a toddler! I told my husband we aren't taking take any short trips like that for a while. If I'm packing up half the house I want to be gone for 5 days or more!

I went to the gym today for my son's swim class. While there I stopped in at the training desk to confirm my appointment for tonight and I'm glad I did - they didn't have me scheduled! I have an appointment for 7 PM tonight. Now I am nervous about it. I have nothing to be nervous about, I know.

My Mom is considering joining the gym too!
