I always subtract the fiber for net carbs. Some people don't, but I always have since it just passes right through you without any impact on blood sugar.

I am so happy for you! You are doing so well! This time around it really clicked for me, too-- after YEARS of ****ing around and not going the distance. It feels so good! you are doing everything right-- keep going!

Hi ladies! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I only have a second, but I wanted to pop in with today's weight: 276.9. I've lost 5 pounds since June 1!

We have a busy afternoon ahead of us. I'll check back in tonight.

Hi Becca, Thank you!

Oh, yesterday afternoon turned bad. I felt like I had a plan and a backup plan for eating right, but the restaurant forgot to put ANY meat in our takeout order! I ate a few green beans, feeling sure there would be burgers at the party we were going to. There was only cake, fruit and veggie wraps. No protein in sight! By that point it had been many hours since I had eaten, and when I ended up with a small piece of cake in front of me I just ate it.

Oh well, that's the past, today will be better!

Stephanie it looks like you have been doing great. One little slip up with cake due to the circumstance of no other food being available won't derail you. You have the right attitude to just get back on track immediately. In the future maybe you can have an emergency snack in your car or purse that can tide you over until you can get home. Maybe a Slim Jim or small bag of nuts?

Frankie - Thanks for the slim jim suggestion. I had been trying to think of something I could keep handy in my purse and I had completely forgotten about slim jims. I'll have to pick some up to keep nearby just in case.

Amber - I'm in this for the long haul!

Today was a great day. I took my son to our neighborhood pool and I did some pool walking, kicks, jumps, etc while he hung out in his little float.

What I ate today:
Breakfast: 3 sausage links, coffee with heavy cream and Splenda
Lunch: Ham with a tiny dab of mayo, EAS Advantage shake
Snack: hardboiled egg, mozzarella string cheese stick
Dinner: hamburger patty with cheesy broccoli and cauliflower
Snack: SF Jello

Totals:
Net Carbs: 17
Calories: 1405
Fat: 113.2
Protein: 76.3
Water: 100 oz

I love the pool! We have a local one we like to go to. Ideally, while my son takes lessons on one side, my husband and I are in the free swim area taking some relaxing laps and chitchatting-- and when the lesson is over he and my son bomb the pool from the diving board like maniacs, and I continue my laps. Doesn't always work out that way, but this summer, that is the plan!

Good morning Laura! I hope you have a great day too!

Angela - I've always loved going to the pool and swimming! I'm starting a Mommy and Me swim class with my son tomorrow. I hope it turns out to be a least a little exercise for me too.

This morning I weighed in at 278.7. I don't really understand the jump but I plan to have another excellent day today and hope it swings back in the other direction.

I think I figured out the scale - it is bloat thanks to my period showing up a few days early.

What I ate today:
Breakfast: sausage, coffee with heavy cream and splenda
Snack: hard boiled egg
Lunch: hard boiled egg and cucumber with ranch dressing
Snack: iced coffee with half and half and splenda
Dinner: 2 sausages, raw broccoli, celery

Totals:
Net carbs: 18
Calories: 1205
Protein: 47
Fat: 103.7

A pretty light day, I know. I went shopping tonight and bought some snacks and ingredients for dinner for the next two nights.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

The scale stayed the same today, but I know what's going on there.

I am very proud of myself today - I am eating more. My son's first Mommy and Me swim class was this morning, and I packed string cheese, pepperoni and my water in a lunch bag and carried it with me for an after-class snack. Boy was I glad I did! Mommy and Me classes are lots of work for the Mommy! 30 minutes of pool walking, treading water, pushing, pulling, lifting and jumping with a 27+ pound weight in my arms!

I really like the gym where the class is held. It's the wellness center of our local medical school/hospital (MUSC). I once joined the gym there, but I found it really intimidating. Most of the people working out there seem to be medical students, doctors or other medical professionals and they are in really good shape. We were there for over an hour total today, and in that time I only saw one overweight person in the entire gym. I'd really like to be a member there again, but I wonder if I can overcome that intimidation factor? I think they offer one month and three month memberships. Maybe I should look into just one month to see how often I can really make it?

I finally took some before pictures yesterday. I found a way to setup my camera on a bookcase and use the timer so I could take them myself. I was able to get full-length body shots that way. I've just been reading a blog of a woman who lost 60+ pounds doing a program at the gym I want to join, and at the end she strongly encouraged everyone to take progress photos to be able to look back and see the difference.

I've got to run. II hope to have a chance to catch up with everyone soon. It's been a busy few days.

Familiarity = No Intimidation. Just get in there. After a few times you will feel right at home! The people there will either be really nice or will completely ignore you-- both are just fine! I faced the same thing going into the rec center gym here-- the very first time I was intimidated because I didn't know jack squat. Once I got to know the equpiment and got a small routine going, and the same people smiled at me every time-- now I can walk in like I own the joint. LOL! You can do it!

Sounds like you are having a wonderful day! Keep up the positivity and the good work! You will win!

Steph- I was so opposed to the gym I said do you have a one month membership and he said no I will let you come for a month, and I hid upstairs doing the bare minimum, then as time went by I started branching out, and now I dont give a crap who sees me sweating my fat hump off, I love it, you just gotta not care, you are young though after 40 you really dont give a squat what others think, LOL

Plus if they offer daycare your son will love it too, a little diversion for him, do it I am telling you!!! You will lose inches feel better and be gald you did do not wait!! I bet I would be under 200 now if I had started the gym back in September!!!!

You are right about that, Amber. After 40, what other people think of me is not my business! (Although I may have begun this a little early in my Glamazon years. No one can wear a clear Car Wash dress and care what other people think!)

Thanks for the support! My Mom said the same thing when I told her I was intimidated - she said when I got to be her age I wouldn't care about things like that anymore. Really, what is there to be intimidated about? People should be applauded for getting out of their comfort zone and exercising and trying to improve their health! I'm not joining right now, but I'm definitely considering it in the near future. I think if I went a few times I'd get over it.

My thighs are sore this morning from the swim class yesterday! I love swimming and it's such a great workout. We have a nice neighborhood pool and I've been thinking if my husband can get home at a decent time during the week I could go swimming there in the evening.

I have a meeting today for a little freelance work I do. I'm planning to just have coffee there and I'm packing a lunch for later.

I made heroin wings for dinner last night - those are SO good! I'd forgotten how much I liked them. I seem to be in a pattern where I get ridiculously hungry around 3 or 4 pm. I'm not that hungry earlier in the day, so I'm not eating very much. I think I need to try to eat more earlier in the day and spread what I'm eating more evenly. It's hard to prepare dinner when you open the fridge and want to eat everything.

I hope everyone has a great day!

STILL 278.7! I'm just going to be patient and keep at it. I'm hoping when my surprise early period ends I'll get a WHOOOSH!

My husband is taking the afternoon off so we can go with our son and apply for our passports! We are taking a Disney cruise in November to the Bahamas! We might take him for his first haircut too. How is the time going so fast? How in the world does my baby need a haircut?

LOL DOnt fre the scale it all catches up, you are doig great, with daily weighing you have to prepare for the ups and downs and ups and ups and then whoosh!!!
