Ang, that is so true about "cannonball!" They do all say it!

Today I feel like renaming my journal "Fat Lady Walks Uphill Battle." I'm still exercising every day and eating healthy, but only lost .4 this week.

I know one of my problems is that I'm not drinking water. I drink alot of ice tea throughout the day and regular hot tea, but I hate water. I've tried flavored water but most of them are too sweet or make me feel full. My next challenge for myself is to get in 90 ounces of water minimum a day. That's half my body weight and I think that's the correct amount.

This is going to be tough but I will report back on Monday how I did. Oh, and no more nuts. I started eating them again after ditching them a few months ago so no nuts, lots of water.

TGIF!

Happy Monday!

It was a nice, relaxing weekend for a change. On Saturday DD and I went to the beach and met up with my sister and her husband and 2 boys. Then yesterday my DH finally had a day off so we took DD and my nephew to see "The Smurfs." I thought it was cute and Hank Azaria was amazing as Gargamel!

I indulged in a small handful of popcorn at the movies but other than that, it was a good food and exercise weekend. On Saturday night we cooked squid on the grill. OMG, it was so good! I marinated it in some olive oil, lemon juice and garlic and it was perfect. We tried making it once last year and it was kind of chewy. This time we only left it on the grill for 4 minutes each side. We had the leftovers as cold appetizers last night while we were waiting for the chicken to cook. Yum! We will be making that again very soon.

I'm still struggling with my water intake. I'm nowhere near the 80 ounces that I am shooting for, but I guess I need to work my way up to it.

Hi there!
Today is back to work and back to school in this household. We had a fabulous vacation in PA and were very fortunate to miss all the post-hurricane madness. Our entire town had no power for 5 days. It came back on just a day before we came home. Crazy!

Our Labor Day weekend was great, too. We celebrated DD's 7th birthday on Saturday with a family party. Perfect weather, great company and just good times all around. My little second-grader was all smiles this morning when I dropped her off. She even colored a picture last night for her new teacher, Ms. Rose. I love seeing her excited and not at all nervous and scared like I used to be every year on the first day of school. It does make me feel like I'm doing something right that she is such a confident little thing.

I admit I have fallen off the wagon to an extent over the last few weeks. No excuses though, just getting my big ass back on the wagon and moving on. I stocked up on eggs, spinach and turkey breast so it's back to induction level carbs at least for this week. I also have a gallon of water in my office and I will drink it! [I promise, Amber--LOL]

Well, I had a pretty good food day yesterday considering I have a cold and didn't feel like eating much.

Today since I had time to make breakfast for myself I decided to experiment with my Atkins blueberry almond square. Usually if I'm in a hurry I just have one with a HB egg but I remembered a recipe from my failed attempt at Nutrasystem that I thought might work. I crumbled up the Atkins bar and added two egg whites, some water and blueberry Da Vinci syrup then microwaved it for 3 minutes. It tasted really yummy and was very filling but for some reason it looked like salmon and rice.

I signed up for Amber's Halloween challenge and I'm excited about it. My birthday is at the end of this month and I wanted to challenge myself to losing 6 to 8 pounds by then anyway, so this will be a big help.

Amber, my bday is the day after Bobby's--the 28th. My DD is the 1st, my sister is the 9th, one of my brothers is the 15th and my parents' anniversary is the 19th. We always have one big family party in the middle of the month to celebrate it all.

Yay for our Grams! Mine will be 96 in November. She's become like the leader of the cool kids at her assisted living. At first she hated it and now she's roaming around on her walker with the trolls hanging off it kicking people out of her dinner table because they blow their nose too much or mumble when they talk. I saw her this weekend and she said, "The men in that place are so dumb. I can't waste my time with some dumb old dope. I only hang around with the ladies." Holy crap, she is a character.

Guess what? I lost my vacation bloat! I'm 183.9 today. Whoooosh!!

I haven't been checking in here as much as I should because I feel like I'm just talking to myself, but I've been staying on track. My doctor put me on a new medicine last week because I've been having these horrible hot flashes where I am just drenched in sweat and it's so embarassing. So far it seems to be working. I said to my doctor, "I thought maybe I was just sweating so much because I'm fat." and he said "You're not THAT fat!" LOL! He's so sweet. He said there is no reason to suffer with hot flashes if you are willing to try some things and see if they make a difference. So, we'll see. My mother had this problem at my age too and said it just sucks for a few years and then they stop coming on you. A few years!!!??

Anyhoo, I just had my egg whites and spinach for breakfast and have my water sitting here on my desk daring me to drink it. LOL!

I really do like my elliptical. I haven't been on it as much as I should but I need to get back into a serious exercise regimen in the next few days. A month from today I leave for an 8-day meeting in California and I do a ton of walking there and put in very long days, so I need to be ready for it. This is my 6th year going to this meeting and I train for it like it's an Olympic event. Seriously. I go to bed an hour early for the week leading up to it, cut out all alcohol and exercise every day. I realized a few years ago that it was the only way I could do an 8-day stretch of working without feeling like I was going to collapse. My younger colleagues go out drinking every night when we are there but I'm in my hotel room asleep by 11 so this old body doesn't fall apart.

Last night I had a piece of real bread for the first time in ages. It was our anniversary and I only had a small piece but when I was going to bed I was actually looking forward to clean lc eating today. I do think treats like that are necessary for me personally, but it's good to know I can do it and not fall off the wagon completely.

I'm back! It's been a busy couple of weeks for me and this is my first weekend since last month that I wasn't working or travelling. I'm so looking forward to doing absolutely nothing for two days. Woo-hoo!

Traveling was not good for my eating plan. We worked late nights and everyone ordered bad food. It was not good at all.

This week I'm back on track with the exception of exercise, which I've been too tired to do. I haven't had the nerve to get on the scale but I know it''s bad so for now I'm just sticking to plan and drinking lots of water.

Today I decided that I'm going to write down my meals here for one week. When I was doing it a few months ago I was losing some weight or at least feeling less bloaty around the middle.

So far today, I had a mock danish with a teaspoon of sugar-free blueberry preserves and 2 pieces of bacon.

Yesterday I wore a pair of brown jeans that didn't fit the last time I tried them on. They're 14s but they have alot of stretch so I think I'm still not quite a 14 yet. It's kind of weird though that my weight is up but those jeans fit. I think I will take my measurements this week to see if there is loss of inches going on.
