Do it, Martini!!!
2+ mile walk for me this morning. It was gorgeously green out there after all this rain we've been having. ![]() Tonight is my Girl Scout leader awards dinner. This is my first time eating out on WW PP. It's a really nice restaurant. I'm a little nervous about it but I chose the fish and steamed vegetable selection so I figure it can't be too bad. |

Yeah, Nikki I'm not sure what to make of the exercise points. Since this is only my second week I'm definitely not going to start using them yet. I have 32 already for this week. Maybe when I start to see regular losses I will experiment and see how it works out if I use a few.
Amber, the tracking isn't that hard. I had a harder time when I first started induction and then with JUDDD counting the calories... ![]() My leader dinner last night was fun. They had an investiture for us newbies and I got a pin and learned the special handshake. I took my friend who has breast cancer, she's a leader too, and she got a bunch of awards. It made my night to see her so happy.Well, walk-a-thon day is tomorrow! I'll report back and let you all know how we did. It's supposed to be a beautiful sunny day. ![]() |

I'm back twice in one day because I have noticed something strange and want to make sure I write it down before I forget. I've got pre-menopause brain and can't remember anything lately.
Here's the strange thing. For the last month or so, I have had painful red bumps on my fingertips and a few of my fingers looked permanently pruned, like when you stay in the shower too long. Since doing WW all the bumps went away and my fingers don't hurt at all anymore and they are nice and smooth again, no pruny fingers. I'm wondering if I had some kind of deficiency in my diet from lc that I've corrected somhow. Hmmm... |

Weird....you weren't too dehydrated were you? LC can be dehydrating, and if you aren't getting enough water??? The change might have allowed your body to store more water, filling in the prune fingers again? Just guessing here....

Secret handshake club !!!!
Fingers- that is strange I would say something was lacking, honeslty I think I was less colorful doing low carb, if that makes sense? Like my skin and hair and stuff seems shinier now eating a little fruit and grains again, here is an interesting article I found maybe you need your thyroid checked that is a big problem with us women, I am getting all that stuff checked next month Most people have dealt with wrinkled fingertips, particularly while in and immediately after a bath. You can even have noticed that it doesn’t often occur after you shower, and this also has often puzzled many people. Of course there’s a simple reason behind this though. Any time you’re in the bathtub, your hands are mostly immersed in the water, during which time a little bit of water is going to be absorbed into the upper layers of your skin. Consequently, this causes your skin to swell, and that’s when we witness the wrinkles. Now, we can easily go much deeper into this and additionally explain why you experience wrinkled fingertips in the bathtub, despite the fact that the rest of your body stays wrinkle free, nevertheless in this article we’re a lot more interested in wrinkled fingertips that aren’t a result of bathing or maybe swimming. So, precisely why are some people’s fingertips frequently wrinkled, even though their hands were nowhere near water? I really wish I could provide you with a definitive answer to this particular question, but I’m afraid not even physicians are 100% certain why this happens to quite a few individuals. There is lots of speculation nonetheless, just like there are numerous theories. For example, lots of individuals claim they only end up getting wrinkled fingertips in the course of cold weather spells, that might seems to indicate that it could possibly have something to do with the way in which a person’s skin responds to external temperatures. It’s likewise been documented that folks who are suffering from an under active thyroid are prone to developing puckered or wrinkled fingertips. The overall consensus here is that an under active thyroid tends to lower one’s rate of metabolism, and a lowered rate of metabolism in turn causes a somewhat lower core temperature. When your body is actually cold, your blood vessels along the surface of the skin become restricted while the body tries to preserve warmth, and that may then, theoretically, cause wrinkles to occur. One thing which generally seems to be prevalent between individuals with wrinkled fingertips is the fact that a lot of these individuals put up with really dried out hands, or at least, the skin on their hands and fingers is for the most part very dry. This has also led many to believe keratin deficiency could be to blame, or perhaps partially to blame for puckered fingers. Under usual conditions, you will find especially large quantities of keratin found in the skin on a person’s fingertips. This naturally occurring protein is really important for the purpose of skin health, simply because it fuels the production of collagen, which in turn is responsible for the firmness of skin. Besides being so important for skin, keratin readily absorbs water, so if there isn’t enough keratin inside your skin, the result will be dried-out skin. Even though wrinkled fingertips may well be the effect of more than one underlying ailments, most of the people who have this unusual phenomenon get relief simply by using a good quality hand cream, however one does need to keep in mind that a lot of typical hand lotions may also help make your condition considerably worse due to a number of compounds which can be found in the creams. As a general rule of thumb, it is advisable to avoid using any kind of lotions and creams made from petroleum based compounds, and essentially, perfumed lotions also need to be avoided since many of the fragrances used in cosmetics are particularly hard on skin.

Amber, thanks so much for this info. Thyroid is a huge concern for me because my mom had thyroid cancer but I get it checked every year for that reason and it always comes back normal.
The walk-a-thon was a huge success. It raised alot of money for a great cause and the weather couldn't have been better! |

Thanks for all the Mother's Day wishes. I hope you all had a great day, too. DH gave me breakfast in bed. That man can make a crepe like a French chef. Seriously. You can almost see through them. I had two with fruit and they were fantastic. Dinner at my mom's with the family was great, too. The weather this weekend was just fabulous here.
Well, I'm down another pound this week. WW is working for me. I feel great and my fitness is definitely improving. That walk-a-thon was a piece of cake. If I didn't have DD with me with her stubby little 7-year old legs I would have been done in half the time. This weekend is the dreaded overnight trip with my Brownie troop to the zoo. Ugh. I got talked into this one by the other leaders and I am so not looking forward to spending the night with all those yapping girls. You know none of them are going to actually sleep. They better have a big vat of tea waiting for me in the morning or I will be scarier than the bears in the zoo. Happy Monday! |

No tents, no way!!! We are going to the Philly zoo. You know the treehouse thing they have with the playground in it? That's where they do the sleepovers. It's totally inside. We just have to bring sleeping bags.
I don't do outdoor camping with the tents and campfire crap. I told the other leader when I agreed to help her that if she wanted to go camping she had to do it without me. My DH loves to camp though. He takes the kids to the state park all the time and I stay home with the cats and have the house to myself. |

Oh I would be so happy if I got a day to myself once a month! It's not just the kids you don't want to choke, it would help you to not want to choke your spouse too!
Of course I say this as my 3 yo is covered head to toe in coconut flour that I have yet to clean up. ![]() |
