Just imagine starting from scratch on everything.. that is her right now. She is a very smart lady, but since she can't see well, she stopped driving, and that pretty much took her independence away. She will get it back though, I have faith.

We will help her every step of the way!!! Number one on my list is to get her cataracts removed!!!! If she will let us help with that..

oh boy, that may be tough. My grandfather refused to do so for years until he couldn't drive to get his liquor every day then he hurried up and got it done Afterward he was in awe of how well he could see w/o glasses.

That is too funny!!! Well, she thinks she can walk where she wants to go, but I worry about her crossing a major street!! I think she is just frightened of hospitals right now, and drs... but if she would do it, I KNOW she would be happy to see just like your Grandfather!!

I can understand the fear, who wants anyone messing with their eyes? Is there a family member/friend that have had it and can explain to her how the procedure work and how much better she will see? I can see why you're worried about her crossing the street....

Actually Shari, I had cataract surgery in 2005 and I have told her my experience. However, mine is kind of a different situation since I had a detached retina fixed and then a cataract removed. I don't have the great vision I would normally have if this were a normal cataract.

She also had one removed back in 1980 I believe, but back then they did not put a lense in to correct vision. Times have changed!! that is what I am trying to tell her...

Good Morning Ladies.. yes today is a good day. I have been doing alot of reading about things like the after life... etc... some may think it is crazy talk.. but wow.. I am really intrigued by it..

ANYWAY.. today is going to be a beautiful day.. eating is good.. I am monitoring my blood pressure and have found it is way down since committing to low carb this week.

It had been going up while I was eating crap everyday.. having gone kind of crazy with the carbs in the last month while my Dad was in the hospital my Morning BP was up to 150/100 several mornings in a row.. evening BP was lower, but still high.. 129/89 was the avg.

After only a week of low carbing, my morning BP is back down to 120/79 with several consistant readings. My evening BP is down to 105/69. I don't take any BP meds and never have.

I honestly think for ME giving up sugar has produced these results. I have also been reading about the connection of Sugar and High Blood Pressure. There is also a connection between Diabetes and HBP. Which is that most diabetics also have HBP. This was my Dad's problem also.

So I believe for ME, I have to give up sugar to be healthy. So easy decision. LOW CARB IT IS!.. I feel so much better.

Hope all of you have a fantastic weekend!!!!

Oh Meek, that is wonderful to hear!!! I was sort of thinking I was going bonkers thinking there was a connection between sugar and BP, but with what I have read, and your own situation, I do believe they are connected.

I am so happy for YOU that you are doing what is right for your health also! I want to live a nice long HEALTHY life.. so this is the most important thing to me right now. Anything I think I want, I can make Low Carb. I am satisfied!

Morning Pati! All is well today. The reading that I have been doing over the weekend, is just amazing to me.. and so comforting.. there is no more fear of anythng now. I KNOW all is well.

So I stuck with my low carb eating for about 8 days now.. I am making it work. Weighed in on Saturday at around 4 pounds down since the week before. I will try to only weigh on Saturdays.. more accurate for me.

I am happy with the way things are going with my eating, so I am keeping it up. No more wishy washy mental struggles within myself on what to do. Slow and steady, and most of all HEALTHY is where I am going ... happy with this decision!

Busy Monday so I will visit you all at lunch, have a wonderful day!!!

Great news Deb about your BP and your health - that's what is most important!!! We all need to find what works best for our mind and body. You are doing great!

On another subject - have you ever read about NDE's? Near death experiences are really interesting to read about. Nearly every story is identical and very comforting. What have you been reading? These things interest me very much. I can PM you my email so we don't take up your journal

Yes, indeed I have. I suppose I can't put the link on here but if you google afterlife forums there are wonderful true stories in them. Also Your Eternal Self. There is an ebook for that one. I also ordered the book The fun of dying. Another site I found EXTREMELY interesting was Leslie Flint's site. He has actual recordings of those who passed, and to listen is a m a z i n g!!

No matter what one believes this will definately help you think outside the box!!

Okay cool - I'll check those out. I also have the book "Angels are for Real" - I highly recommend it. It's about a little boy who had an emergency appendectomy and while he was under he said he met Jesus and that Jesus was singing to him. He also met his grandpap and a baby sister that he never knew existed - his mom had miscarried There is also an actual picture of what he said Jesus looked like - apparently a young girl who has visions drew a picture of who she saw as Jesus. The little boy's mom kept showing him pictures of Jesus and he would say "no, that's not him". Then she found the one the young girl painted and he said "Yes, that's him!!" It's an awesome read because he describes heaven and it's very comforting.
