Road trip song of the day: Thunder Road

"You can hide 'neath your covers and study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers, throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain for a saviour to rise from these streets
Well now I'm no hero, that's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's bustin' open, these two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back, heaven's waiting down on the tracks"

Let's roll down the windows girls and enjoy life! Looking at the blessings I have in my life instead of the negatives. Had some deep thoughts on this last night. Instead of being angry about my DS's diabetes, I'm going to try to remember that I still have him with us! Instead of being upset about the pool leaking, the car overheating, etc. I'm going to be glad I have the ability to get these things.

Another thing to make me smile! I was at this show last Nov.! I was just to the right near the stage during this song and many others. What a night!!! So close to my boyfriend!!!!

"shut the f*** up ...!" hahaha moment! Let the man talk!

That video was great!!!!!!!! I'm so jealous that you were that close!
The last time I saw him was June 2000 in Madison Square on my 40th birthday! Oh what a night...

... Love your thoughts about looking for the positive side of things and giving yourself reasons to smile.

Thank you so much for your wonderful upbeat attitude. It is so important to remember all the good things we have to be thankful for. Last night I had a lovely dinner with my honey and watched a good movie with him. How lucky I am! All I have to do is look around and see so many reasons I have to be thankful. It's easy to get sidetracked, thanks for pointing us all in the right direction

Still have the company so very little time on the computer, my aunt is a huge Springsteen fan, LOL You are so right sometimes it is easy to get bogged down with the problems and forget how lucky we really are.

Did you have a good Easter?
Is that your skinny little self in the pic? You were a string bean!

Lizzie- I dont have your number, how are you doing? Hope you had a good Easter as well and things are going well for you!!!!

OK back to work but playing catch up on here, I feel disconnected from my favorite girls!

Amber

Had a nice Easter with half of my kids. DSs didn't make it. They are here often, so it wasn't a biggie DGS had too much candy, and wouldn't eat anything but a few cheese curls. Told you he was a picky eater! He even turned down Nana's leftover steak!

Took me a long time to come down from that one Margaret! A future goal is to make it to Asbury Park!!!

Just a bit of snow Lizzie! Just a tad bit of rain lately too Had a quick but nasty storm roll through here tonight. Lights kept going off and on. Happily they are staying on now.

How've you been Lizzie? Hoping all is ok with you.

Yep, that is me in the pic. back when I was 5. The beach babe! Few, including myself, would have guessed I would have gained so much!

We understand Amber. Your visiting friends should be a priority! Glad to hear Ebay is taking care of things for them

JAN!!! Wowser girl! You are doing so well!!!

Saw 149 yesterday morning, and that was enough to keep me on plan yesterday. The scale returned to the higher number this morning, but may be water retention from the ham! Ate the last SF peanut butter egg. They were perfect for keeping me away from the "real thing"!!!

Didn't get much accomplished work wise over the weekend. Went shopping, but didn't get much. Again, having issues shopping. Tried some swimsuits on, took some pic.s in one in the dressing room. Figured that is the worst I can look, so should be a good barometer for what is needed. Going to compare these with new ones I will take at the end of May. I want to see if there is a change from time to time. Got that baggy, saggy skin thing going. Got some more to lose too. Everyone keeps saying to stop losing, but I see rolls, smaller, but they are stil there...and they are not just excess skin. I have that too in many places. Told DH that I'm giving it a year and doing all I can to take care of it, then going to check into some other method if it isn't improved. We'll see. I know that a lot can change in a year.

Easter makes me miss my dad. He passed away a few days before Easter. We went to be with him during his last days. Though Easter was a lot earlier that year, Easter no matter what the date is the anniversary of this in my heart. I know that he is with my mom who passed a year before, but I still miss him. We got to visit him a few months before this, and I saw another side of him that he never let out before. His soft, vulnerable and fun side. He was always the tough gruff man. A sergeant in WWII (yes, Lizzie, the Sarge's Sarge!) So glad my youngest DD got to go with us. Since they moved to FL years before she was born and then health problems prevented much travel for them, she didn't get to spend a lot of time with him.

Laura: the Easter basket story (short version since I'm going to cry my eyes out soon): Shortly after an Easter years ago, my dad was trying to find my mom's favorite candy for her. All he could find was filled Easter baskets on clearance that included this candy. He bought them all! Gave her the candy and...as he put it...tossed the now empty baskets in his shed. The next year, he saw them and decided to give them to a group that helped those that were down on their luck in his area (many had lost jobs that year). He bought stuff to fill them and took them to them. I'm talking lots of baskets! This was the start of the Easter Basket program in his area. Every year after that, they would gather items and baskets to make sure no child in the area had to go without a basket. They named the EB program after him. I knew he had donated them, but never realized the importance of what he did until I visited the center with one of my sisters while he was in the hosp. He was even worrying about them during his last days in the hosp. until we told him we would take care of it. You could see him relax after that. The love that they had for him and the admiration for what he had been doing was overwhelming. He almost daily brought them items that he would find at the local stores for the needy. Now, you know why your news story made me bawl my eyes out. What a wonderful thing they have done in your area!

Another thing to be thankful for: I got to be with him before he passed. Missed this opportunity with my mother.

Hoping everyone is doing okay after Easter. Thanks for being here for me.

Ugh Kitty am bawling now with your story too! What a wonderful thing!!!!

I think you are way too hard on yourself, LOL I am sure you look fabulous, 149 I would be dead 6 months underground to weigh that, LOL I know about the skin, it sucks and I am sure that is what is making you think you have rolls, but honestly it can be removed, LOL I know! Work at firming and exercising and in a year if not happy come out to me and get hacked, I will take care of you, LOL Being a teacher you are lucky you would have the whole summer to heal. I am a big fan of plastic surgery now, like my doc said getting the weight off is the hard part, everyone deserves to feel good about themselves after this long journey, everyone has their areas they just loathe, and if you can fix it go for it!!!!! I just need to rob a bank to get all this fixed, LOL

Yeah looks like the transmission guy near me can put in a rebuilt tranny for about $4,000 ebay will pay to repair it then they can get under way, probably not til Fri or Sat, LOL Its cool thought yesterday I came home she had all the leftovers ready, did the laundry cleaned the house, I said I want to marry her, LOL

Kitty - awww, beautiful story. Your Dad was a good man. I'm sorry for your loss and the pain it brings at this time of the year. Hugs!!!

Amber - yes, please rob that bank and then we can all get the extra skin cut off and stay with you and you can take care of us while we heal. LOL - Can I get a boob job too? He he - my tummy needs to be done so bad. But I'll probably never do it, unless we win the lottery or something. Oh well.......

Hugs Frenchie and Lizzie...Holidays can be tough for those of us who have had losses. Sounds like many of us here have. Group hug time!

Yeah, I am hard on myself Amber. I am my own worst critic. Always have been; probably always will be. Beat everyone to it before they can put me down I guess. Middle child thing maybe. Healing at Ambers. Sounds good! Hoping this old skin has some bounce left in it! LOL My older sister lost a lot more weight than I did. Going to check with her to see how she is doing with it in case the genetic thing is part of it. She is a lot smaller than I am right now. She went vegetarian (too many years and memories from her life on the farm with her x) Yep, hit the lottery, will have one of each!!! Movie star style!

Amber:Your guest sounds devine! She must really appreciate all you are doing for them. I'd keep her around for a while!!! Send her this way!

Rain? This place will be a rain forest soon! More rain coming too! The ground is spongy and squishy. Only good thing, we are getting ahead of the leak in the pool so far! Now to get it topped off, running, and cleaned, then the pool leak specialist can come to check it out. Hoping it isn't too big of an issue.

Got the puppies' new kennel up. Hoping that it will contain the escape artists.

I so want to start working outside, but with the rain and colder weather, it isn't happening. Got a ton of river rock to move. I'm not joking! It is at least a ton or 2 I really think that is what I need. Some fresh air, sunshine, and good hard labor.

Got to head into work early tomorrow. Getting an observation and want to make sure everything is ready.

Road trip song of the day: Brass in Pocket Let's remember that we really are special ladies!

Good tune Kitty!

Ughg we have had a heat wave it was 86 and so humid, now of course Bobby has baseball tonight and it looks like rain, so we will see!

Yeah the company is getting to me a bit, but you know it is what it is and they would do the same so we keep keeping on! LOL

WOW a ton of rock is a lot, and that is hard labor,I love rocks I would so help you but I would stop and look at them all and not get much done, LOL

Have a good one, I hope the observation goes well!

FF: So glad you joined me here! You and the others on the thread have inspired me from day one here on LCFs! I owe a lot of it to you! Thanks doesn't seem like enough!

I think the observation went okay. At least there wasn't any major disasters! Have to wait till probably next week to get the report/interview for it.

Youngest DDs BDay today. She's 22....WOW...where have the years gone? Doesn't seem that long ago that I was 22. May be getting old and saggy, but at least I am weighing about the same as I did then!

Can't wait to get to moving the rock. I really don't like where it is right now. Loaded and unloaded that rock by hand from a friend's relative's home. They wanted rid of it, and we wanted it. You used to be able to buy that type around here by the truckload, but things change This is what we did the rest of our landscaping with, and we wanted the same thing to finish it. It needed to match, so we are recycling rock to do that. DH decided to pile it along the pool fence when we unloaded last fall. Not sure why there, but it is there. So, got to move it to the opposite side of that area now after he finishes off the bottom of the fence. Trying to give the pool area a beachy type theme. Can't dump sand around it for obvious reasons, so it will be rocks, decorative grasses, etc.

<a href="http://s882.photobucket.com/albums/ac24/summergardener/pool%202011/?action=view&amp;current=april2011003.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac24/summergardener/pool%202011/april2011003.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Back later. Got to take my pup to get his stitches out.

Kitty did you put the weed block paper down first? I made a rock garden of our rocks to cab and make jewelry outside, and I didnt put the paper down now it is a big problem, I gotta spray it and then it kills my grass too! LOL

That rock is big that is going to be a back breaker but it will look nice, better than mowing or weed whacking that little strip,

I think we need a song for the weekend! It is beautiful here!!!

Enjoy DD b-day you sound so young, I am sure that is hard to believe!!!!

Hugs!!!

Road music!!! I think we need this!

My Beatle Crush

Good idea Jan! Throw in some beer and maybe.... Would be afraid too many would end up in the pool though!

Some are huge for river rock! Love it!

Nah, no weed fabric under there. DH just said put it here. It won't be there perm. I want smaller stuff there so the chairs/lounges will rest on it better. It goes to the other side of the pool. The corners there slope. filling that in with dirt, then the rocks. Through in some tall deco. grasses, and assorted beachy looking items and hoping it comes off the way I want it. Putting weed barrier under it over there.

This is what one of the 2 areas I want them looked like last year while building up the area. Got to wait for DH to finish the bottom of the fence so that it stays put and nothing crawls under.

Got my elliptical in. Did 20 min.s and then 2 reps with weights for strength training of upper body. Will do some crunches here in a bit. Workin' it!

My eyes hurt so bad last night that I couldn't keep them open for long. I hate being sick

Rain off and on here so far Hoping the sun is out for you all!

Club meeting at my house (actually in the garage!) this evening. Gettin' my redneck on girls! Take a guess what "redneck" event it has to do with!

Spare room redo update:

Covered head to toe in spackle dust today. Going to get this finished if it takes all day and night! DH came in on his own (yes, on his own!) to cut the corner strips for me. Decided the spackle route wasn't going to work in the corners, so going with trim strips painted to match walls.

Here's one for my "redneck" girls!!! Hell Ya!!!

Back to work for me now!

Got my exercise in for today:

20 min.s on elliptical
2 more sets of weights for upper strength training
Set of lunges with weights too
Crunches started

Slow start, but doing it! That counts for something...doesn't it?
