Actually that's not really true. You would be amazed at how many things we CANT get. Yes I can get pate and some nice cheeses, but the range of items we do without covers every area. Simple things like some flavors of extracts, corn meal is hard to find, baking soda, epsom salts, canned mandarin oranges, pudding mixes, anything with peanut butter, cheddar cheese is rare and expensive, monteray jack, pepper jack, any mexican flavored cheeses, most salad dressings, anything cranberry including canned cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin, and pie filling (any flavor) Most canned fruits except peaches, pears and pineapple, I could go on with this list all day. It really is kinda weird!

I think most people think the same think Laura LOL. Fact is that we as Americans are SPOILED ROTTEN. Seriously. We can get anything we want (and I mean anything) at any time of the day practically in the US. There is food where ever you turn. Vending machines, 24 hour shops, food in the pharmacy, where ever you look. Here there is NO food in pharmacies or anyplace else for that matter except grocery stores, it was a very hard thing to get used to.

Diane I bet it did take some getting used to, you're right about food being
everywhere here that's why the US has the highest rate of Obesity in the world.

I wouldn't doubt it Laura. I mean it's staring you in the face no matter where you go there. At least here I dont constantly spend my time drooling whenever I am out of the house

...although I DO have the bakery just a block from my house

Diane I pass the best bakery we have here on my way to work every morning, it's name is Sandra's and they have the best yeast donuts in the world, at least my world. When I was eating HC I would stop in there some mornings and get Minnie and I a donut for b'fast, now the poor thing has to eat cold cereal. LOL

Diane, I'm like Marjella and stalled at week three. I'm also finding that I am a slow loser and average about 1/2 pound a week. Some weeks nothing at all. I feel great though and will continue on this WOE.

Well I went and got lots of goodies today and after that trip I can honestly say...I got my exercise today
I found one of those celeri rave...a great big one, lots of other veggies, spinach, mache and spring greens, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. ALso a bunch of cheese but I forgot the mozzarella
Strasbourg sausages YUM! and lunchmeat. I found another sugar free syrup too, agrume which is citrus. Hope I like it.
I will do better now that I have food in the house. I hate being hungry and having to think hard to come up with something to cook. Now I can throw salads together.
I am just going to have to accept that this is going to be slow. I dont want it to be. I want to throw tantrums and kick rocks...but that wouldnt help any. My body is different and it WANTS this fat. I am still trying to figure out what to use for weights. I already have some exercises figured out for upper body workouts. One way or another I will get this done

Hurray! Congrats!

I spent 6 weeks in Europe in 2007, and wow do I know nothing is available over there! I think the average European would **** themselves walking into a Walmart. There's more shampoo in one aisle than there is in the whole city!

It really taught us to 1) live simply and get creative and 2) APPRECIATE WHAT WE HAVE!

I Europe and can't wait to get back there and get screwed over by bus schedules and grocery markets and restaurants and taxi cabs and not find any food for any price at 4pm. Seriously, I'd gladly do it all again just to be there for a while!

Oh it drove me crazy at first, but once I got used to it I started appreciating it. It's how things should be I believe. I don't think it's good for anyone to have whatever they need whenever they want it. People don't appreciate things as much when it's all right there at their fingertips. I do hate it though when I get hungry and all the restaurants are closed

DIane- use some 2 or 3 pound canned goods for hand weights, and then I know you are crafy so you can fasten them to your ankle for leg lifts and stuff that might help you hip!
I know in Europe I was like where the hell is Wally World when you need it, my hair dryer and curling iron blew in Lake Como, my bald BF didnt think this was an issue, I was like dude this is the trip of a lifetime for me i must have good hair, we drove all over creation, then we found them and they were so expensive, he paid just to shut me up, damn bald men, LOL
Now you can make a special Easter dinner for you guys!!!

Have a good one,
Amber

Great idea Amber!

I would love to visit Europe. Maybe one day before I die, we will get to leap across the ponds to visit! Oh the art I would see and the wine and grass fed cattle and raw milk cheeses I would eat!

Go shop and fix something truly wonderful Diane!

Amb I love the idea for the hand weights girl!!!

Have a great day Diane!!!! Hope you are feeling better.

Amber everything over here is more expensive. It's nuts! RIght before I was to fly here I told Frenchie I had to go buy some hair dye and do my hair for the trip. He was like "oh no wait till you get here, it's a french brand it will be cheaper." Yeah right. I got over here and not only was it in euros...they wanted TWELVE EUROS A BOX for L'OREAL!!?!?!?! I couldn't believe it. OH, and my coffee grinder, which I could have picked up at wally world for $10, 25 euros! It never ceases to amaze me how much they gouge us over here. I buy a lot of stuff from the US, many times even with the shipping I pay it's still less than here...if I can even find it here.

OH and yes, great idea for the hand weights, I will give that a try. I was also thinking of sewing all our pennies into wrist weights, we have a whole jar and they are heavy!

I am making roast tonight, not sure what we will have sunday. We dont usually do holidays...we just make our own
