I agree Angela, there is definitely something not right there. I also will ask her to check my VIt D as I think it might be low. I need this fixed cause this is not the way to live life. Period.

Diane:
I hope they get it right for you, I think you look very good and your emphasis needs to be on your health, feeling good, not depressed, etc, get that resolved and then work on the weight, I think with the right meds you will level out and then dieting will be easier, the thyroid is such a bugger messes up everything!

Remember we are here whether youa re doing LC or not, no need to white knuckle alone!

I was going to go see doc today but I couldn't even get out of bed! I was so tired it just wasn't happening. Fortunately she has walk in hours tomorrow afternoon so I will definitely go then. Yesterday was a weird day for food. I had that almond butter shake for breakfast with those 2 cookies then I didnt want to eat again till last night. I was stuffed! I made a big salad with spinach, greens, egg, broccoli, tomato and cheese and had that with ranch dressing and two more cookies. That was my entire menu yesterday besides my three coffees. Very strange! I guess that almond butter is more filling than I realized.

I have a big order to do which has me a bit worried. I havent done much work since doc put me on restrictions and now suddenly I have a BUNCH to do. Part of me is excited to get back to work and play with my dyes again, another part wonders if I even have enough energy. Guess this will be a good test huh?

Hi Diane. I saw your posts in Amber and Angela's journals and thought I would pop into your journal to say hi and hopefully get to know you better.

I am hypothyroid too. I was finding it impossible to lose weight in addition to many of the other symptoms you describe before I got treatement. I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I agree with the others that maybe for now, don't worry so much about weight loss (because that will just be FRUSTRATING). Keep seeking to eat well on some level of low carb and pursue treatment. I hope you can convince your doc to test you properly and medicate you properly. I can't even describe to you the difference proper medication makes. It's life changing. If I were in your shoes and couldn't find a doc to treat me, I would make an appointment with a doc in the US (a KNOWN good thyroid doc per nonstickpam's lists, etc.) and get the proper tests and treatments. No kidding. That's how much difference it makes. Weight management isn't even scratching the surface of the difference it makes.

I hope this gives you hope....

DG

hon. I know you will find your way and I'm saying prayers for you!!!

It sure sounds like thyroid stuff to me too. Feel better my friend! You are in my prayers.

I do know that they thyroid board here has SO MUCH incredible information. It will quickly make you an expert in no time at all if you read through it completely. Rather than taking my advice about diet, you oughta go read there and see how the successful low carbs (like DG) have done it, but I too agree with DG, that the thyroid has to be tended so you start feeling better!!!!

Thank you Janet!

DG~ I am being treated with lyvothyrox at the moment just havent had my levels checked since last year. I think she needs to up it or something. We havent talked about it because I didnt realize there was a problem there. I have had so many other health issues we have been dealing with that it went unnoticed. There is no way I could ever go to the US for treatment, just the flight and doctor bills would bankrupt us! The treatments here are mostly free. France has a wonderful health system and I think my doc will do her best to treat me, its just getting there and convincing her that I need it. They really arent used to patients questioning their treatments but I still think she will be willing to do what it takes. She has been very kind and caring with me about my hip and takes the time to try to understand me...considering my french is bad and her english is
I dont know if they offer natural hormone replacement here, from the literature I was able to find online there are several places in europe that do but France was not listed, so I can only ask her. I do know that they use some natropathic remedies and even prescribe essential oils at times, they are not against using what we consider alternative treatment in the states.
SO yes, for now I will just try to eat healthy and take care of myself. I can concentrate on the weight after I get this back on track! THank you so much for the advice though. I do appreciate it

So good that your doctor is caring and willing to work with you!! I hope you can get to the bottom of things and feel right. You will be amazed! Amber is right about the wealth of education available in the thyroid section of this site. Another great site is stopthethyroidmadness if you haven't already taken a look at that one.

Hope you are feeing good today! Please be strong and get in to see your doctor. Remember who you are and don't let that damn thyroid keep you down! You are a woman to be reckoned with... remember?

Thanks Angela, sometimes I forget that when I'm in a fog. I do know my first husband was terrified of me and he was twice as big as me...so I guess I can be a bit...erm...forceful

You wouldnt want to see pics of what I did yesterday, it was BORING. All I did was take skein after skein of white embroidery floss, unwind it, tie them together, wrap them into big hanks, tie them with figure eights so they wouldnt tangle and then go onto the next hank. I have about 14 hanks done and ready to dye. Today if I have enough energy I will mix dyes and then tomorrow I will start dyeing. The only thing I have done recently is some ribbons a few weeks ago

this is one of the colorways I did, and is in fact a favorite that I keep getting requests for. Tomorrow my skills will be put to a serious test though as this lady was perusing my old archives and wants me to try and redo several colorways from back when I first started dyeing. I am embarassed to admit that back then I kept no notes and so have no idea how I came up with those. Will be putting my guessing skills to serious work

SO I set up that fitwatch thingy yesterday. It has a place to input percent of fat, calories, protein and then it shows a bar graph on your input page. Each time you add a food for the day it updates and shows you where you are for your goals. I set mine at 8% carbs, 30% protein and 62% fat...I dont really know what I am doing but figure I can hink with it as I go. I managed to hit 7%, 25% and 68% so I wasnt too far off with any of them. I would have done better but only had some weird sausage to eat for lunch and actually had to guess at its nutritional value as i had already carved the label to shreds. I called it polish sausage and know thats wrong but I think its close.

BTW I like this one better then the ******. it has a lot more items easier to find and an easy way to input your own and save them. It just seems more polished.

So I am off to doc in a bit. Cross your fingers and hope she isnt making house calls, she does that sometimes on fridays.

Man I wish we all lived close, Angela could make me a gown, you could wrap my wedding flowers, it would be so cool! I love purple so anything in that color is cool to me. I was debating a lavendar colored gown since the sky should be a pretty shade of pruple that time of year, I am undecided think I need to go try some things one in a few months when my arms feel better. I went to Old Navy just grabbed a bunch of stuff to try on at home and return it is still such a chore getting dressed and undressed!!!

I love purple! I wish I had thought of that color when I got married last year but I did find a chic little white dress.

I just got back from Docs. 3 1/2 hours I kid you not, the office is a 5 min walk away.
I can't complain about her rushing me through, that's why it was so long, she gives each pateint the amount of time they need. SHe goes over everything and is quite thorough. I love my doc! I try and speak french to her and she tries to speak english to me LOL!
She ordered ALL of the tests I asked for iron, vit D, T4, T3 and TSH plus a new INR but I have a running script for that. Showed her my vitamins and aminoacids and she ok'd them both. Had no problem with my quitting my iron though she wants to test to make sure its ok. Told me to go in the morning to have my test done and we will go from there. She even gave me a prescriptoin to a thyroid specialist and nutritionalist if I feel the need to go. She did say she had never herad of Armour and it is not in her PDR but thats not surprising, they dont use the same medications over here usually. They dont even use coumadin and my pain pills aren't even common in the US. She thinks if trying to regulate my thyroid with her doesnt work I can go to the specialist and make sure it gets figured out. I am really glad I didnt meet with any opposition with her. Only time she told me NO was when my ortho doc wanted to shoot cortisone into my back. She was SO against it and I was so glad cause I didnt want to do it either
Thanks so much all of you for the support, it means the world to me

Well I got up early this morning like a good girl and toddled down to the lab...and yes I toddled...I was sleep walking
HE took 5 big tubes
I was kicking myself for not eating before I went, but I made it. I came home and scrambled up a big batch of eggs with fresh chives, cracked black pepper and cream and three nice sausage links on the side.
I think I will survive now
I will be playing at the dye table today...and cleaning my kitchen if Angela doesn't make it over here. I'll wait as long as I can though to give her time...

Good morning, Diane! I am so glad that you made it to see your doctor and got all your blood drawn for the labs. Hopefully the culprit will be discovered and the solution in place soon so you can get to feeling like yourself again!

What are you up to today? The purple and teal ribbon above is just lovely. I love silk ribbon! I am always astonished at its strength and durability. You wouldn't think dainty silk could lace a Ren dress closed, year after year, but it sure does!
