KrystaLyn's 2011 Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss Journal!

OK, so I am on Day 1 of induction. Menu for the day so far:

B - 2 eggs w/ cheese

S - cheese stick

L - Roast Beef with sauteed onions, garlic, and a little steak sauce
1 slice Provolone cheese
SF Hawaiian punch mix in 20 oz of water

Dont know what dinner will be yet. Im thinking some salsa chicken and veggies, maybe.

I just keep picturing myself in my mind being thinner, healthier and happier. I know what it feels like because I have been there. That is my motivation for now, until I actually start seeing progress. I am going to take a picture today, too.

Our Recipes

Start Date: Post-pregnancy start: 03/02/2011 So I did end up having salsa chicken last night for dinner, but wasn't in love with the recipe. All it was was salsa and sour cream mixed and poured over chicken and baked, and it was too runny for me. I liked the flavor though, so I'm thinking next time, I will try mixing cream cheese into the sour cream and salsa to give it a little more thickness. I ate that with green beans, and then I had a couple of slices of provolone cheese as a snack after dinner, since I was still hungry. I debated what I should make. I was thinking whipped cream with cocoa, or Pero with cream, but when I was making my husbands lunch for the next day, there were a few slices of cheese left, so I ate those, and surprisingly, that took the edge off my hunger, so I left it at that.

So, yesterday's menu looked like this:

B - 2 eggs with cheese - 3

S - cheese stick - 1

L - about 3/4 c. of roast beef sauteed with onions, garlic and a touch of steak sauce - 1-2
provolone cheese - 1
SF Hawaiian Punch in 20 oz water - 1?

D - Salsa chicken w/cheddar cheese (25 for the entire recipe, and I had probably 1/6th) -5?
Green Beans - (I had a little more than a serving, and a serving was 2, so maybe 3-4)

S - 3 slices of provolone cheese - 3

Plus I had at least 40 more oz of water throughout the day, in addition to the 20 oz with lunch.

Total = 20 carbs at the most, and at least 60 oz of water.

I notice now that i had A LOT of cheese yesterday. I think I will try to watch that. But I did lose 1.8 from yesterday, so not a bad start.

I baked a lb. of bacon this morning to keep in a ziploc bag in the fridge for the week. I'm just hoping my husband doesnt find it and eat it all before I can get to it! I had some of the broken pieces as I was putting it on the plate, and then one whole piece, so I've probably had 2-3 pieces this morning, along with 2 of the hard boiled eggs I boiled yesterday. No cheese yet! I will probably have leftover salsa chicken and beans for lunch, and then I will probably make green bean casserole for dinner. My husband likes that.

I am working on a dinner list, and also a snack/lunch list for me so that I can finally go grocery shopping and stock up to make things easier. Hopefully I can go shopping on Saturday. Until then, I DO have enough to get by until then, but I will be happy to get some of the things that make things easier, like carb countdown!

Also I did take a picture yesterday. UGH. I won't be posting that anywhere until I have lose enough to show a significant difference. But I am still feeling mentally strong, still thinking about how good I will feel, etc. I know it is making a difference this time around.

So, I thought it was wierd adding posts to a journal that I hadn't written in for a year, and that I ended up being pregnant in, so I decided to start a new one for 2011!

Above are the two posts I DID make in my last journal since starting yesterday. Everything else new will be posted here.

I chuckled Krysta when you said you hope your husband doesn't find the bacon that you precooked or he would eat it all.

I precook mine, then wrap it in paper towels, put it in a ziploc and tell mine that it is lettuce. Because it is all wrapped up and in the crisper in the fridge he thinks it is lettuce......

Boy what we have to do to keep on track

JAIMIE!!! (((((HUGS))))) How wonderful to "see" a friendly face this morning! I was feeling quite lonely the past two days I was thinking about how much I miss our old gang. But I wasnt going to let that derail me from staying on plan...I am DETERMINED!

Shipoo, thanks for visiting! Yes, last time I cooked a pound of bacon, my husband found it and literally ate the WHOLE THING! I like your idea of wrapping it in paper towels....he NEVER actually takes the time to look into containers!

Well, I will be back later today to give a detailed report, I just wanted to post my weight loss really quick before I head out to Wally World with all three kids! Yes, I am feeling ambitious today

I lost 2.2 lbs from yesterday. I am down 4 pounds already! I will post menus later. I want to go get in and out of Walmart before it gets busy. TTFN!

Ok, so yesterday, I really hardly ate anything, because I got really sick in the evening while I was making my boys dinner. I had taken a metformin, which I have been off of for a couple of weeks, and I think that, in combination with starting the diet, and being sick with a cold on top of it was just too much. So I didn't end up eating dinner, and just laid down on the couch with the boys and watched Tinkerbell (Yes, my boys LOVE Tinkerbell!)

I WAS hungry, but the only thing I could manage to eat was 1/4 c. heavy cream, whipped with 1/2 pkt. of diet cocoa mix. I call it Cocoa Cream. So that did tide me for the rest of the night, but it wasnt really a meal. Here is my menu from yesterday:

B - 2 hard boiled eggs w/ butter - 1.2
2-3 strips bacon - 0
20 oz water w/ SF Hawaiian Punch Pkt. (Obviously I am obsessed with these!)

L - 2 Salsa Chicken tenders - 3-4, I'm guessing cause it wasn't much, and didnt have much sauce, either.

D - Cocoa Cream - 6

Total - 11, water total, not quite so good as the day before, I think less than 40 oz.

But, like I said, I was happy to be down 2.2 lbs this morning! I know this is all the inital water weight, etc, but still, it always gives me great motivation to keep going! I have lost a total of 4lbs since starting on Wednesday. I need to lose 7 more to be what I was when I got pregnant with Finn, then another 12 pounds after that to be where I was when I got pregnant with the twins. That is my first real goal, to be where I was when I got pregnant with the twins, then we will work from there!

so today, so far I have had:

B- Atkins shake -1
2 slices of bacon -0
1 slice of cheese -1

S- 6 oz. SF yogurt cup (technically shouldnt have had this in Induction, but it was the only one left, and I didnt want it to go to waste, since no one else in the house eats SF. I've done this enough to know that I do fine with Yogurt.)

L-Green Bean casserole - 5
15 oz SF Hawaiian Punch

Dinner is probably going to be leftover salsa chicken or more green bean casserole. I need to clean out the fridge!

ARG! Typed up a big post and lost it! And I don't have time to retype it right now. But we are going to a Birthday party that is apparently going to have a lot of food, so I am psyching myself up to eat clean. I will report tonight or tomorrow.

So I did fine at the party last night. They had a meat and cheese platter, and veggies and dip, and a chicken dip that was just chicken, salsa, green chilies, cream cheese and cheddar cheese, and I only had a small spoonful of that.

B-2 bacon - 0
strawberry protein shake - 1
slice of cheese - 1

L-mock danish - 4

D-cucumber slices (about 4-5) -<1
about 4-5 grape tomatoes -2
ranch dip (small spoonful) - 1
turkey and roast beef slices - 0
about 4 thin cheese slices - 4
Chicken dip (small spoonful) - maybe 3-4

Total = 17, water = BAD. Only one waterbottle at the party, and maybe one large glass at home...maybe 20 oz.

Weighed and I am UP .6 lbs. I would be mad, but I will be starting TOM in the next day or two, and I know that is the cause.

Down 3 lbs. today, for a total of 6.4 lbs since I started on Wednesday! But I was nauseous yesterday, and didnt eat a ton. But I think the water I have been holding is gone...I woke up at 2am and peed for what seemed like 5 minutes! I should be starting TOM any day now. I'm hoping that makes this a good week for weight loss.

Yesterdays menu:

B - 2 hard boiled eggs w/butter - 1.2
1/2 c. sliced strawberries - 3.5
1 oz. cream - 1
1/2 pkt Splenda - .5

L - Protein shake - 6
cheese stick - 1

D - country-style pork rib (slow cooked in a tomato sauce, but eaten without any extra sauce) 1?

Total = 15, Water = not super great, but probably at least 32 oz.

Ok, now that my kids are all napping, I can do my recount of yesterday:

missed breakfast -

L- 4 turkey and cheese roll ups - 3

S - cheese stick - 1
cocoa cream cheese clouds - 1-2 (I made half a recipe using Davinci's, which, according to my calculations equaled 5 carbs total. I didn't even eat half of it, so I am guessing maybe 2 carbs.)

D - Taco Bake - I didnt measure it out, because I new I had hardly eaten anything earlier and had PLENTY of carbs to spare. but the entire recipe was probably about 40 carbs, and I ate maybe 1/5 of it. then I added a little lettuce, fresh tomatoes and sour cream on top. My guess is probably about 10-12 carbs total.

Total = 18, water = I actually measured out 24 oz in the morning, cause I wanted to see how much my really big cups held. Then I had at least 12 more, so at the minimum, 36, but probably closer to 40oz.

Today I have started with a mock danish. I am probably now going to have leftover taco bake. Dinner, I have been thinking will possibly be Chicken Parmesan.

You are doing great Krysta....how much so far have you lost on induction? Do you use ketostix to see if you are in ketosis? These are a staple in my home just like meat!

Thanks, Shipoo!

Today is my official first off of Induction done, and I have lost 7.2 lbs! I weighed myself this morning not expecting much from the scale, but I lost another .4 lbs! I guess I can post my stats...I was holding off until I had finished Induction, but I suppose I can post them now!

I started at 173.0
After one week on Induction, I am 165.8 today.

I have less than 4 lbs to go to get to my first mini-goal, which was to get down to the weight I was when I got pregnant with my newest son, 162lbs.

My goal after that is 155, just because it is midway through the 150's,a nd for some reason, I have that in my mind as significant.

Then my next mini goal is 149, which is what I was when I got pregnant with my twins.

After that, I will re-evaluate and set some new mini-goals.

Oh, and yes, I DO use Ketostix!

Oh forgot to add, I use ketostix every day. Even if I do not lose, just seeing the colour lets me know that I am burning fat so I don't panic if the scales don't move.

Thanks, Shipoo! I am kindof amazed at how well this induction is going so far! I know this rate of loss won't last forever, but for now, I am taking it!

I lost another 1.4 lbs today! Holy Smokes! I need to enjoy these losses, because I go back on the active pills on Sunday, and I know that will slow me down a bit until I have my next week of inactive pills.

I will admit, I didn't eat much yesterday, but in all honesty, I just wasn't that hungry.

B - Atkins shake - 1
2 bacon - 0

S - 2 cream cheese clouds - 1

L - A small bowl of chicken salad (maybe 5?)

Nothing for dinner cause I wasn't hungry, but I did drink a cup of Pero w/ heavy cream and splenda for abt. 3 carbs, and 1 chocolate cloud, which was probably less than a carb.

Total = 10-11, water, not great, maybe 30-ish oz.

Also, my induction flu is getting better. I did get a headache, but not until later in the evening instead of late afternoon like I was getting them. And I wasn't nauseous yesterday, either. That is good for me. I know that things are REALLY starting to switch over.

Hi Krysta!

You are doing great so far. I am also trying to lose my baby weight although my "baby" is now 6. LOL!

My nephew, who is 5, likes Tinkerbell too. He always asks to watch it with my daughter when he comes over. We have all 3 of the movies and I don't mind watching them over and over myself.

I'm glad to see another fan of the mock danish. I can't live without them. That is my typical breakfast most days.

Anyhoo, just wanted to say hi and cheer you on!

Well, it's been 5 days since I posted last, and I have only lost .4 pounds. And while It is better than a kick in the pants, I am SO SICK of seeing 164-point-something on the scales! Today I was 164.0, but its taken me 5 days to get there from 164.4! arg!

I didnt cheat over the weekend, but I didnt keep my menus, either. I am in ketosis, so I figure i am good. I hardly ate anything yesterday, I just didnt feel like eating, and nothing sounded good.

B-hard cooked egg w. slice of cheese - 1.6

L-1/2 panna cotta - maybe 1

S-cheese stick - 1

D-ranch chicken cutlet w. a sprinkle of parmesan cheese - 1-2
mashed cauliflower w/ sour cream, butter and cheese - 5?

Total = 11, water = BAD. I know I drank some, but it feels like hardly any. Maybe 30 oz. if I was lucky.
