LJB - Back with a Vengeance - WW Way

Weight Watcher's Point Plus. My new way of eating has catapulted me into losing 7.6lbs. in 2 weeks according the weekly weigh-in at the meetings. The scale at home has me a few pounds lower. But really it isn't about numbers on a scale, it's how I feel! Wonderful! Energy to go to the gym. A better night sleep. No feelings of panic because I want to enjoy a light beer and some wings on Saturday evenings. The best part is how I'm retraining my brain to eat better and finding new and nourishing foods that will keep me within my daily points total and satisfy me throughout the day is really fun!

It's easier than I ever thought possible! I can have my bread, fruit and veggies. And I'm not knocking low-carb induction but ketosis pp and stinky breath isn't my idea of living. I tried. It was not for me.

Could I do low-carb with the points that I have?
Could I do South Beach? Protein Plus? Sure. Yet, for me, eating clean seems to make me feel more euphoric.

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: 2 slices of low-calorie oatmeal bread toasted
1 whole egg, 2 egg whites (mustard and hot sauce)

Snack: 1/2 grapefruit

Lunch: 6oz. of grilled chicken with salad, 2T of balsamic vinaigrette

Pre-workout snack: Banana

Dinner: Not sure. Possibly a veggie patty sandwich.

Talk to you all later!

Hi there! Just noticed you started and journal and wanted to pop in and say hi! I love what you wrote about the new plan. I am finding the same things to be true for me. We all have to try different things and find what works. This is working for me too - isn't that exciting!!!

Congratulations on your progress!!

Just like me to forget to post in my own thread! LOL!

Since I joined WW, I've lost a tad over 14lbs. I am making better choices in what I eat during the week and on the weekends. Now I want to recharge my workouts with splits. I can change this every 30 days, too.

Back, legs and triceps on Sundays
Chest, biceps, shoulders and core on Mondays
Cardio and Abs on Tuesday
Chest Routine on Wednesday
Legs on Thursday
Friday will be my rest day
Cardio and Abs on Saturday

I am going grocery shopping after the gym (I will eat dinner at my favorite salad bar before I do!)

Here is my list:

Old Wesson 5 Grain Oatmeal
Frozen Blueberries/Strawberries
Quart of Skim Milk
Joseph's Low-Carb Pitas
Cucumber
Grapefruit
Green Apples
Non-Fat Cottage Cheese
Laughing Cow Cheese
Small Jar of low-fat mayo
Cherry Tomatoes
Cheese Sticks
Chicken Breast
Broccoli
Low-sodium refried beans
Shredded Cabbage
Carrot Sticks
Eggs Whites
Green Tea
Smoked Turkey Meat from the Deli
Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar
Spicy Mustard
Regular Mrs. Dash

I'm not going to buy almonds or sweet potatoes at this time until I am down another 10lbs. I have noticed my joints are hurting less with more calcium in my system and feel better as a whole reducing the amount of red meat and canned tuna in my diet. Less lethargic.

I kicked total "acetate" at the gym last night, thanks to an old friend and trainer who occasionally goes to the same location as I do. She really could not believe the work I've done over the past few weeks! Meghan scribbled a few new power moves for me to do and I can feel it this morning. I showed her my WW PP Blue book and she commented how easy the plan really is. No restrictions and no dieting!

Today's Menu:

Breakfast: Joseph's LC Pita, 1 Laughing Cow Garlic & Herb cheese wedge, 2 slices of ham, spicy mustard (Green tea)

Snack: 1 cheese stick 1 green apple

Lunch: Same as Breakfast (With 1/2 grapefruit)

Snack: Same as 1st Snack

Dinner: WW style Huevos Rancheros: 2 Joseph's Pitas with a Tablespoon each of non-fat refried beans, 1 LC cheese wedge each, 2 egg-whites each with Cholula hot sauce, shredded cabbage and chopped up tomatoes. (Green Tea)

Okay...dinner plans changed since Chuck wanted buffet. Other than a small salad and a bit of meat I became full fast. I must be losing my appetite.

Sick today but otherwise not so bad considering. I had a nice bowl of chicken soup for lunch and that helped a bunch. My size 10 jeans are practically falling off today. Always a good sign! I want to get to 154lbs. as my first mini but major goal sometime this month.

So far today, I had a Joseph's low-carb pita, 1 LC wedge and an egg white for breakfast, a small green apple for a snack, and half a ham, turkey, Swiss cheese panini for lunch.

I am very happy I was able to go to the gym 6 days this week! Tonight, I plan on doing a split workout. Chest, triceps and legs.

I know I have a lot to learn about eating on the weekends.

Next weekend's goals are:

1) Eat before I go out even if there is food offered.
2) Bring snacks and water with me in my purse over the course of the day.

I also need to clean out any weekend junk from the refrigerator. My husband will be a recipient of cheese, crackers and carrot sticks for his snacks this week. Tonight, I will go grocery shopping after the gym and a salad. Can't be hungry while shopping!

Yup, I have my "go-to" list for the week ready!

Eating lots of veggies and fruit today. My body needs it!

Today at the gym:

20 minutes of cardio followed by abs, triceps, shoulders and some legs.

I've noticed the more strength training I do the hungrier I feel. I have something quick and easy in mind to make for dinner when I get home. I'll update later when I know for sure.

I decided to ramp up my weight training since I feel myself getting stronger with each day. I also have more stamina on the elliptical but a friend suggested to stay on it the same length of time but add more resistance. Little steps make all the difference and I am so close to my first goal!

In one month, we are going to Philly for a family celebration and I want to wow my brother and sister in law.

I realized how tired I am. The last couple of nights have been rough. I can't seem to get the restful sleep that I need. My husband and I are going out to dinner after work and then relax. I need to recharge! My batteries are low.

I don't think I am eating enough during the day. Plus I work out after 5pm. What does it equal? It means I am really hungry in the evenings. And my choices are sub par. Not good.

Tomorrow is my weigh in and I don't think I've lost a thing. I'll take the bad with the good and go from there.

My weigh in was very disappointing but according to my scale at home, I've lost 20lbs. I still have a ways to go to this journey but hopefully by the end of June I'll be closer than ever to my goal. (See Stats.)

Yesterday, I went on a proverbial binge. I ate up my allowable and daily points...well, at least I think I did. I'll say yes for simplicity sake. The best part of WW is how easy it is to jump on the wagon and stay on it for longer periods of time than when eating according to my trainer's plan or eating LC only. Ironically, I binged on higher fat foods. I know my body needs to increase the good fat intake in order to stay the course.

I threw away my low-fat mayo. Yuck! Points or no points, it tasted terrible. I'd rather sacrifice quantity and choose quality.

Today is the start of the a new week!

I've also signed up for the Walk-It Challenge. I could push myself and start jogging. I'm not sure as yet. LOL.

Breakfast: 1/2 Artisan Whole Wheat Lavash Bread (Laughing Cow Creamy Swiss Cheese Wedge, 1/2T of hummus, 1/2T of fat free refried beans, 1 egg white, 4 small slices of cooked ham)

Snack: 1/2 green apple, cheese stick

Lunch: Same as lunch (Minus egg white)

Snack: Banana and some almonds

Dinner: Ezekiel 4:9 tortilla with Laughing Cow Creamy Swiss Cheese Wedge, 1/2T of hummus, 1/2T of fat free refried beans, and chicken strips

My appetite is funny during the week. It has it's ups and downs. I am trying to make an effort to not go out to eat Monday through Friday. I have an idea how many points are in my meals but the amount of sodium and sugar isn't worth it to me. Especially when it comes to the scale on Saturdays. I did allow myself an entire treat day on Sunday but I jumped back onto the wagon on Monday.

I posted this on another WW thread but I want to re-post it here.

I was reading an article in the current WW magazine about how eating fruit can take over someones day. She wondered why she lacked energy. It made me think about my tracking and even with all that I eat (excluding the fruit) I don't eat much at all. I barely make it over 23 points on some days. I don't use my activity points either when I have more than earned them.

And I'm still refusing to NOT drink alcohol of any kind. Seems like friends are centering their activities around bars and drinking. I don't mind socializing but I'm turning down invites left and right when it comes to being in a barroom.

All I can say is.....I am EXHAUSTED!

Tough workout last evening. 20 minutes of HIIT cardio on the elliptical, abs, shoulders and back.

My MIL took us out to dinner and I had a steak fajita wrap without tomatoes. (I also find cutting out the Nightshade vegetables is helping my joints.) I'm guesstimating the wrap was about 13 to 14 points. With my high activity points plus my remaining dinner points, I believe I am fine. All I know is, I do not like going out to eat when I have no idea what the points are. We could have gone to Applebee's but there is so much sodium in their food and that includes the WW entrees.

B - Ezekiel 4:9 tortilla, 1 Laughing Cow Creamy Light Swiss Wedge, a bit of hummus, 4 thin slices of cooked ham, green tea

Snack: 1 WW cheese stick, 1/2 green apple

L - WW Mac and Cheese, 1/2 green apple, a few berries and grapes, green tea

Snack: Banana, a few berries and grapes, 3 almonds

Dinner: 1/2 Whole Wheat Lavash bread with 1 LC Wedge, a teaspoon each of hummus and beans, egg white, a few chicken strips, green tea

I managed to make it to the gym yesterday even with me being tired. The old me would have gone home and gone out to dinner at the buffet. I've come to far to back down now. I still have trouble sleeping at night and I really don't know why. I keep thinking it might be the beginning of perimenopause. (Which would be fine by me.) But I just want to sleep through the night. I was thinking of taking a Unisom this evening.

I have to stop posting my dinners. In most cases I wind up eating something else entirely. After the gym, I had romaine lettuce, a few ham and chicken cubes, a few bites of cheese and a couple ounces of tuna and mayo. Total weight was 8.2 ounces. I do feel less hunger these days and I can go further with eating less. It almost feels like I'm doing C.R.O.N. (Calorie Restriction with Optimal Nutrition).

My menu today (excluding dinner - I think I may have a salad with romaine lettuce and some feta with a bit of tuna/mayo, chicken and ham. Not sure.)

Breakfast: Ezekiel 4:9 tortilla, LC Creamy Swiss Wedge, a bit of hummus, 4 small cooked ham slices, green tea

Snack: 1/2 green apple, WW cheese stick (they seem more palatable when really cold)

Lunch: Same as lunch except with chicken strips instead. 1/2 green apple, some berries and grapes, green tea

Snack: Cold banana, rest of the berries and grapes, 3 almonds

Dinner: See note above.

Tonight's workout: 20 minutes of HIIT elliptical, abs
