Third time's a charm!

Or at least I hope so!

I was recommended back to journaling and instead of continuing on with my old journal and re-living my past failure at this, I decided starting anew would be best.

Here's my story....

I've been heavy all of my life. Ok, except for about a year in highschool when I weighed 150 (still heavy for 5'3", but the thinnest I've ever been). I was the fat kid in grade school, the fat kid in middle school, the kinda fat chick for a bit in high school, then back to the fat chick from senior year until now. With varying degrees of fatness, I would gain a bunch, then lose some, then gain it back. I am pretty sure at one point in time I was at 300lbs, if not over (pics to follow) but I never weighed myself. The funny part of it is, I look back at those pictures of the year I was pushing 300 and think 'wow, it honestly amazes me that I still consider that the best year of my life' And truly I do, I had the most fun that year I ever did in my life, so I am glad that I can at least say, my weight has never stopped me from living. Yes, it absolutely has hindered me from doing certain things out of embarrassment, self consciousness or sheer worry that I am just 'too big' to do such a thing (think parasailing, lol) but I still go out of my way to enjoy my life, at any size.
I've had numerous 'wake up calls' throughout the years, not fitting on a roller coaster one time, an overweight friend with a life threatening blood clot, and so on and so forth, but I was never quite 'ready' I guess.
I started this WOE for the first time in June of 2009 (280lbs) at the urging of my brother after losing only a pound or 2 on a low fat diet. My brother had recently discovered the low carb WOL through Protein Power and had lost about 80lbs. So I did it for I think 4 months at that time until I fell off the wagon, lost about 35lbs. The tried to start it again January 2010 (262lbs) and moved to Florida a month after, had some depression issues, and fell off again. Well I've had a few half assed tries between then and my final restart, but I really and truly think this time is 'it'. I started back again, full force, September 13, 2011 at 280lbs. Right back where I started. But it's okay, because I can honestly say, this feels way more like a way of life to me now than it ever did.
This morning I weighed in at 237lbs, and I felt good about it. 43lbs down so far, with plenty to go, but for once, it seems possible. Why you ask? Well, it seems possible because I feel like I can do it and whenever I feel like I can't, I look at this board. I talk to my friends who are also fighting the good fight with me, battling for our lives and our confidence and they remind me that I am not alone. That I can do this. We all can. There is a better life in store for us, no matter how good the one we are living is, it can be BETTER and more fulfilling and there is nothing more motivating to me than knowing that and watching my friends succeed.

So here I am, waking up every morning to the first day of the rest of my life and finally making an effort to do right by myself. And it feels good.

Finally, to pictures. This first photo is of me in 2005, the best year of my life (so far!), pushing about 300lbs.

This second photo is of me on January 2, 2011 out for the night with some friends, I weighed 247lbs. I had fun, I felt good and I think I looked pretty damn good too, but don't be fooled, there are definitely Spanx involved, haha

So, there it is. Onward and downward as they say Ok, no one says that, but I'm going to make it happen. lol

If you wanna stalk my weight progress, feel free to check out our Daily Weighers thread for LOTS of inspirational people. I don't plan on posting weights here, just thoughts and ramblings and progress pics.... Actually, I have to put together a progress pic thread on here too... Just from this time around, so ta ta for now

Thanks for reading!!!!!

So, I got what I like to call my 'big girl yoga' DVD in the mail today, a day early! I was so excited, I changed and got right to it, I did the 25 minute warm up, a 20 minute 'postures' session and the 10 minute cool down, which is literally just laying on the floor, but it was nice lol.
Anyway, I really liked it. I can definitely feel the results of some good stretching in my thighs already and I didn't feel ridiculous because I couldn't put my face on my foot or anything like that haha. She actually even instructs you to move your belly out of the way and stuff if you need to. I felt very comfortable doing it and think it is definitely something I will start doing daily. On the exercise end of it, I know it doesn't really cut it, but I think it will help me to get used to moving my body and stretching and maybe strengthening some lesser used muscles to motivate me (physically at least) to move more in general.

I've started to notice the past couple of days some changes in my body, like creases when I move a certain way that weren't there before and it'll freak me out because I'm like what is on me? but then it's me, haha. I guess that happens when the fat leaves and your stuff has more room to move around... Gotta get a handle on that before it gets too weird looking. It's definitely a strange feeling when your body does something you're not used to it doing, almost foreign. But it's a good thing, so I'm not going to sweat it!

Still feeling pretty good, I hope that lasts forever, it's nice As long as I continue to do well, I think it will. Just gotta keep keeping on....

ok, pork chop time

It's called "Heavyweight Yoga- Yoga for the Body You Have Today" and the instructor is Abby Lentz. It's a little campy, but if you can ignore that, then it's pretty good! I haven't done the second 'postures' segment yet, but I assume it'll be harder, I only almost fell down on the first one once

Lisa~ Thank you so much!!! It truly warms my heart that someone thinks of me as inspiring!!! In weight loss even!!!! I would have never guessed that I could be that person, but I am so glad I am!!!! Thank you again!!!!

I found a bathing suit online that I liked, so I went to the store and tried it on in a 2X, loved it. But not the print.

SO I went home and ordered it in a Red 1X. It fitting well should time perfectly with the weather down here getting back to beach weather

The only downfall is this picture put me on a total anti cellulite rampage!!!! Those thighs need help!!! So today I'm going to start a dry brushing routine, followed by possibly a cellulite cream on my legs daily, depending on what I find at the store that looks reasonably priced after googling some reviews...
I'll consider this my 'before' pic, haha. oooh, maybe I'll take progress pics of that every 2 weeks when I do my measurements too.... We'll see how this stuff works!

Next on my mental agenda, is finding a new hairdo. I promised myself highlights when I hit 225 and although I have plenty of time, I am so indecisive when it comes to my hair, I might just decide in time for it to happen. lol
I like this look since I'm currently growing out my bangs, they are just too much of a pain once it gets warm and not all that attractive pasted to my forehead all the time....

I just really want some blonde going on, my hair has been jet black for like 5 years now and although I love my hair dark, I'm pretty much over it, plus it's hard to maintain with all the Florida sun on it constantly....
I was thinking maybe something more like this (speaking only of the highlights) keeping my hair pretty dark but I'm afraid the chunky highlights may be kind of outdated at this point... more like a late 90's thing, lol. And with pin straight hair it doesn't get the same textured effect....

Decisions decisions.... I told you all this would take a while. Please voice opinions!

Last, but not least this morning is the dress I will wear to my friend's wedding in NY on May 13th. Not sure how much I'll weigh by then, I'd really like to hit 200, so that's what I'm shooting for. But regardless, I've been looking at dress styles and decided I really like this one (in black, I've been asked to match the wedding party so I can be in photos lol). I think with some spanx, big obnoxious earrings, a nice bracelet, a casual down hairstyle and some cute pumps (maybe red ones? ) it will look really hot.

Plus those sleeves look pretty useful at covering up one of my trouble spots, but I have a good neck, so the style of the top should draw away from them anyway

Thoughts?

So I started my anti-cellulite routine on Sunday, and it might just be wishful thinking, but I think it's working, lmao. OK, maybe not yet, but I feel good about it like it WILL work... If I keep it up of course, haha

Anyway, the routine is a good dry brush, followed by a shower where I use my nifty exfoliating mitt and then I use St. Ives Cellulite lotion on all my trouble spots, applied vigorously of course, lol

We'll see what happens I guess!!!!

Cellulite usually doesn't respond to topical creams, it is a bugger, I have my skin license, we had to do this wrap thing, OMG I was so embarrassed since we had to do it on each other, but dry brush, apply cellulite cream then plastic wrap I have the heavy duty stuff but you can use reynolds plastic wrap and lay down for 30 minutes, when you take it off the celluite is less noticeable until you drink, so for a big event it works.

Try Newport News they have great dresses with built in slimmers, I love that black dress and the arms on that is killer, I hate my bat wings so bad!!!!!!!!!!1

As for hair, I would say go a medium blonde with thin light highlights, get used to the blonde then if you want lighter go lighter, sometimes going from black to too light is not desirable and ends up looking grey better to go slow. I think the thick ones are getting outdated. That first pic is Jessica Simpson and I think our beloved Casey looks so much like her in person! Although man she has some bad zits going on in that photo, but she is gorgeous!

Wow I love a fashion and beauty post!
