Charlie, I think the loading is partially that and to also fill up your fat banks sufficiently to pull from those while you are eating such low calories.

Well...weigh-in today.... 159.2
I lost 4.6 lbs. since yesterday morning...Amazing, I love these hcg drops, I felt little to no hunger all day yesterday, ate 664 calories, and was not the least bit deprived. I really feel like I can stick with this!!!

Today's menu:

B- 1 cup coffee with 2 tbsp. half and half (7 a.m.) 42 calories
8 drops at 8 a.m.

I have to admit, yesterday was very hard to stick to, I ended up tweaking my menu and my total calories were only 517. NOT ENOUGH FOR ME! I was tired, weak feeling, and VERY grouchy!!! It was also a Saturday, so of course it involved a lot of errands, running around, and taking my almost 7 year old to the movies. I did not take my drops at the correct times being out of the house, and then of course my DH wanted to stay up late and watch a movie on the couch (this usually involves some wine), I just told him I wanted to lay in bed, too tired, Poor DH. I am upping my calories to 700 today, I just can't do the strict protocol of 500, it made me crazy!

So...I will think about my menu and post it in the next post!

2/28/11 Today's weight: 156.8 (same as yesterday)

So...we avoided a social situation on Saturday night, we were invited to a friends house for a pizza party and some drinks, I just declined, thought it would be too tempting. Flash forward to last night, we had my best friend and her boyfriend over for dinner. I planned a turkey burger, so I just bbq'd for everyone. I planned salad and burgers, but got out Tostito's and salsa, BAD IDEA!!! I ate a serving and a half (about 15 chips), so of course, my calories were 1068 yesterday. I stayed the same weight, so today is an 800 calorie day, and tomorrow, but Wednesday I start my Zumba class so it will be a 1200 calorie day, and then I will start calorie cycling this week, Exciting news!!!

Today's menu:

B- 3 eggs cooked in Pam spray, 1 coffee with half and half and 2 stevia packets (277 calories)

L- 4 oz. turkey burger, 1 slice American cheese, 1 squirt of RS Heinz ketchup, 4 cups fresh spinach sauteed in olive oil Pam, (274 calories)

D- Jennie-o turkey burger, baked tomato (roast in oven with Pam and garlic sea salt) (193 calories)

Totals for today: 744 calories, 14 carbs

Today's exercise: First time on HCG diet, I am pumped, DH loaded my Ipod yesterday with some great new songs!!!
30 minutes treadmill,

Week 1 on HHCG = -4.6 lbs.

I have found something that works!!
I am calorie cycling, averaging 1,224 calories per day (weekly average divided by 7), this is a great plan for me. I can still exercise, not feel starved, this is the reason I cannot follow Simeon's protocol, I had one 500 calorie day, I thought I would die! Or kill someone, lol. I was a rotten grouch, I just didn't feel good.
SO, here is my plan:

Monday- 1,000 calories (30 minutes weight train)
Tuesday- 1,000 calories (30 minutes treadmill)
Wednesday- 1,500 calories (1 hour Zumba class)
Thursday- 1,200 calories (45 minute Zumba class)
Friday- 1,000 calories (30 minutes weight train)
Saturday- 2,000 calories (30 minutes treadmill)
Sunday- 1,500 calories (30 minute treadmill or rest day, optional)

I will continue my hhcg drops until I get to goal weight with this calorie cycling plan, then maintain with calorie cycling and no drops.

I haven't journaled in a few days, been crazy busy, still hanging in there, taking drops 3X a day, I have increased my calories, I meant to do the cycling this week, but my mom was here visiting this week and lets just say it's VERY hard to stick to any healthy eating regimen with her around. SO, the week on average was between 1200-1500 calories per day, probably closer to 1500. I also had a very high day yesterday (Saturday) closer to 2,000 calories I would guess, I had quite a few drinks last night out with friends.

Today's menu:
B- 2 eggs, 4 slices bacon, large coffee with cream and splenda

L- 1/2 cup cooked Dreamfields pasta, 4 turkey meatballs, 1/4 cup marinara sauce

D- Rotisserie seasoned chicken breasts, spinach

Today's totals: 1,276 calories, 20 carbs
No exercise today, majorly hungover

Holding steady, I was up a bit in my weight this week, I had a 2 lb. gain one morning, but I am back to my lowest weight yet on hcg. I

Today's weight: 156.6

Dropped down again, I am really confident in this calorie cycling thing, it HAS to work, my daily average is 1464 per day, plus daily exercise calorie burn of 330-350 calories, I have to drop some weight! However, I think I am going to begin with weekly weigh-ins again, it seems after my heavy day (2000 calories on Saturdays) I gain, then just lose the same weight all week. So, I will experiment this week, going with todays weight of 156.6 and hopefully next Wednesday I will be down atleast 1-2 lbs. if not, then I may tweak my plan (...AGAIN!! Grr!!!)

Today's menu: Today is a high-ish day, 1800 calories

B- 1 coffee, 2 tbsp. half and half, 2 stevia packets, 2 eggs, 4 slices bacon, 2 eggs cooked in Pam, (361 calories)

L and D: Chinese food, lots of it!!! ate half for lunch, will have remaining for dinner (approximately 1300 calories)

Today's totals: ********* says 1,602 calories, 171 carbs (YIKES!!!)

Today's exercise: 500 calories burned on treadmill

B- 2 eggs, 1 serving egg white, 1 coffee with 2 tbsp. half and half and 2 stevia packets (225 calories)

L- romaine salad with 1 slice deli ham, 2 slices deli turkey, 1 RF cheddar cheese stick, 1 tbsp. real bacon bits, 3 tbsp. yogurt blue cheese dressing (258 calories)

S- Coconut bark (1.5 tbsp. virgin coconut oil, .5 tbsp. natural peanut butter, 1/4 tbsp. hershey's dark cocoa) (248 calories of pure heaven!!!!)
DD small iced coffee with 2 splendas and skim milk ( 25 calories)

D- 1 cup spinach cooked in 1 tbsp. coconut oil, 2 chicken burgers (554 calories)

Today's totals: 1,315 calories, 31 carbs
( I just wasn't as hungry today, I ate a lot of chinese food yesterday, still full. I also feel that just maybe since incorporating coconut oil into my diet, it may just suppress my appetite a bit, WOOHOO!!!!)

I have Zumba tonight, very excited for this session to start up!

Today's exercise: Zumba, 45 minute class

I have been wanting to try the coconut oil thing... I have some.. but i don't think it is the right stuff. It is kind of hard in the jar... oily, but not liquidy like water... more solid than liquid lol.

It frightens me.

Oh Charlie, I hear you, I have had my coconut oil sitting around my house since I started low carbing in September 2010. I tried it in my coffee initially...blech!!! Oily coffee, it was awful! When I started the hcg I heard about the coconut bark, apparently coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid and goes straight to your liver to immediately be processed as energy, so people don't count the calories in the oil (which is good, because a coconut bark snack is over 300 calories!!!)

Try it, this is the recipe I use:

2 TBSP. Virgin coconut oil (Nutiva brand, this is the one that tastes like coconut)
1 tsp. Hershey's dark cocoa powder
1 TBSP. Skippy natural peanut butter

I warm it up in a glass measuring cup in the microwave for 40 seconds, stir, put in a bowl lined with wax/parchment paper, put in freezer for about 10 minutes, take out, and enjoy!! It's so tasty, I add peanut butter to mine, I am not as crazy about it without, and with the peanut butter I don't have to add all of the artificial sweetners. Let me know if you end up trying it.

Today's weight: 156.2 (-0.4 for the week)

So my weight is stalled this week, I am maintaining at 156.2, basically the same as last week, TOM is right around the corner and I have not been exactly on plan either. We went away for the weekend with the kids to an indoor water park, not the best food choices. I am still taking the hcg, have an average calorie intake of 1500 calories per day, and exercise moderately (burn 350 calories) atleast 5 days a week. I'll keep plugging along, I haven't been weight training for a few weeks, will add that back in today and keep at that 3 X per week again, I feel that helps to reshape my body, lose inches.

Today's menu:

B- 2 eggs, .5 tbsp. butter, 1 cup spinach, 2 coffees, 4 tbsp. half and half, vanilla creme stevia

L- Eggplant, topped with pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, baby bella mushrooms, turkey pepperoni

D- turkey meatloaf, salad with blue cheese

S- Coconut bark

Today's exercise: 350 calories treadmill, 30 minutes weight training

Well, it's been a while since I've been here to visit, things are crazy at home, my DH has been laid off of work for 3 weeks, THANK GOD he goes back on Monday, or else we would be headed for divorce court! I love him dearly, but I don't think it's healthy for us to spend that much time together, were talking 24/7, both of us home, no one working, it's just not normal!!!

Well, I weighed in on Wednesday, right in the middle of TOM, and was 158.2, 2 pounds over my weigh-in last week, I am going to stop weighing during TOM, very depressing.
I also had a tough night emotionally last night. I spent literally an hour and a half pouring through my walk-in closet to find something to wear out with friends for drinks. I wanted to cry, I am not sure if it was bloat from TOM, but I just felt so FAT and GROSS!!! I finally came downstairs to my DH waiting to go out, and told him that I am not going out, and how I felt about myself, he just rolled his eyes and said, "whatever." (his motto for life, geesh), so I texted our friends, lied, and said our little one was sick (which she actually is, but the real reason was my weight issues).
I just want to stop having to exclude myself from social things because of my weight problems, I want to walk in my closet, pick a cute outfit, put it on, look great, and be on my way, it's so crappy to live this way!
I have been working really hard lately, 6 days a week I have a 400 calorie burn on the treadmill, I am weight training 3X per week, added coconut oil daily (3 tbsp.) which obviously makes my calories high, average 1,500 actual food calories daily, without the oil added in. I stopped taking the hcg this week, I was not following any real diet, and it made me a cranky witch. The hormones did not agree with me, and I was very short and snappy with everyone, not a good thing for a SAHM of three kiddos, two of them under 3 years old, my poor babies!!

So, today's menu:

B- 2 eggs, 3 slices applewood bacon, 1 cup spinach cooked in bacon grease, 1 large iced french vanilla DD coffee with cream and splenda

L- Chicken salad (breast, mayo)

S- Coconut bark (3 tbsp. coconut oil, 1 tbsp. natural peanut butter, .5 tbsp. hersheys dark cocoa)

D- Carne Asada chicken, salad, guacamole, probably a couple of Beck's light beers, (it's Saturday!!!!)

Today's exercise: 400 calories on treadmill, 30 minutes weights (dumbells, kettlebell, stability ball)

So, that sucks! I am taking a mini-breather from "dieting" this week. I am really just feeling negative about the whole thing. I have tried a lot of different plans over the past year, I feel I have gone to extremes and just really want to have a healthier relationship with food, a few people in my life have approached me and expressed that I am not healthy about weight loss. I stayed the same weight this week, even after TOM. I am going to take this week off, no tracking foods, no measuring, not being so fanatical about exercise, just be mindful. Don't eat too much, move everyday, that sort of thing.

Today's weigh-in: 158.2

Time to get serious, it's VERY close to bathing suit season, I really had hoped to be atleast 150 by now.

Cutting out dairy and artificial sweeteners this week, if I lose, I will stick with it, another week, another tweak...grrrrrr!!!!

Going primal!!

4/14/11

Happy Birthday to my darling Husband!!! He is 33 years old today, we have been together almost 10 years this November, I love him so much, he is my best friend and makes my life complete!
Ok, done with the sappiness for today.

Today's weigh-in:

158.6, we went out last night for dinner for DH's birthday, enough said.

I really feel I am ready to give up alcohol for a while. I feel so good without it, and noticeably crappy when I have some. My sleep is disturbed, it upsets my tummy, gives me a headache. Not good. Plus, it obviously does NOTHING to help me lose weight. I imagine that all of the weeks that I followed my plan food -wise only to imbibe on Saturday nights, had I gone without the alcohol, I probably would have lost weight not maintained for the past 8 months!!!

I also am going to take a break from restaurant eating, the oils used to cook with are all vegetable oils, and other questionable ingredients. I honestly can cook quite well, and actually enjoy it. If I am craving something yummy like broiled scallops, I will just go to the fish market and make them at home, for a special treat instead of paying $25 for a meal at a restaurant that comes with a side of starch that I won't even eat!!

Cutting out dairy completely this week, we'll see how it goes.

So, there you go, baby steps, I am getting there on the healthy lifestyle front. No more alcohol for a while, no dairy, and no restaurant eating for a while.

Today's menu:
B- Coffee with coconut milk and liquid vanilla creme stevia, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 1 cup spinach

L- turkey burger, coconut mayo, avacado, small salad with EVOO and squirt of lemon,

D- Baked, boneless pork chops, almond flour breading, drizzled with EVOO, roasted zucchini

S- 1 tbsp. coconut oil

Not counting calories or carbs this week, but also not eating any junk, hope this works out for me,

Today's exercise: Zumba class, maybe a 30 minute bike ride also, I missed exercise yesterday, been doing every day for 30 minutes.
