How did the almond flour "breading" turn out?? I have chicken defrosting at home for dinner and I haven't figured out what to do with it yet.

Charlie,
Thanks so much for the heads up on the almond flour, it was VERY good, I just brushed the chicken with olive oil, then sprinkled with almond flour and baked it,then topped with sauce and mozzarella and parmesan. It tasted to me just like how I remember Chicken Parmesan. I had it for leftover today for lunch even ( I decided to forgo the leftover Dreamfield's, I don't want to get into the habit of eating it. I figure ,once a month for a treat is good for me, Hope you're having a great day!
Jess

Well...my hunger returned this a.m.

No worries, and I did not weigh this a.m. It was crazy, my oldest is feeling better, back at school today after a week without school due to being sick. But...of course my 2 youngest girls are now feverish, here we go again. They (and me) were up several times in the night, I will weigh in tomorrow morning when I wake up.

Today's menu:
B- 1 coffee, 2 eggs, 1 slice oven baked ham (1.75 oz), 2 slices bacon (See, I was hungry this a.m.)

L- 5 whole chicken wings, baked in oven at 425', brushed with Frank's wing sauce (no butter,no blue cheese dressing)

D- side salad with homemade blue cheese, sausage and peppers and onion, (just one link, some O & P over it)

120 oz. water today

Today's totals: 1,406 calories, 20 carbs

Today's exercise: 30 minutes treadmill (330 cals), Zumba class tonight (45 minutes)

I can't believe it's almost February! So, this means, I have been at this for one month almost, hope my hard work will pay off soon.

Good Morning!!! Just a few end of my first month note-ables to mention:
Well, a wonderful thing is happening to me, my appetite is decreasing! I just love it, and love that I have begun to stop eating, push my plate away and just be done. This is something I would have NEVER done in the past, I was an official member of the "clean plate club". Last night, I ate half of my dinner, and was done. I have been doing really well keeping my calories under 1500, yesterday was originally going to be 1524 I think, and I ended up with 1,421, and I have been completely satisfied, and not hungry.
I have been sticking very well with exercise as well, it has become a daily habit. I have a really good feeling that I have found what will work best for me for weight loss, this calorie range, carb range, and the exercise. Hopefully when I reach my goal weight, I may be able to go up a bit with both calories and carbs, but for now this works for me.
I am currently reading Atkins' '72 and there is so much mention of "eating when hungry", "don't worry about calories", it makes me a little envious that this approach never worked for me, I have tried. I had been eating low carb (under 10 most days), and averaging 1800-2000 calories, I did not lose this way, I know some can. So, I'll do what works for me.

Okay, Confession time

I ate Chinese food last night!!! I snacked on chocolate/cinnamon almonds yesterday afternoon, it was just too many carbs, triggered cravings. The next thing I knew I had my folder of take-out menus out and had my heart set on getting Chinese food ordered in. GRRRRR!!! I did really well all month, why must I always sabotage my efforts when I just begin to see progress?

Enough beating myself up though, its done. I ended the day yesterday with 1,900 calories and 100 carbs ( YIKES!!!).

SO, back on track today, I am also throwing the menus out, right now, no more eating that junk!!! It really wasn't even that good, and it gave me gas, stomach pains, and a major bloated, big tummy this morning. Lesson learned!

Today's exercise: Ugh, does housecleaning count? I cleaned my whole house today, vacuumed, dusted, steam mopped the floors, cleaned kitchen, cleaned 3 bathrooms, I am pooped! That may be it for today.

We are going away tomorrow with the kids and friends of ours and their kids for a 3 night getaway to the mountains to stay in a 3 bedroom log cabin. We are very excited. There is a fitness center there, it's part of a resort, so I will exercise on Friday and Saturday. I will exercise tomorrow morning (Thursday) before we leave, and i have been preparing some foods to take along for me to stay legal (cheese crisps, pre-cooked chicken breasts, string cheese, some hard boiled eggs, salad stuff), I think I'll do okay. I won't be posting until Monday, so Ciao!

Charlie,
I need to go back into your journal and look at your menus. I just ordered HCG drops, I am going to try it out as soon as my drops come in the mail. I know your diet is similar (VERY low calorie 500), I need to get myself psyched up and prepared. Do you ever struggle with hunger? Do you just get used to it after a while? I am very excited, I have doing a lot of research on the VLCD, people are losing a ton of weight with the hcg, like a pound a day. I am very intrigued!!

Hope you're doing well, thanks for popping in!

In the beginning, hunger was an issue, but over time I think I have just adjusted to it. I get full and satisfied pretty quickly. I don't know much about the HCG, i have just seen it all over these boards and haven't had a chance to look it up. I have had appetite suppressants prescribed by my weight loss clinic, but at this point I don't think I really need them. I forget to take them ALL THE TIME... I have been out of ketosis lately (my own dang fault) so I have noticed a bit more hunger, but it is nothing revenous.. more like, "oh, that was my stomach... weird". 500 calorie sounds scary to alot of people and when I tell them i only eat that much they think I am starving myself when in reality it is fine because it is mostly protein I am eating. So my muscle mass is not wasting away, just the fat. :-) The biggest part about eating low calorie is know not just what, but how much you are eating. In the beginning I weighed everything. I am a little better at estimating portion sizes now, but I still weigh my meat just so I can be sure.

Best of luck!!

Thanks SO much Charlie, I'll be stalking your journal later when I put the kids to bed to scan over your menus...lol. I am pretty prepared to begin, and excited, just waiting on my shipment of drops to come. I ordered them 6 days ago, a little impatient. I hate to eat fake food, but I stocked up on some Walden Farms no calorie things to get me through.

Load day? clearly I need to research the HCG diet.... but from this it almost looks like a last hurrah, lol. Which is what did the weekend before I started with Medi (I spent the weekend out of town at a football game... tailgate food and beer, lol)

Good luck!

Oh Charlie, if you only knew!! Actually it is 2 load days, I feel like a stuffed pig! I can't believe I used to eat like this regularly, it's terrible! It is actually encouraged and part of the plan to load up, eat to capacity for 2 days before beginning the very low calorie days of the diet, Crazy!

2/24/11
Load day 2:

B- 2 french toast, 1 egg, 2 small sausage patties, butter, real maple syrup

L- 6 wingettes, fresh mozzarella and proscuitto drizzled with olive oil (cleaning out the fridge day...lol)

D- chicken cordon bleu (with real panko breading), 1 small piece of garlic bread.

S- Coke Zero, 2 Reeses peanut butter cups, 3/4 of a Hershey bar ( I actually sent my dad to the store for these, this type of eating is not healthy for this recovering carb addict)

So, I don't even want to take a guess at how many calories/carbs I have consumed in these past 2 days. Hopefully I have sufficiently filled up my fat banks to begin my very low calorie diet tomorrow morning. I am actually very excited. I feel like garbage, it is now fun feeling this "stuffed", being low carb for the past 6 months, I haven't felt this feeling in a while, it is very uncomfortable to be full like this. Hope its worth it. I am very scared to weigh in tomorrow morning after 2 day of this "eating to capacity" I feel gross, I am probably up several pounds. Hopefully it's gone in a few days. I am ready to go, I have portioned out several 4 oz. pieces of haddock and chicken breasts, stocked up on allowed veggies, and cleaned out or froze the high fat/ low carb goodies I had around. I'll post tomorrow with my post-load weight and my menu for the day.

Today's weigh-in: 163.8 (gained 3 pounds loading, I REALLY hope this works, seems counterproductive to me!!!)

Well, today is VLCD 1, I have plugged my food into *********. While the protocol for the hcg diet calls for a 500 calorie day, I am going to tweak it a bit as I would like to continue exercising and I just simply cannot skip breakfast, so I will add in breakfast calories. Today's totals come to 664 calories and 21 carbs.

Today's menu:

B- 1 cup coffee with 2 tbsp. half and half (7 a.m.) 42 calories
8 drops at 8 a.m.

2 eggs, Pam olive oil spray, 1 cup cooked spinach (9 a.m.)228 calories
8 drops at 11:30 a.m.

L- 4 oz. chicken breast, 4 cups romaine lettuce, 2 tbsp. Walden Farms blue cheese dressing 214 calories

Snack- 2 cups chicken broth 24 calories

8 drops at 4 p.m.
D-4 oz. haddock, squirt of lemon juice, dill spice, 1 medium baked tomato 140 calories

I wonder if the loading is just meant to make you feel gross and not want to eat... making eating less calories not such a big deal. :-)

I don'tknow what the HCG diet calls for in terms of what the calories consist of, but having protein at almost every meal and then smaller protein type snacks really helps me... (ie, I really need to buy stock in sargento light cheese sticks there is ALWAYS one in my purse just in case)

Good luck! the days go by easy, its the evenings that kill me when i want to snack.
