Bacon & sausage this morning, decaf black tea w/ stevia & hwc at work, it's 11:50 and I'm not feeling hungry yet. Actually I think the bacon & sausage has a lot to do with it; yesterday I just had an egg w/ cheese omelette. Big calorie differences I guess.

And definitely a difference in fat! I find that when I eat fat in the morning, I'm satisfied for much longer.

Yeah, the sausage & peppers for lunch was good but I'm starting to feel the hunger and it's almost 4. I have felt my stress level somewhat elevated today but that's mostly b/c of what I'm doing.

Ohh my, and my other treat... a latte made at a coffeehouse in the mall nearby with decaf, sugar-free hazelnut syrup, and all done with half & half (no coffee shops carry heavy cream, I've noticed). Yum.

![]() Man that is one long-ass stall! Makes my post-induction stall look like child's play... I wonder how I should shake it up now. VLC doesn't help, stress seems to be an issue but I can't imagine it's the only thing holding me back. Perhaps it's calories... guess I should think about intermittent fasting? |

Just read the article on IF -- The Blog of Michael R. Eades, M.D. » Fast way to better health
So basically I alternate between eating breakfast & lunch one day, only supper the next day, then breakfast & lunch, etc. Sounds like something to try. |

Eh, then again I'm only starting week 2 of "re-induction" so maybe I should hold off and see what happens in the next 2 weeks. I have had a lot of carb creep over the past few months.

I hear IF is a good way to go. Been considering it here as well.

Yeah I can't imagine it won't work--reading some of Hyperlipid's articles I get the fact that fasting does a good number towards improving insulin sensitivity, so I would imagine integrating long periods of fasting in your weekly routine should help accelerate weight loss. I think some of my problem might be the high amount of protein in my typical foods vs. fat though, but I like what I've been eating so far. The bacon and HWC are probably my most prolific sources of fat. I also decided to start a probiotic today for kicks... hoping it'll calm things down over the long run.

Welp, starting IF today. Had two lunches earlier, and no dinner tonight lol
I'm not exactly "hungry," but oddly it's more of a nagging desire to eat. I kinda wonder if the body's circadian rhythm ties into the insulin system? It would seem my body got very used to eating around 6-7PM and I get slightly hungry then, although not bad hunger pangs just that gentle "urge" to eat. |

I found last night that in the midst of my fast, while I was getting hungry, the "low-carb energy" came back. It had mostly gone away or diminished but it was back in full force last night along with the super strong keto-breath. Guess my body got used to the Atkins diet somehow, maybe the frequent protein was sabotaging me, I dunno. |

Welp, at work now and I must say... My energy level is fine, better than it has been the past few days for sure. No problems riding my motorcycle (I was distantly worried about that; was thinking I'd have to drive my car for safety purposes instead, as the last time I tried a "fast" I was dizzy and tired but that was years before I did Atkins) and I feel pretty much normal, minus some small hunger pangs, frequent burps (lol I wonder what exactly it is I'm burping?) and raging keto-breath.
Bought a small thing of virgin coconut oil to keep at the office last night, along with the Caramel and Irish Cream davinci syrups. A brand new Wegmans opened about 8 miles away from my house 2 weeks ago and they carry a nice complement of DaVinci syrups; I'm like halfway through the chocolate and hazelnut already, lol, having drank tons of syrup+HWC+seltzer last weekend. I bought the Caramel and Irish Cream for work, so I have them on my desk to mix with tea or coffee. I might brew some decaf Assam tea in a few minutes and give the Caramel a try with a spoon of coconut oil to kick up my metabolism another notch maybe. As long as the CO doesn't mess with my insulin levels I think it'd be OK during the fast. I doubt it does. |

Love Wegmans!
Did a mini-fast myself yesterday: Ate about 1/3 cup Fage with Oat Bran (1.5 T), then didn't eat again until 4:30, trying to keep my eating within an hour. Started today with about 1/2 cup Fage with Oat Bran, and I won't eat again until dinner. I actually wasn't hungry at all yesterday (did have iced coffee though throughout the day). I worked out this morning on an empty stomach and was fine. Not sure what it'll mean for weightloss, but it's worth a shot! |

Yeah I think when it comes to our bodies and insulin resistance, fasting should present a fool-proof strategy and I'm guessing if our metabolism is still screwed up, the way we'll know is through lightheadedness or fainting... lol. Well maybe not, as ketones are usable by the brain too. Guess I'll see.

Huh well I'll be damned. That wooziness coincided with me brewing some decaf tea, putting the caramel davinci syrup and coconut oil and drinking it... it kinda started before the tea was done brewing, and continued for an hour or so afterward. My keto breath was still there but right now it's a lot stronger and I feel better. Weird. I guess the "anticipation" and the beverage itself somehow stimulated insulin, thus making the fast a little harder than usual.
Oh well, back to raging ketosis! I'm getting a lot done today too, which is awesome. |

whew damn that ride home was rough... got a little lightheaded at times but made it. Then gorged on dinner and some cheese and olives afterward. Now steadily trying to recover...
Think I'll drive the subaru on friday instead! |

Love your super-hero! And hooray for Subaru drivers! I've been driving the same one since 1999 (bought it new and paid it off in three years, so I am not interested in picking up a car payment any time soon!).

Lol nice, what kind? I bought mine brand new in 08 (Forester 2.5X Premium, non-turbo, 5spd manual)... guess I got a little over a year left of payments, and she's already got 100K miles LOL
---- I think the modification I'm going to make here is to eat a snack before leaving work so my fast gets quasi-broken on the way home, that should make it more bearable... Riding a motorcycle is notably more stressful than driving a car, and I'll bet that plays into why I got such a woozy feeling on the way home, probably Cortisol rearing its ugly head in the middle of the fast. |

whew, I still don't feel quite right lol... slightly dizzy though I didn't sleep as long as I should have, so maybe that's part of it. I think I am going to shift to an 18-hour fast; eat breakfast & lunch & snack on day 1, then break the fast at 12PM the next day with lunch and eat dinner. I think that should at least help.
Luckily with 70% chance of thunderstorms I don't particularly feel like riding the Yamaha, so I'm driving the Subaru today anyhow. Going to do that tomorrow too I think. |

yech, lack of sleep was not good, still feeling crappy. Notably higher stress level as a result. At least I don't have the slightest desire for food though. Bacon and a little sausage this morning with a HWC soda and I feel even fuller than normal. I'd say that's a positive change!
I believe doing an 18-hour fasting period will be much better. No dinner tonight, we'll see tomorrow how I feel! Last edited by spirilis; 06-16-2011 at 05:49 AM.. |
