PERFECT for a DD.

On the DH, I find that I get peturbed at mine more now than usual. I think it is because we are old. Finally. I agree about the years that we spent getting up early too. I sometimes lay in bed after I wake and think about how much I don't miss having kids in the house. Nowadays, it is Sadie (choc lab) who wakes me and wants her morning breakfast.
Ha! I feed mine in the afternoon! They get morning peanut butter dog cookies then have to wait.

Yes I sent DH an email and he reluctantly asked me to make a doctor appointment for him...and I did it this morning. He's going next week before work. He really hates seeing doctors and won't take any kind of drug to sleep, so maybe they'll figure out why his feet hurt and fix that.

I suppose I'll be able to sleep in once he retires (in a year or so) but til then it's up at 5am, fix breakfast and move on with my day. I don;t miss having small kids in the morning either. tee he he.

I saw a book at Costco yesterday. Another diet book of course. It was called the VB6 diet. Hmmm PHD, BV6? The premise is Vegan before 6 pm, then you can have meat/cheese whatever, after 6. I didn't buy it, but I did want to stand there and read it.

Hmmm, VB6? Interesting. I will do some research and see what I find out about Vegan before 6.

I think it is quite funny, that now diet books are being pumped out right and left. The 5:2 and 16:8 IF'ing books are really just another way to make $$$ off of the fasting phenomenon.

You can watch it! He was on Dr Oz the other week. I believe Bittleman is the author of that book. I know a lot of people hate Dr Oz, but I have learned so much from him. If only what is hot and new I don't know if I buy into that concept, but I find all sorts of nutrition interesting. The book I was interested in over the weekend was the new Hungry Girl one on desserts. I am so bad, I know. I just cannot get away from thinking about desserts

Someone's wearing the crabby pants today! I don't blame ya tho, I've been wearin mine for the better part of the last week or so..
Don't even get me started on the part about what I've done for the past 20 years around here.... :/ Good thing is that dh realizes this the last year and has bumped up his contributing greatly... And, uh, yeah, I'm not gonna miss having kids in the house. I can already tell you that!!!!

I hope the docs find out what's going on with DH... the foot thing could be alot of things.. I finally had to go to a podiatrist for my foot pain after my gp told me to "just lose some weight & you'll feel better"..... REALLY?

I got some RS last night. Just need to figure out how I'm gonna take it!

Darling Dawn, loving dessert does not make you a bad person, it makes you my friend. I bought HG's last book and gave it to my DD. It's not that I didn't like it, it was so huge I couldn't face it. I don't hate Dr Oz myself, I think he's pretty terrific. I do worry that he is over-exposed and may lose some of his influence. Influence that could be very helpful to people who may stop listening before they get it.

Thanks Dawn and Sunday for the 'head's up' on VB6. IDK if I could do this. I was a pure, righteous vegan for two solid years...having said that, I don't think I could go back. Dr Dean Ornish is another one I've followed for a long time. I believe he has good intentions. His Spectrum book is in my personal library and as far as foods go, I try to follow it. As much as I follow the hot fudge on the ice cream....

So thinking I'm going to do a down day today I had sauteed (gag) cabbage this morning. Either I wasn't hungry enough to like it or the RS is working. IDK.

I agree with Blonde. I don't hate Dr. Oz. In fact, I think he is very nice and lovable. I wish that "others" would quit trying to make a dollar off of his influence. I used to buy different "fat fighters" that were showcased on his show, garcinia, raspberry ketones, & green coffee bean, come to mind. They may actually work, but IMHO, I was certain that it was going to be the holy grail, when in fact, it is just another pill. I don't need any more to take.

Dani, I mix the RS in my first water when I wake. 2nd dose is in my green smoothie or on top of whatever I happen to eat that is not hot. 3rd dose is with my drink of choice after dinner. Last night, it was Sky zero cal Root Beer. You can't taste it, so mix it wherever you like.

Dawn, Please let us know about your desserts that you make! I am making GF brownies tomo w/ my BRM and will let you know how they taste.

sunday--I said I looked at the book. Like Blonde, I didn't buy it. But I would love to pick it up one day. I am interested in gluten free goodies as I believe that is best for my family. Doing potato days for a while though. So my baking will have to wait. I have a function on Tuesday that I would love to look slimmer for. Hoping to get rid of some excess fluid I have on me by then.

I am stopping by to give you a huge hug.

I know in this day and age, fast is better than slow and steady. Bev, was mentioning that to eat healthy requires quite a bit of prep and that is difficult in our fast paced life. I totally agree. I wish that we could be healthy by simply abstaining from the deadly 3, --grains, seed oils and sugar. Even if this is all we do, we are making huge strides. I think the overwhelming sense of "this is work and time", makes everyone think twice. I find that even making the smoothie w/ all of my good veggies, makes me weary. I am going to keep plodding along and hope that I continue to see the improvements in my health as I have already.

Bless you friends and thank you for the hugs. I've been feeling so weird and emotional, like I have major PMS...but no more "M" so I don't get it. Yesterday I put on my Suzy Homemaker hat and cleaned like a madwoman. It's like it was the only thing I could do to make myself feel better (since killing people is not an option). My bedroom is lovely and liveable now, I have umpteen loads of towels and clothes etc to fold and put away. We've been working on getting the bare concrete floor ready for tile and everything had been a mess and up in the air...so I did the one thing I could do, clean my room.

Yesterday was a low carb day all the way, and no wine. I have come to the realization that wine makes me feel very depressed...the day after. That makes me sad because I love to have some nice RED but I'm thinking it's a bad idea. Yes I know I've said this before...but I have to keep pounding the nail to get it driven all the way in. As for the LC, I have to get myself under control somehow and doing Atkins phase 1 is about the only way I can get it done. My PLAN is to JUDDD. BUT~ I have to get myself under control first.

My husband, Mr Crab...is actually Mr. Crab "the Saint" because he puts up with me. Every time he's asks me if I'm cranky I want to karate chop him in the throat. I say hateful things like 'Duh", or just give him my dirtiest look...or I walk away while he's talking to me, and I hear him say "Hello?"...He loves me anyway, the poor guy. I'm so lucky!!

No work today (no work for pay, anyway). I'm continuing my LC quest and my cleaning jag...which is better than a crying jag which just swells up my eyes and makes me feel sad and ugly too.

Wine does this to me too.
I absolutely love the feeling while drinking w/ good friends. But!!! I hate the cals and feeling the blah's next day. So, I made a big pact w/ myself that I try to keep, try is the word. I can have a nice glass any time when I arrive at goal, but until then, I have to say "no". I still sneak one in when I have meetups, but I have already told my besties the meetups can't be very often.

I love my DH too, and he can get on the last nerve at times, I don't know what I would do without my dear old man, though.

Have a good day Blonde!

Thank you Sunday!

I just found out my nephew is coming for a visit so I've ramped up my 'straightening' of the junk and hope he'll overlook the obvious...there's no tile or carpet in 1/3 of my house....I haven't seen him in many months so I'm excited, he'll be here this afternoon and is planning to stay a couple of days. I'm trying to gather the inmates for a dinner tonight...

Fell of the LC wagon last night...it was the wine and nachos what done it. No worries, right back on today. My DH took the day off to hang with my Nephew while I go off to work. Been tracking my cals as well as carbs and I'm doing well there. Having protein and salads is very satisfying for me, once I get off the carb train.

The whole fam was over last night and we had a really good time. Dh and my nephew broke out the guitars and it was a music feast, my favorite. I didn;t get as much sleep as I like but I can rest after work today. Hope everyone has a happy!

Aw, I'm so glad that everyone is having a great time visiting with family!! Back on track and moving forward, you're awesome.

Took my first tbsp of RS... I did water.....I regretted it before I even drank it...it was like drinking flour water I got it down though so we'll see what happens now!

Trying for a DD today... we'll see if I can do it, I woke up absolutely starved!

Have a great day

Danielle~ more water. You shouldn't really taste it, but if you want to put it in zero calorie juice or diet coke or whatever you might like it better. Congrats on giving it a try. I've had a good day so far, DH and nephew are missing and presumed to be at the Casino. The Z-Car is gone and the house is empty. In their absence I've consumed two glasses of merlot....oops. But def LC.DEF LC.

Checking in!

Congrat's on a great day yesterday!! Sounds like DH and the nephew are having a fun visit! Leaves you to your own time, so I guess everyone wins, huh?

So I only did the 1T of RS yesterday... while I didn't feel horrible yesterday, my tummy got sorta wonky but I definitely had some diminished appetite. Didn't do one this morning, but planning one this afternoon. I believe there is something to it and I'm hopeful!

DO you work today? We're on the last 2 days of school for DD16 over here...and DD18 comes home tomorrow too...then it all ramps up again and mom's taxi will go into full effect for working, etc!

I don't work today...took it off but Nephew left at dark yesterday to drive home so I have the day to myself....WOOT! He and DH drove to the mountains yesterday and had lunch out, took some great pictures. DH actually stayed in bed all night last night. SHOCKER! I think he needed the time to relax.

Dani~I'm doing well (I think)...I can't make up my fickle mind...what is it that I want to do? This is so confusing. I know you can relate to this: How can I eat whatever I want, whenever I want and lose weight, too? So the obvious answer is:

A) Become a marathon runner.
B) Become bulimic
C) Convince myself that I don't want to eat the things I want to eat
D) Convince myself that I'm never hungry, ever
E) All of the Above
F) None of the Above.

See what I mean? When did food take on such importance? Better yet, when was it never important? I do remember ONCE when I fell in love with my husband...food became...nothing to me. I could eat...or not. That's about it. Once. Now the other issue. What should I be eating?

A) whole grains, fruits and veggies
B) No grains, fruits and veggies
C) Low fat dairy vs regular vs fake dairy
D) No dairy, no wheat, no nuts, no beans, no fat
D) Nothing but animals and animal products
E) Everything but animals and animal products
F) All of the above
G) None of the above

If you answered F or G, you are as confused as I am. I'm starting to think if I could just pick something and stick with something. IDK. IDK. IDK. etc. I'm lost once again. I may be simply neurotic or full blown mental. IDK that either.

And...where does wine fit in the picture???

This is what I keep telling myself lately.

It's true, I want to want what I want when I want it and still lose weight. Welp, guess what? That is neva eva gonna happen. EVA!!! There's gotta be some hard work and some true dedication on my part to get what I want and realize the transformation that I want. I can't figure out WTH I am so afraid of?????

If you're neurotic or mental, well, then, I guess i am too. ....and yep, that's a-ok with me. I'm in good company!

Danielle~Okay you're right of course. So without making any specific plans/commitments cause I don't know yet, I want to say this (mostly to those who doubt me...like...me, myself and I, not you sweetie ):

This is my plan. It's my life's plan. It may not be conventional. It may not meet your approval. It may make you feel uncomfortable. It may make you think that you are qualified to judge me and my plan. It may make you feel that you must get between me and my plan, for my own good. But it's mine and It will work for me. SO. Step. Aside.

Whew! That felt good.

Yeah Yeah Yeah....I'm kinda quote-y today... seems like someone is trying to tell me (you?) something?????

This was on my twitter feed....

Be Healthy‏@BeHeaIthy
An attitude of "whatever is convenient" won't accomplish very much. An attitude of "whatever it takes" is impossible to stop.

So I ask (mainly myself), at what point do we start doing "whatever it takes" and run over whatever gets in the way???

Exactly! I'd say as soon a possible! I have three LC days behind me (the first two with wine) yesterday no wine (just whine)lol. I read all day yesterday, referencing several books on sugar/carbs...to remind myself why sugar is so bad for us, particularly if one is already overweight. I read about how sugar keeps the insulin levels high, never allowing our system to get into a fat burning mode, keeping us fat and making us fatter. I applied what I read to myself, trying to low cal/low fat all of these months (5 months) and barely making a dent. In spite of losing a few pounds I feel mushy and out of shape. It's funny how I know these things and yet I still want what I want when I want it. Ultimately, I'm the only one who can Captain my destiny. If I don't help myself, I'm sunk. I'd love to be able to JUDDD and I still want to do that. I need to be in control first. LC is my way of gaining control. I do know this for sure: Even low carbing I must count my calories, or no results.

Yeah, it appears that I need to follow your lead.... last night was a beer & pizza night...
Total loss at trying to explain my behavior....

Work today?
I'm on the hunt for an exercise bike. I think I could really get going with that just because it doesn't require me to go anywhere or get ready for anything...ya just do it!

Took my RS this morning... Tried it in some diet soda...while it was better it still kinda made it look milky.. I'm questioning my ability to actually be able to choke this stuff down..

Yeah it is so crazy...I had pizza last week. DOH! Idiot, me. Behavior is hard to explain, for sure. I've put the food in mouth and started to chew really fast while my mind is yelling "What are you doing???" I ranted on your page, I hope you don't mind?

Yes honey, follow my lead. I'm trying so hard to just do it. I can lc, I don't love it because I LOVE CARBS. Carbs love me. They will love me to death if I allow it. I know if I stick long enough I'll lose my 'appetite' for all things carb. I can make flax foccacia, I can make almond bread if I must. I can have pizza with modified crust', I actually love salads w/ blue cheese dressing. Even the light dressing only has one carb. The only way to do this is to 'obsess' over the 'badness' of bad carbs. I tell myself summer is coming and BBQ's are great for low carb'ing. I talk talk talk to me. Do I listen? IDK. I'm with you, whatever you do!!!

If it is important enough to you, you will find a way. If it is not, you will find an excuse.

I get this quote about importance and success, but I do disagree. Maybe it's me feeling guilty or resembling that remark, IDK. But to say we are fat because being thin is not important to us is the same as saying "if you really wanted to be thin, you would be". Dammit we all want to be thin, and many of us have struggled with weight issues for years. We are here everyday because it's important to us. I'm not making excuses, I'm just tired of being blamed (or misunderstood) for being fat. We all know that it's not that simple. I wish it were. How many times have we stuck to the plan, counting...measuring? To no avail? Motivation is the key and it's hard to be motivated when you are getting nowhere. I get on and I fall off the wagon sometimes more than once a day. Am I weak? Maybe. Do I want to stay fat? Hell no. If I had the answer, I would be thin right now. If there was an answer.

Why do some people make it, and others don't? I don;t think it's because they wanted it more than me. 99% mental? I think it's 110% mental.

I took this from Danielle's journal, I was ranting and wanted a copy of my rant.

Sorry Dani, I got carried away.

I'm absolutely stuffed after taking it this morning... I barely got down breakfast.. and the rumbly isn't there this time... not sure what this will do...so far I don't notice any bloat

RS is supposed to be used in gluten-free baking....I'm sure you'll find something to make!
