I remember my sister and her asthma issues...tough stuff! Thankful that DD16's doesn't seem to be severe that way..

It's great that you haven't been so hungry despite the steroids. This is good news! Yup, we keep doing what we do until it stops and then we go to something else...progress forward is all that matters!!

Gonna find some more inspiration this weekend..I won tickets to go see Jillian Michaels. The universe is watching me, I think?

Wow that is amazing!! The universe is indeed looking out for you! Go with an open mind and heart and be dazzled and inspired. That is freakin' awesome, Danielle!! I'm giddy over here...and I'll be with you in spirit there.

PHD (Perfect Health Diet) Sundays gig, you can follow her link... says that if your body is nourished and getting the good macros and enzymes and essentials from the right food, it doesn't crave other stuff. I dd not really believe this even though many were stating that this was happening to them. Well apparently it's now happening to me. I don't know how long it will last but I'll take it while I can. I had GF toast and eggs for breakfast today, muy bueno and I'm going to Soup Plantation for lunch. Tonight I'll have more of my mondo veggie soup and some kind of protein and rice or rice noodles, then maybe something nice for desert. Did I mention the GF chocolate covered Rice Krispie treats at the casino???

Weird how things happen when ya least expect it! This happened one other time with a contest I entered for a trip to LA for a Social D contest...it was total amazeballs!

Going in with a totally open mind and I love her philosphies anyways so I'm sure I'll be thrilled. Anxious to get my hands on her book now..it was something that I'd planned on buying in the next few weeks to read once I got through a couple books I already had.. Well, that idea has changed! LOL

GF chocolate???? Really????? I'm debating informing DD about this

Well now, I don't know about the chocolate but the rice krispies were gluten free! I do know you can get GF chocolate at Sprouts and whole foods Market...

Had a great salad today!

Yeah we did see some gf chocolate stuff at whole foods before...for about 50 billion dollars! Even at WalMart today, while they had more of a selection than I thought they would..it was STILL spendy. I think she is thrilled that she can eat rice and potatoes..she loves them both...and a big phew for mom!

I'm having a big salad tonight for dinner, I can't wait.

Dani I'm so glad your baby is adjusting to the dietary changes. As for you, isn't it crazy to anticipate a yummy salad? I love that!

I think my breathing is better, but not enough to go out walking or strolling. My body is tired today, my mind is tired and I feel the effects of the prednisone. Last night I could feel myself quaking in my sleep. DH has now has my cold and tossed turned and talked in his sleep all night. I would like to lie on a warm beach and snooze in the breeze...and sip a nice wine spritzer with crushed ice and an orange slice...and smell cocoa butter and sea salt.

Veggie-Fruit DD today. My weight loss stuck, so 10.4lbs down since the beginning of the year, 4 of them in the last two weeks (since I made the change over.) Lovely to lose a few pounds, now I just need to feel well enough to enjoy it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

She's doing great! 2 nights of good sleep and no issues.. she woke up today feeling really good so hoping we're on the right track!

Ugh! Sorry you're still not feeling well. Hoping today you find rest and peace. Bummer about DH being sick..that's a whole drama all on it's own...I know from my own experience with mine

You're doing great! I wish I could say I was down something from the beginning of the year..unfortunately not so much! I do the yo-yo really well tho so can't say I'm not real good at something, can I?

Hi Dani! Hiya Frankie! It's nice to see you here!

I just sent an email to my management team requesting coverage for my shifts this week. While I am better, and no longer feeling at death's door, I have not got the breath for carrying trays and walking the restaurant. I feel a bit useless. My DD is moving this weekend and I will be of no help at all. My DH has a music gig today and I'm not going. My carpet looks like it's made of llama hair from the dang sheddy dogs and I don't have the energy to vacuum. I'm seeing my regular Doc on Monday to reevaluate. I have one more day of prednisone to go....I'm ready to feel normal (whatever that is).

Speaking of carpet, I have to get this stuff out of here. My dining/family room is the only carpeted place left and it's bad news. I can't have anything to do with removing it, it's that toxic. Dogs and dust and dander and who knows what else?

One day at a time.......

Dealing with asthmatic stuff is exhausting..really does a number on the body for sure..I'm glad you're taking another week off.
I am more than sure that your DD and DH will more than understand that you need rest and not exertion at this moment!

I'm not sure how completely GF you have gone, but just an observation we had over here with DD16...she has gone completely GF..to the point of seperate toasters, seperate butters, pb, everything.. and she woke up today noticing that she has needed her inhaler less the last couple days.. Very interesting indeed! I can't recall anything about this, but I'll have to go look and dig to see cause it's driving me nuts. Would be lovely to be able to control some of her symptoms thru food!

Definitely not celiacs GF. I have noticed an improvement in asthma symptoms since I gone off but spending hours in the casino last week was the trigger. One that I'll not repeat. The thing that keeps coming back around to mind is the way I've taken health for granted. The days I could have walked (for exercise) but didn't because I had a million excuses...and the fact that right now it's not possible to go out walking without running out of breath. I need to remember these things when I'm better, and to strike while the iron is hot instead of putting everything off for another day. Dumb behavior. Another thing about asthma is that it makes me feel like I'm never going to be okay and the anxiety from that is exhausting. Is this the one that won't stop, or put me on permanent steroids? I feel out of control of my health and I hate it. I really am trying to be positive, even though it probably doesn't sound like it. Thanks for your comfort, I appreciate it. I'm really glad your DD is better. Now the trick is to not backslide into wheat, although the symptoms return pretty quickly if you do.

Right now she is contemplating the complications of eating out. We obviously haven't had her tested for anything but simply were going by her symptoms/issues...so honestly we have no idea whether she'd truly have reactions to any cross-contamination in a miniscule amount.. she'll have to find out if she has a reaction I suppose.. for now tho I think we'll eat as cleanly as possible and see.. Red Robin does offer an entirely seperate GF kitchen for cooking which is pretty awesome.

I can definitely understand your feelings today..I have continually put off so much; eating right, exercise.... and it seems only when something "happens" that I go into activation mode.. let's not look at all the days where I could have walked, chosen better foods just because that's what I should have been doing to improve my health... and now that I am struggling with weight loss now I sit and wonder just how must damage I've done that I may never reach my goal...or worse, just be sick for forever.. I get it. I really really do.

....and the sad pathetic thing????? I am frustrated again with weight loss and contemplated just chucking it all because, I mean, what's the point afterall?

Sending you, Blonde and Danielle hugs.

Losing weight is sooo hard, but health is so important, too. You are both young so it is worth the effort. There is no magic potion, but you know we all care about you and want the best for you.

I have fallen into the thinking that I can exercise tomorrow when I really have time right now to do it. Your post was great about doing things NOW and not waiting until we can't do it anymore.

Dani~ the commiseration is mutual. I hope you had a great time with Jillian Michaels last night. Come share the wisdom when you get a moment?

Hi Seabreezes! Thank you! Especially about the 'young' part!

In the continuing saga of my health issues, Saturday night I broke out in HIVES. I called the 24/7 Nurse Line and she told me not to take my last dose of prednisone until I talk to my Doc. Being that yesterday was Sunday and no Doc was available, I skipped it and took Benadryl every 4-5 hours. The hives went away. But are they gone for good? IDK. I have an appointment this afternoon with my Doc...I hope this is the end of the cold/asthma/ hives complaint. If it was the prednisone, what will I do next time this happens?

I hope your doc will have some answers for you. I am sorry that you have been put through the wringer with your health issues lately. You are so right about how we can be complacent and take for granted having good health and the ability to walk and do everyday things and exercise on a regular basis. Thanks for the reminder to do what I can do now so I can reap the benefits of it long term.

Oh Ladies! Thanks for hangin' in with me! Frankie, your welcome, I need to take my own advice.

I'm better. Doc said she doesn't believe that prednisone caused my hives. She said if she thought it had she would be sending me to an allergist because prednisone is the go-to drug...for hives. She suggested that it could have been stress induced, lord knows I've been stressed. After listening to my lungs she prescribed another round of prednisone. Since it was late in the day, my pharmacist suggested I wait until morning. Yesterday morning I felt...better. I decided to wait to see how I felt as the day progresses, telling myself I would start the prednisone if I felt at all wheezy. I never started it. I'm better today, too. I feel as if I've turned a corner (and dodged the proverbial bullet). I was freaking out about the prednisone/hives connection, which in turn made everything worse. I do feel better and I'm grateful for it. Hallelujah!

Good Morning Danielle, thanks for checking on me! I'm slowly getting better, tired a lot but napping during the day and sleeping better at night. Breathing better, too. I'm still coughing quite a bit but my plan is to go back to work on Monday. Meh, I do dread it a little. My upper back is tender, too much coughing and sitting I think.

oooo! What's the big plan? What kind of shenanigans??? Inquiring minds want to....live vicariously through you!

As for the scale, yes stay off it. I certainly am after a week of prednisone. I was without appetite for several days then, BAMM...hunger was on me like white on rice. Yesterday I finally felt in control of myself, today even more so. I'm using last week's numbers for my weigh in, no point in spinning myself out.

I'm venturing out today to meet my BFF for lunch at Souplantation. I am hopefully going to get my house cleaned up this weekend. I vacuumed on Monday with a dust mask on, but it kicked my @$$ big time. It needs to be done again desperately. You'd think with all these kids and in-laws someone would volunteer to help an old lady out..... Yes that was funny.

Ugh, the aches and pains that come from so much coughing! I'm sorry

Well, we just ended up doing a little shopping..I think I ended up with more goodies than the birthday boy ..but, that's my hubbs..constantly spoiling me. Oh. Yeah. And...uhhhhhh, dinner was a total blow out.. Lord, I practically had to roll myself out the restaurant door
...have noticed that I am gravitating more and more back to rotations.. I find this very interesting indeed!

Oh, but the kids will always be just that...KIDS! Momma is always gonna have to remind, ask, or call in favors until we kick the bucket

Enjoy your time with BFF it will be good to get out!

What did you have for dinner? I must know. I can't believe you were at Gordon Biersch and had no BEER. Surely there is a wheat free beer? I know I buy Svedka Vodka...it's made with potatoes, not wheat. Ilove that you're gravitating back to rotations. If you ever get tired of LC, try the fruit/veggie rotation. I really like it. My breakfast this morning (I know this will make you gag) sliced banana and roasted butternut squash, and a squeeze of Agave nectar. It was heavenly, I'm not kidding.

DD is having a little BBQ at the new place tonight, I'm so excited to go do something fun. I'm making DH be the designated driver cause I'm having me some fun with wine. Or maybe Svedka. I'm just looking forward to being out.

Well, dinner was definitely not lc! And calories??? WTH were those??

I dunno about wheat-free beer..and I don't usually bother with any other types of alcohol.. I enjoy my beer and drinking isn't something that I *have* to do so I just haven't bothered with anything else.. I did see some gluten free vodkas advertised on a blog I was reading the other day, interesting stuff!

Enjoy the BBQ, sounds like fun!

Hello girls! Thanks for the gardening tips Blonde! I am so excited to start. It is in the upper 60's all week and lows upper 40's, so I am going to till today.

Have fun with DD and family! Enjoy wine and health! I am starting to feel like my old self. Doc switched my thyroid meds to Westhroid and upped the dose. It is funny that I thought I was doing well on Armour except that I couldn't up the dose? Don't really know what was going on in that area? I notice I sleep very well now.

Good Morning Dani and Sunday! Hope you both had a great weekend.

I'm going back to work today with dread and anticipation. I want to be able to complete my shift but I haven't lifted a tray in a couple of weeks. Just a little nervous about it.

Dani the BBQ was fun but put off so much smoke I had to sit on the other side of the house until the cooking was over.

Sunday, I'm excited for your garden. Keep me posted!

We went for a ride yesterday and covered 90 miles in a huge loop that went up to Sunrise Highway (5000 ft) and across to the Anza Borrego Desert Overlook, around to Highway 79 and Lake Cuyamaca then back down 8 west to home. We saw deer, coyote, tree squirrels, wild turkeys and assorted birds on the wing. The weather was perfect, the top was down and we took tons of pictures. After we got back I went to DD's and she worked on my hair so I could go to work without being self conscious. Quite a bit of grey was washed out of my blonde hair.

Today will be the first fruit and veggie DD in awhile...I fully intend to rock it.

Quick update: I rechecked my schedule and they've taken me off for today and tomorrow! Weird! I'm still scheduled for Wednesday. So today I will slowly and methodically clean my house...with a dust mask on. Sheesh.

No complaints at all...and I have been cleaning (I'm also getting a manicure in an hour), taking back library books and picking up a hard floor cleaner. Then if I'm lucky, I'll have a nap...after lunch.

Yes the drive was really nice, I told DH next time we should dress appropriately for a bit of hiking, too. There was so much to see. There was a trail marked by the Stonewall Mine but we didn't have the right shoes or extra water so we thought we'd explore there next time. Gold was discovered there in 1870 and produced $2,000,000 in gold before it was abandoned (along with the town that sprang up to support the miners). Just an interesting factoid.

I'm feeling like my old self today, mostly.

So glad you're feeling better! Hoping ya don't overdo it today tho, so rest up.

Sounds like you guys found a great place to do some exploring. I love when unexpected little ideas & places like that pop up!

Busy girl today, hope you enjoyed that manicure and the nap!

Hi Dani! I'm so sorry, I'm having a hard time writing at the moment. Everything I think is all bottled up in my brain and won't translate itself to paper. I'm feeling better everyday (physically) but my head is still a mess. The mental stress of being so sick and the fear of having another asthma attack...it just takes some time and distance away from the event to let it go. My eating has been not so great but I'm back to work today and looking to do a fruit/veggie day. I've been out of bed for three hours and all I really want to do is go back to sleep for awhile. It'll be better after I shower and get ready to go.

How are you??
