Thanks Dani! Radiology is supposed to contact me this week and ultra sound in the next couple of weeks. Blood tests to follow the ultra sound. I don't know enough about thyroid to be scared, so ignorance is bliss. My mind would like to go to the worst case scenario (cancer) but I've always told my children not to worry about stuff that hasn't happened yet and so I take my own advice.

I hope your DD16 feels better. Nothing worse than tummy troubles. Years ago I would get the "fist in the stomach' feeling and DH would juice cabbage for me. Nasty stuff but it would work in about 10 minutes. All better. I'm learning more and more that the 'gut' is the key to healthful healing. If the gut is happy then lots of other things fall into place. I think letting her eat intuitively is a really good idea. She has a very smart Mommy.

I made up in calories yesterday what I didn't eat on Monday so I guess this is how it balances. Today will be an 'eat well and not over' day! I met BFF for lunch, she works in a pharmacy directly across the street from my Doctor's offices. We went to Pick up Stix, I hadn't been there in decades and ordered the wrong thing. What I thought was boneless chicken breast and brown rice turned out to be some fried sugary savory concoction of chicken and green onions, completely, insanely delicious. I ate the whole thing. That is my splurge for this week.

I'm going to make an effort to get out and walk this morning after the sun comes up. I need it.

Oh the lovely internet, so many searches, so many answers...so much terror-filled info. Did you know the first symptom of Thyroid Cancer is a lump or swelling in the neck?? Okay, honestly...now I'm scared. Did you know that 5-10 out of 100 people who have a lump or swelling in the neck have thyroid cancer? Did you know that people who were exposed to ex-ray radiation a lot during childhood (me) are more likely to get thyroid cancer? I do now. And here I was getting all concerned about having to possibly take statins for high cholesterol. I need a xanax.

Back away from the keyboard... NOW! Scaring the bejeezus out of yourself right now isn't going to do you any good. I can't believe she didn't go over anything with you before you left? Maybe she didn't want you dwelling on all of it and figured the ignorance is bliss method was best... get ignorant, lady! STAT!

My SIL had her thyroid removed and has done really well..she said she actually felt loads better after it was out and she began to heal..said it was a relief to know that all of the icky she'd felt for SO long was gone and not "her" per se.. her weight dropped immediately and she was able to lose easier...years she'd struggled with weight and inability to lose..

Things WILL be ok, mama! AS always, sending lots of hugs and good thoughts for you!

Pick up Stix...DH loved that place when we were living in San Diego..he used to get it all the time when he was working at Acura, it was just down the road I believe.. glad you had a great time with your BFF!!

Work today?

Dani~ you're right, I think my Doc was keeping me calm, she even said "I'm not worried" so neither was I until I read webmd...yikes..I'm back to ignorant but it may be too late. Like closing the barn door. I'm trying not to worry, worry doesn't help. Thank you for your support and hugs, I appreciate it more than you know.

I have an appointment already, at 4:45 today...better to get it done then have to wait three weeks for the ultra sound. No prep needed, just show up and do a little paperwork first. I really hope DH can go, just so he'll drive!

No work today, unexpectedly got my shift picked up. I was going to walk but I got out my watercolors instead...very soothing. On the good news front, DD28 and her groom (1year married) put in an offer on a house last night. Keeping my fingers crossed! The house is on the same street as his parents...and maybe 2 miles from me, Woot! They made an official offer, signed some papers and they are waiting to hear if they can open an escrow.

Tells ya something if the doc wasn't too too worried..she would know, right?

Painting's probably better for you right now..glad you found something to keep you busy!

Had my ultra sound, took about 20 minutes. Their Doctor will review them this morning, my Doctor will have them in a couple of days, So now, I relax and wait for further instructions...

Went over calories yesterday but not by too much. Actually I was golden til I had some gf toast in the evening. I needed it. Traffic was so bad yesterday after the ultra-sound, DH and I got off the freeway and found a taco bell. I had two tacos and a pintos n cheese. These were the least calories and GF. Afterward I was still hungry but refrained from ordering more food...just had some toast at home. Considering how much I used to eat, this is a miracle. I'm loving the new food counter and love how I know where I am with the macros. Accountability is the key to weight loss. No more turning a blind eye to my shenanigans.

A bit stuffed up this morning with an itchy ear...sounds like allergies to me.

Blonde....so strange....feel like I know you so well as I've been following your blog forever and although we've posted back and forth a bit, almost feel like I'm intruding to be responding to what's going on in your life.

Just want you to know that I understand what you're going through. Have been dealing with heart arrythmia issues myself for the past week (A-fib, A-flutter) and seeing specialists and having tests done and trying to choose a treatment plan....all the while reading all kinds of horror stories on the internet. What is worse, is that I'm a retired nurse and a little knowledge is a dangerous thing...I drive my doctor crazy!

Nothing but good wishes for you and prayers for benign results! You're doing all the right things and your doctor sounds in control. I too believe in the philosophy of "don't worry until there's something to worry about" and tell my kids that all the time....but sometimes hard to put into practice with ourselves.

Hang in there!

Sherrie, I so appreciate your comforting words. I choose to journal here and I wouldn't write anything that I'm not comfortable sharing, you are absolutely not intruding. Thank you for your support. I'm very sorry you're having some scary issues yourself! Heart flutters and skippies are hard to ignore. You're right, a little knowledge can scare the pants off you. I'm staying off of webmd for awhile. We'll hang in together. Will you please keep me posted, too? It's good to have a supportive network. It's funny but I can say things here that I would never say out loud...

Glad the ultrasound is done..

Oye, good ole Taco Bell.. I always end up eating too much there for whatever reason..it's never my intention to eat alot.and in the grand scheme I don't order a whole lot.just the calorie count is usually exhorbitant.. ..needless to say we don't go there often since I prefer to blow calories on chipotle if I'm gonna make a mess of things..at least it tastes awesome, right? I applaud you on making conscious choices.. thinking I mighta just jumped off the deep end given what you're dealing with at the moment. Go you!

On my 2nd dose of sudaphed..last night was miserable!..took the first does around 5pm and by the time bed time rolled around..OMG..just so outta sorts and my throat and ear were killing me..

Have a great day today honey..and really hoping the stuffiness and ear thing clear fast!

Dani~ is the sudaphed helping? I should have mentioned that I only take one at a time...it's powerful stuff. Hope you feel better soon. The Zyrtec did the trick, I feel great now, no stuffy nose or itchy ears.

GOOD NEWS! I don't know how they know these things from a picture, but Doctor called and said my thyroid has a benign cyst. Nothing to worry about, no treatment necessary. She still wants me to have the thyroid blood panels done, but unless it bothers me or starts to hurt, it's all good. I thought for sure I'd have to have a biopsy, at the least!
I can't tell you how relieved I am. I didn't know how scared I was until I got the good news. Crazy, So glad I didn't have to wait to find out!

I spent the day out with my BFF...we had lunch and stuff, then came home and called my Doc. I'm going to sleep much better tonight!

I dunno about the sudaphed? Took it last night the 1st time and I felt really ick for the remainder of the night..ear pain,etc.. took 2nd does this morning and nothing has really happened except for sometimes when I swallow I feel like something's moving in there loudly? Throat area on same side still hurts too.

I am THRILLED the results came back so positive!! Definitely think you should have the thyroid panel run..could be the culprit for your inability to lose, among other ways you've been feeling. The thyroid threads here are full of all kinds of great info and will list the specific tests needed to find out if you have a full functioning thyroid or not..

So glad that you got to spend the afternoon with the BFF.

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! Great that you don't have to spend the weekend worrying. My daughter has a benign nodule on her thyroid also....very common in women I think. Good luck with your bloodwork...it just may be the answer to your slower weight loss.

Off to discuss my options with my cardiologist this morning. Guess I face either a cardioversion (paddles) or ablation to get me out of this atrial flutter. Both scare me s***less!

Oh Sherrie! I can only imagine how scared you must feel. Yikes. On a good note, my mom in law was having issues and she had the aversion (paddles) done. Her heart wasn't fluttering though, it was racing away and the procedure corrected the problem. Hugs to you, please keep me posted. And yes, I feel very fortunate to not have to worry all weekend about my test results. Thank you for your concern.

Dani~ I'm not a doctor, nor have I played one on TV but I think you need to see someone about your eyes and ears (and now throat) It could be a sinus infection or not, but because it's not improving, get it checked out right away. Better now than the ER ($$$) in the middle of the night. I was going to have fasting blood tests this morning but there were two major accidents on two major freeways this morning because of dense fog. I'm gonna wait til Monday...all I have to do is show up at the lab.

Hey Christine, thank you! I've been missing you. I'm so proud of you for doing C25K!

Have to say I'm feeling like a huge weight has been lifted from me. It's time to re-evaluate what I'm doing here. I think (for now) I have my plan under control but I'm sorely lacking in the exercise department. I sure wish I had a walking buddy who could walk in the mornings with me. I know it's better to be accountable to someone and showing up at the park because someone is waiting...well I would show up. Mornings are best weather-wise, especially as it gets warmer...

Grocery shopping today, woo hoo......

Hoping today finds you with a little spring in your step. I can only imagine the huge relief you feel, *I* felt relief for cryin out loud!

I would so love a walking buddy... don't get me wrong, DH is usually right there front & center to support me in any way, even a walk after being on his feet for 14 hrs.. problem is, he walks rreeaalllyyyy fast! His legs are probably twice as long as mine and then he walks fast..I'm taking like 3-4 steps to his 1-2 stride

Eww..that reminds me, I have grocery shoppin today too!

Yikes about the accidents!! Are you getting the thyroid done at the same time?

Mornin' Danielle!

Yeah the tests are for thyroid....I could have gone today but that would have meant no coffee for hours... Thank you, I felt like I'd been holding my breath for three days...

My DH has long legs too. Maybe yours could walk and you could ride a bike? Or rollerskate? Skateboard? Windsail? Kayak? Okay now I'm being ridiculous, you don't ride a skateboard.

So no mention of seeing a doctor, eh? I'm on to you. I hope you feel better soon.

No, no doc... no insurance... If I'm dying then I might go

Me on a skateboard might be pretty frightening.. windsailing could be fun, but then that's not exactly me *doing* exercise, is it? Kayaking, rollerskating, and walking all sound like exercise... remember, I'm allegic.

Thank you Christine, you too!

Lots of stuff going on this week...DD the younger is in escrow, DS the twin to DD the younger is going on tour with his band for two weeks (starting this Thursday) my grand girls will be with me all next week and the week after for Spring break...I have to get fasting labs done this week, DH is grumpy again and is in dire need of a vacation, I am swimming as fast as I can, counting calories and only failing to stay within them, oh, 50% of the time. I feel a bit depressed but nothing to worry about, after all it is Monday. Spring is two days away.....

I'm actually doing okay with this calorie counting thing...I'm making the best choices I can, but with the baby-shower-cream-cheese-frosting on Saturday (dipped baby carrots into this stuff, I'm GF you know) and the wine overload yesterday....I'm not doing so hot with the eating thing. Better choices this week, okay Blonde?

B: GF toast, egg, 2% cheese slice & coffee = 239 Breakfast is always the easy part, I know what I'm having, I like it, it's filling and sticks with me for awhile. I need to come up with a go-to lunch to get me safely to dinner time.

Wowzers, sounds like the twins have got things rolling, don't they! How cool for a tour!! I know DS would be thrilled to do something like that someday. So when the girls are with you guys all that time does that mean you're not working? That's gonna be a long coupla weeks for DH, huh?

Probably gonna try some gf bread this week..I'm not entirely sure yet I can convince DH to spend nearly $8 on a loaf of bread, but we'll see

Have a great day!!

Mornin' Dani!

When the girls are not in school they come to me in the mornings and I take them to the B & G CLub at noon or to Mom at 10:15 if I work that day, so just part of the day. They have nintendo hand held stuff and are self-entertaining (mostly). Last summer we walked in the mornings and that made afternoons more mellow...they are growing so fast, I dread the day when they say "Do we have to go to Gram's"?? DH is gone by 5:45am so he never sees them (unless they stay here instead of going to the club). Yep, he's a cranky guy....

The GF bread I buy is from a local bakery called Johann's. I really like the taste and it's lower in calories and carbs then some of the 'national' breads. I was pleasantly surprised how good it is. I pay almost $7 a loaf but it lasts all week long. I'm excited that you're giving GF a try.

Yesterday I came in under 300 calories (of my total cals for the day), on purpose. Trying to play catchup with the overages of the weekend! Dinner was a salad w/ chicken ala' the JUDDD days, really good. So better choices, no wine.

Got scolded by the moderators this morning for using these words, please excuse my pig latin (ot-day om-kay) when speaking of where I log my food, at live strong even though the site is legal here, I tried to circumvent the rules by spelling out the (ot-day om-kay). And next time if I'm unsure, I should ask first. Let's see if this slides by.....it would be cool to find out that pig latin is a international language. IDK.

Well it sounds like a lovely set up for the grandkids..I'm sure they love being able to spend time with their grandparents!

Lookit you go, Miss 300 Calories! Good for you!!! I may opt into the rotations once I get to feeling better and on better ground with lc.. I love the sense of freedom that DD's gave me.

I hope today was a great day for you. I miss "spending the day" with you here

Lookit you go, Miss 300 Calories! Good for you!!! I may opt into the rotations once I get to feeling better and on better ground with lc.. I love the sense of freedom that DD's gave me.

Oh Dani~ I was 330 calories under 1500.....

I hope today was a great day for you. I miss "spending the day" with you here
Yesterday was just 'meh'. I feel like I'm having dietary growing pains again! I had the grand girls for the morning plus 6 nervous dogs who 'went off' barking every time one would make the slightest yip. By the end of the day I felt truly frazzled....and got into the vino, but just a little.

Yay Rayne! Another Latin master! Thanks for lurking, too! It's nice to hear from you. You don't think I'm nuts, right? I have a fear of ending up in some sociology class as a prime example of a true freak I'm just...eccentric.

Hi Blonde, my two babes bark at the sound of the FedEx, UPS, & postman EVERY.Single.Livelong.Day. I don't know what I will do when I retire and have to listen to their neurosis on a regular basis.

I am so glad to know that you are not needing a thyroidectomy. On the depression, I go back and forth with this. I am not sure if it is my age, or if it is simply life in general? Nonetheless, I want to offer my heartfelt hugs.

It is your thyroid. Get your thyroid optimized and the depression goes away. Or at least should be better.
