Man, my head is swimming with all this stuff!! I'm sure I'll have questions

You mentioned you're eating lower carbs, what sorts of things do you eat to get to your 50-100g?

Have major issue with the allotment of calories for UD...2465! That seems like SO much!! About the only time I could see that coming in handy would be on a date night.

I am SO glad to hear you are feeling better without the wheat. That is really inspiring. I looked at the Wheat Belly book yesterday while we were out...tempted to buy it but remembered that I literally have a stack of books that I have YET to read. Darn school and priorities!

I'm thinkin that I can set up a rotation that absolutely works with our schedule even for night's out! This excites me.

Have a great day at work and awesome job on the biking!! I'm actually in the process of looking for one to buy soon.

Danielle I know it's a lot to take in. I'll help in any way I can!

When I talk about 50-100g it's because I eat veggie carbs even though they are higher than protein or fats. I eat carrots-raw and cooked, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, turnips, brussel sprouts, a small amount of beans, like re-fried if I want, etc. I cook with onions and peppers quite a bit. Onions are fairly high carb. I try not to fret over these higher carb veggies and they make my up days more satisfying. Also I eat almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds as condiments quite a bit but only on up days. Occasional low carb ice cream. I've been avoiding all grains but I'm not opposed to eating rice or corn if I really want it. My main thing is to stay away from wheat. I would eat fruit on an up day if I want but I'm not a big fruit eater. I do love a good glass (or two) of Pinot Noir. I've been making low carb treats to enjoy on higher calorie days. I doubt that I ever get to 100g but I can if I want.

Yesterday was good! I did my 45 minutes of home-bike walked a lot at work. I had leftover cauli mac and cheese and cooked ground sirloin for breakfast. After work I had a delicious mug of soup made from leftover veggies and chicken broth all whirred together in my food processor. For Dinner I had Carnitas, and refried beans (no tortillas) and Pinot Noir. My Cheesecake bites for dessert.

DD today. Thinking about skipping breakfast but it's only 5:30 a.m. so I could get hungry before work. LC toast and eggbeaters if I do eat. Salad for dinner. No surprises on the DD.

45 minutes on the Home-Bike before work.

Okay, I ate breakfast, exactly as planned. Rode my bike. I am feeling sore this morning and I'm thinking of popping a couple Ibuprophen before I head out the door. I think it's a combo of work and bike.

I bought a ready-made Southwestern Chop Salad with creamy Cilantro dressing. It's basically chopped cabbage, green onions and cilanto. It also comes with a pack of pepitas and tortilla crisps. I pick the tortillas out. Anyway, I think I'm having that for dinner instead of chicken and romaine. The calorie count is about the same, subbing in the full fat dressing for the chicken. Or maybe I could mix the dressing with a little Walden Farms....

I need to buy eggs today so I can continue on my Low Carb bake-quest. Still looking for the perfect pizza crust. I have a few to try out.

Man I got up to early. I have to work in an hour and I'm ready to go back to bed! More coffee?

Wow, carrots...beans!!! can't tell you how long it's been since I've even thought about those! That is such a wild concept to me...something I haven't thought of in years! So basically you're eating really lc basically...carbs are supposed to just come from veggies on a lc plan..or Atkin's anyways... I buy sunflower seeds by the pound they're my go-to-snacky-snack..mainly cause it keeps my mitts out of other things I could get in trouble with...

Ugh, I adore rice but I can't eat it. It literally looks like there's a beach ball hiding under my shirt. I look about 20 months preggers... I love it though and that is one thing I really do miss. I had corn on the cobb last night for the first time in years last night..

I LOVE fruit! Honeycrisp apples, oranges, strawberries, watermelon..... Another concept that I'm going to have to tread very lightly with. It's nice to know that it's not *off limits* if I truly want something.

The main idea, the way this is written, is that nothing is off limits, correct?? How did this turn into something that is so popular with a lc lifestyle?

Have a great day at work!! Thanks for being my sounding board and being patient with me.

Yes, all of those great things including fruit. Did I mention tomatoes and tomato sauce? Oh yeah girl, I eat all those things. Nothing is forbidden on your up day, but try to eat healthfully. Very interesting....your body's response to rice sounds like my body's response to wheat! I think low carb works really well with JUDDD especially if you are diabetic or have other sugar issues. It can be done pretty much the way you want. I feel that with low carb I'm eating so much better and not relying on junk food which is easy to do with JUDDD. My hunger is more controlled with LC. It's adaptable to your likes and that's what makes it so "doable". I am not a dietician so I have no credentials to back me up on this, just experience, eating my way. Soon you'll have experience eating your way. I'm excited for you!

Danielle, Juddd is really much less about what you can't have and more about what you CAN have! Everything! Even sugar, if you lean that way.

I made a promise to myself that I would not introduce sugar, except for birthdays and Thanksgiving, until I reach goal. I am very carb sensitive and even though I know that it is very acceptable, I just want to steer clear for now.

Great to have you join the JUDDD brigade!

Almond Butter Bread

1 cup almond butter
3 eggs
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 packet stevia (optional)

Blend almond butter and eggs until smooth. Add in remaining ingredients. Pour into a sprayed 8 1/2" by 4 1/2" loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Let cool before slicing. Can also be baked in muffin tins for slider buns.

I took this from the low carb thread entitled Almond Butter Bread. I'm making it with peanut butter since I don't have almond butter at the moment. I'll let you know!

Definitely figuring I need to reign in the sugar, starch, etc.. I tend to get hungrier if I eat them more than a couple consecutive days.. Maaaaan, tomatos.... I LOVE tomatos and could eat those suckers every day but I can't I actually think I'm allergic..I get terrible joint pain, expecially in my hands and toes. I can do it evveeerrrry once in a while and be ok, but I have to stay away from them, peppers too the same way.

Oh! Also, I'd be lyin if I said the 500 cals or less isn't freakin me out alittle bit....tried to do hcg with the 500 cal thing...OMG, I thought I was miserable! Praying that the idea of *knowing* I have an UD around the corner eases that anxiety of potentially feeling hungry on DD. Pray for me girls!

Sunday~ Thank you!!! The concept of the plan is so different than anything I've done before, but I'm excited!

It sounds as if you have a "nightshades" allergy. Google the list of nightshade plants. People who suffer from arthritis have to avoid them to get relief. Tomatoes top the list!

You can start with higher down days on JUDDD until you get used to eating less. It is amazing what happens to your appetite, though.

A lot of people find that pterostilbene help with appetite suppression. There is quite a lot of info on the JUDDD thread. You can get the pills at a health food store or on line.

I had pondered this possibility. Glad to know that it wasn't just me being neurotic..... some more.....

I am SO intrigued by the idea of appetite suppression happening even with UD's! This is such a foreign concept to me without being completely a thousand-and-one-percent low carb!

Thanks Seabreezes! I better check that list out...I have arthritis in my hands and hips. Not eating wheat has helped a lot but I didn't know nightshades were a problem with arthritis. I do eat a lot of tomato products.

Danielle, no doubt Low Carb helps keep the appetite under control. My test for real hunger is "Am I hungry enough to eat salad and a protein? If not, then I'm not hungry, I'm just noshy. I have really begun to love the "belly to the backbone" feeling I get the morning after a down day.

DD today, no work, going to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a muffin top pan, or a donut pan (to make almond bagels or almond muffin tops). I saw some beautiful food on The Almond Bread Thread. I wanna try it too. Not something I'll make all the time, the calorie count is pretty darn high, but it's nice to have a "treat" to make that I can indulge in too. I'll try to make a link back to here.

I feel really good today, so in control. I'm thinking my "no wheat" plan is panning out well. I need to keep it in the forefront of my mind as a "poison" to me. A true trigger that is dangerous to my quest for weight loss and better health.

This is the thread I mentioned. Man it's gonna be a long day. I've been up since 4 am. DH had to be to work extra early and I'm freezing in the house. It's Santa Ana (devil winds) time here in SoCal and the high today is supposed to be 90 degrees but it's 66 degrees inside my house! Brrrrr. I must be some kind of tropical flower that only thrives in 72 degrees.

Yeah, I had suffered from TONS of pain in my toes and hands for such a long time but could never figure out why, really.. started doing some reading about nightshades and decided to experiment. I had been eating tons of tomatoes, peppers, even pepperonchini's..Lord have mercy how I LOVE those! I quit all of them immediately and by the following day I had zero pain in my hands or toes. Nada. Evvveeerrrry now & then I'll have something, like the pizza we had with DS last Sunday, and last night I had 2 slices of tomato...and I do okay.. I just cant eat them all day long in wild combo's anymore like I was. I miss having that stuff!! But, the tradeoff for less/no pain in my joints is worth it!

That bread looks very dense. It DOES look really yummy though and I would love something that I can make for my girls that tastes like good bread instead of them having "regular" bread.. can't wait to hear how it turns out!!

Such great news that you are feeling so good. I love that feeling of control! Love the questions for real hunger, I need to remember that!

Yeah Danielle, your "go to" hunger question should be about a food that you love when you're eating well. Mine is salad & protein. Someone else's might be boiled eggs or tuna salad or even oatmeal. Pick something that satisfies you and use that as your hunger-meter.

The peanut butter bread I made is really yummy. It has a whole cup of PB and you only get a few thin slices out of it, ergo the high calorie count. I keep looking for a substitute but my real hope is that after time I won't care about a bread substitute. Bottom line, there ain't nothin' I can make that will replace wheat bread except...wheat bread. So I'm SOL. I'm excited to experiment more with the PB bread though, maybe add some almond flour to it and try it out in a "muffin top" pan. I also have a recipe for no-bake PB cheese cake using Knox gelatin, cream cheese, Splenda and PB. IDK. I think I'm just trying to stay busy here and convince myself that there is life after wheat.

There IS life after wheat, I Promise!! Seriously, we are more than that, right? Feeling good and getting great health back is worth it...besides, why do we want something that is always so nasty and mean to us? Gotta think of it like that dumb ole guy we kicked to the curb awhile ago because he just doesn't cut it any longer.

Danielle I can only hope.

One thing I have noticed the last couple of days: The whites of my eyes are clear and white. I had actually given up the thought of clear eyes, to aging, but I guess it was something else altogether.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

I absolutely love clear white eyes. That is great to know!

Danielle, I survived the first month of JUDDD by immersing myself in these two threads... Down Days recipes ONLY and this...

I also gave myself the incentive/motivation to keep going by reading the success stories of JUDDD which are many, but two of our latest & greatest~
Before and during

Today marks 10 months on JUDDD!

And...
intermittent fasting, paleo diet, weight loss, cross fit

And Laurie's (Redhead) links at the bottom of her post will show you the amazing changes she made as well as her hubby...

Sunday, thank you for posting such great links! I subscribe to a few of them.

Great weekend, over too soon. We hardly worked at all. Took a three hour cruise in the Z-Car, just me and my Hubby. After last week's dog sitting chores it was so nice to be out and about and alone.

DD today. So far, LC Bread, FF cheese slice, salsa and eggbeaters. Plus coffee.
45 minutes on the home-bike. Yay! Off to work in a little while, to serve up soup and salad to the fine people of East County. I would rather play hooky but I won't. I would say my life is boring right now, but then I might get more excitement than I want....superstitious much?

Hey lady, glad you had such a great weekend!! The drive with hubby sounds absolutely lovely!!

DD's abound! Going into my first one right now. I'm askeered!
The bread you eat is the one from Julian Bakery, isn't it? I haven't found any here, may have to consider ordering some.

One thing I haven't quite wrapped my head around is using anything low-fat or fat-free. It has been a looooooooonnnnnngggg time, not even joking. But, I guess if I want more bang I gotta get used to it, no?

Great job on the biking. I'm going to start pricing one out and see about getting it here asap...I think I'd be more prone to hop on that thing during the day here while I'm alone and get some exercise outta the way.

Sunday, thank you for taking the time to post those links! That will help immensely.

Dani! Yay for your first down day! AND remember~ If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Words to JUDDD by. Don't be afraid, you will not starve, I promise. As for low fat and fat free, that's what you'll need to do if you want to keep calories low on the DD. I actually LOVE FF cottage cheese with salsa. I tend to eat bulky things like humongous salads with lettuce and cabbage. They really help fill me up. Good luck, you can do this!

Reading a little bit more every day and I see just how amazing this plan is. I'm only bummed for a second to ponder where I'd be had I done *this* starting in May instead. At any rate, I'm here now and that's all that matters!!!

Hope you had a great day!

DANI~I'm so happy that you did so well on your first down day! 600 is awesome! I had a great one too and went to bed pretty darn hungry, but I love the empty feeling after a down day.

I feel so much better, being off the wheat products and after so many weeks of not losing... I'm losing again. I haven't gotten on the scale since my last weigh in because I know that how my body looks and feels does not necessarily reflect on the scale. I truly believe that quitting smoking threw me off for a long time. I couldn't lose no matter what I did. It's been over three months since I quit and I feel that I'm finally back to where I was before I ever started smoking again. In control and really happy with my progress.

Up day today. Work day. 45 minutes on the home-bike.

I'm planning a little birthday party for DH on Friday night, just the immediate family and of course the grandgirls. I'm making my signature chili which I will eat and corn muffins, and tortilla chips which I won't eat. Also making a birthday cake and I'm kicking around the idea of also making a low carb cake since I'm not planning on eating the German chocolate cake that DH requests every year. Wheat. Right. I have a recipe for almond flour cake, and buttercream cheese frosting. Why not?

Hey my lady friends! Halloween was good! I had a major slip-up. No I didn't eat wheat, I ate candy! I have to say that yesterday I felt ILL with a capital sick. I feel great today though! I ate almost zero carb yesterday and by bedtime I was feeling much better. I'm back on the straight and narrow for sure.

I baked two cakes yesterday, cooled and wrapped to be frosted today for the party tonight. German chocolate for DH and Vanilla/Chocolate for DSIL. Tonight's menu is Home made Chili. I will make a treat for myself, maybe the GF/SF cheese cake. Looking forward to having the FAM over.

I haven't yet decided if I'm going to make a separate pot of chili for me, sans beans. I know that beans are okay once in a while but after yesterday I have no desire to go down the wrong road again.

Back on track that's all that matter
Surprisingly I have been a good girl with candy. I have shocked even myself! I had 2 bites of a Butterfinger's yesterday and then decided I didn't really like it. Reese's may be an issue, however. We bought no candy which is a huge blessing for me. DD18 has candy from trick or treating, and DH got some from his boss yesterday.. its not tempted me whatsoever. Running with this thought process and enjoying every second!

Enjoy the family, sounds like alot of fun!!

Hi Friends! Just checking in so you won't worry. Doing great, still following lowcarb eating with JUDDD. You know I don't weigh very often, it throws me but I feel really good. DH's Chili Party was fab, I must have made 12 quarts of chili and all that was left was a good sized bowl for DH the next day. I still have a lot of leftover cake but the grandgirls are coming in a little while and I know they'll finish the pink and white one.. Dh is very territorial over his german chocolate cake and won't want to share I'm sure.

It's hot hot hot today! Weird but definitely Southern California. Hope your weekend's going well.

Hey Dani! I'm glad you're doing so well!

My week has been crap but not the eating part. I am in a huge fight with my former TRASH collection agency and they are driving me bonkers! They're trying to charge me for canceling them! I have written letters to my new trash company, the BBB, and anyone who will listen in the old company. I finally got a copy of my contract (that I signed 7 years ago with a different company). It states that I can be charged two times my monthly rate ($58.50) as liquidated damages, for not fulfilling the initial term of the contract. Initial being the operative word. That was fulfilled in June of 2007. They are telling me that the contract "rolls over" and all terms apply. I beg to differ and I'm telling you it's gonna be WAR if they try to make me pay this! They threatened me with collections and the bill was only dated October 30! I'm so mad I could spit nails. I know that's not a lot of money but it really is the principle at this point. I think they are way off base and I'm wondering how many poor schmucks just paid the bill without reading their contracts? The person I spoke to (and argued with) before I got a copy of my contract said "I know what I'm talking about, I do this every day". I said "I'll bet you do". Argh! Anytime something like this happens I wish that I had gone to law school. How do people cope when they have no real say in what's happening to them? When they aren't sure? Do I pay the bill, or spend money on an attorney? And if I pay the bill...aren't they just getting away with robbery? I'm such a mellow person normally but this has got me wound up tighter than a....a...I don't know the analogy. I'm just P O'd.

OMG! I cannot believe what's going on! Sounds like our arguement going on with the cable company. Our bill went up $25 a month...for BASIC channels with no notice. For the life of me I CANNOT recall ever being notified that this was going to happen. They are ridiculous to deal with on any given day, ie. problems with outtages, troubleshooting, etc... so this has been lotsa fun...not! Feeling your pain, girlfriend!!

And yeah, I'm sure these companies count on everyone just paying the bills and not looking to see what they're paying for! Makes me so mad!
