Pizza and wine would make me feel the next day for sure. Good to hear that LCing made you feel better. Why is the book Wheat Belly scary, because how bad wheat is to our bodies? I heard that the wheat we consume today is not the kind people of so long ago consumed? Have a good work day Blondie!

Yes Maggie, it does talk about how hybridized wheat has become over the last 50 years. The scary part is how many things that wheat has been connected to: rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, dementia to name a few. I've always known that I have a wheat addiction, this book proves it. I was looking for a reason to really give it up, now I have several reasons. It's definitely hard to even think about certain foods that are no longer available to me, however I've been eating them for 56 years so maybe I've had enough of them anyway. The book has some amazing recipes in the back that are gluten and sugar free. I'm looking forward to trying them. I think Jan has little ones with gluten issues, so she probably knows a lot about baking GF.

The LCing didn't really cure me of my hangover, I was just really happy not to have gone off on a binge afterword. That's what usually happens when I LC and then fall off the wagon. Sometimes its pounds and pounds before I come to my senses. The LC has gotten my appetite under control. I'm still trying to make myself strong enough to JUDDD. I wanted to give it two weeks originally and I think I'll stick to that plan. Afterword I'll continue to eat LC on DD's and maybe add in a few more good carbs on up days. We'll see. The thing I don't want is to have a rebound/relapse.

Today I'm having a mushroom omelet w/ microwave-bacon.

Wow, Blondie! I really need to read that book. I know I have gluten intolerances but in my mind in denial but my body certainly tells me it is a problem for me. Hubby has been told that he has Rheumatoid Arthiritis and has some tests his doctor needs to run but they told him that he has quite a bit of inflamation in his body. I have been speaking to him about his consumption of wheat but unless he hears it from his doctor he will keep ingesting it. I guess we change when we see that we truly NEED to change and are ready for it. He is finishing up the last of the whole grain cereal and bread so we shall see. I have been reading more labels of products and their is wheat gluten in about almost everything. I will need to work harder to change this in my life IF I want to live a more productive life for myself and family, it really shouldn't be a sacrifice - Food or Self & Family, it should be a no brainer.

Have a nice day!

Maggie I believe you do need to read this book. Inflammation is the key and wheat causes inflammation everywhere. Don't be surprised if hubby's Doc disagrees. Just remember (to para-phrase Wheat Belly) Once it was thought that margarine was much better for us than butter. Once it was thought that high fructose corn syrup was good, better than sugar. We know differently. I too am a little worried about wheat being so insidious. It's in almost everything. This means eating very plain and simply when I'm out to dinner and learning to make yummy stuff at home. I can do that. I've been eating badly for years. It's time to change. Borrow it or check your library, maybe they will order it for you. I got my copy (at your mention of Wheat Belly) from Amazon.com. I saved a bundle. Now I get to be the weirdo who eats every other day and doesn't eat wheat...great.

Thank you Mags. By regular standards I may be a weirdo, but what's regular?

Watched the Biggest Loser last night. I don't typically follow it so it was stunning to see the changes that the contestants made over, what, 7 months? Amazing. I don't know if I could ever work as hard as they do. It is very encouraging to see people bounce back after having lost sooo many pounds and inches.

Still LCing....admittedly I'm getting a little bored with it. I think I need to broaden my horizons somewhat. The key is, if I'm bored I'm not really hungry so don't eat if I'm not hungry, right? I'm looking forward to re-starting JUDDD, I haven't got a set date yet....maybe next week, maybe the week after. When I do... I want to stay wheat free. One of the things I've noticed lately is that I haven't had any headaches. LC? No Wheat? I also had this happen with JUDDD I think. Something that I've eliminated was causing problems. AND~I haven't had any diet coke in a few days. I got one on Monday at work, took a couple of sips and traded it out for plain Iced Tea. It's been coffee or tea for me since then.

Can one live on salad and protein?

A friend of mine did and he lost tons of weight. Well, he didn't weigh a a few tons. He did lose though and looked great, couldn't even recognize him. When I asked him what he did he said he just ate mostly chicken and salads. I do not think he even exercised. I guess one can lose weight as long as we stick with something long enough.

Well howdy!

Just a quick check in to see how you are doing! Seems like everything is going okay? Pizza and wine......yum! LOL! I have some wine I got this last weekend and need to open a bottle soon.

I am JUDDDing along - kind of idling in place but I'm good with that. And I took your advice and did not lower my calories. I'm going to hold out a bit longer and see if I don't start losing again. Honestly, between UD and DD my calorie average is 1350. I don't want to go too much lower! But we shall see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Maggie, I think Salad + protein + fat = major ketosis. I could actually do it for awhile, but I don't know how long. Years ago I was very skinny after a (old) Atkins stint. I think I went from 140 to about (who am I kidding, I know exactly how much) 117. I drank tons of water and ate a big hamburger patty with mayonnaise and an iceberg lettuce salad with cheese, for lunch/dinner everyday. I usually didn't eat breakfast at all. I had a rule that if I didn't eat by 5 pm, I didn't eat at all. How strict is that? I may have crossed over into anorexic territory but I eventually began to eat more often. I weighed 117 for about a nanosecond then stabilized around 125 for a long time. My first BIG weight gain came with my first pregnancy, when I learned to cook, bake and eat my mistakes.

Laura ~ I think it's good you're gonna hold off on dropping your calories. Enjoy your up days and follow your DD's with a vengeance, you'll start losing again.

Next week on Wednesday, the hubs and I are going away for two nights to be alone and have some fun. I'm trying to decide if I should JUDDD next week or if it would be better to LC and then start JUDDD on Monday the14th. What do you think? I would have a DD on WED and again on Friday. Arrgh...maybe I better stick with LC, at least I can eat something.

Hope you girls had an amazing day! I'm home from work and am now on to domestic duties.

I'm here. Good Morning all~

Despite the fact that I no longer have periods, I still strangely have bouts of irritability much like PMS....perhaps it is PMS (post menopause syndrome). I also have connected my "heightened" hot flashes with the probability of the missing cycle "time". My own personal sauna. And I have occasional cramps that I likened to imploding ovaries...I know this stuff isn't interesting but may explain why I want carbs real bad this morning. I've had a small beef patty and an egg cooked in coconut oil. 2 cups of coffee. I don't even like pancakes, but I want one (or five). With syrup and butter. Okay, now that I've said it out loud it should float away and leave me in peace. I can see right now that I'm going to have to stay very very busy today.

I went back to page one of my journal and saw my remarks of 2010. Most of the year wheat free and low carb and losing and gaining the same 10 pounds over and over. HELLO!! McFly!! I am getting back to JUDDD and I'm going to lose another 40 pounds this year. I better hurry up.

Are all of these months with my journal finally going to tell me something? You bet. I will continue LC through the weekend and start Monday on JUDDD. My plan is to have a couple of medium days while I'm on vacation and right back to JUDDD on Saturday/Sunday. I know this works, I've done it. I can do it again.

Welcome back to the fold!!!

You know you are a JUDDD superstar! And I KNOW you can do it again!

I think I am on the verge of making some progress! I was down .2 after an UD and I'm just chomping at the bit to see what the scale says after today's DD. I am not greedy, mind you. A pound would send me to the moon! More than that and I just might faint!

It will be so great to get away with your husband. Mine is coming in this weekend and I am ready to see him.

Hello Monday morning girls! I'm doing fantastic! I finished my first DD on my official restart of JUDDD. No problema. I was right about the LC getting my food cravings under control. I had a 110 calorie shake (LC Advantage) for breakfast, ate my "dinner" at 3:30. I was pretty hungry after work so I decided not to wait. I had a chicken salad (the usual DD salad). Last night I had a cup of Good Earth tea about 8:00 when I was feeling a bit hungry and then went to bed.

I feel really good and positive today. My plan is to stick to lower carb on my UD's but have some of the things I love like LC bread, LC ice cream (if I want), nuts and higher carb veggies like butternut or acorn squash, a small potato, sweet potato, etc. I still want to limit grains to occasional rice. Sugar is not my friend. I had coffee with HWC & splenda this morning. I bought some FF halfnhalf for down mornings.

I wanted to change my wording for myself, because "down day" sounds kinda negative to me, so I'm calling DD's my "500 day" when I'm talking to others about this plan. It's self explanatory, right?

Tomorrow DH and I will be heading out for much needed R&R so I won't be checking in here until Friday night or Saturday morning. DH says he has a surprise for our 35th anniversary next month. We've been looking at used two seater sports cars (he's selling his bike). Maybe this is the week we'll actually stop looking and get one!

I love the 500 day! I'd really love a 5000 day but I won't go there! I will have to think of a name for my DD.

How about "Why Does Every Food I See Look So Good to Me Day?" or "I'm Gonna Gnaw My Arm Off Day."

I kid. But you know some of those DDs are tough!

Hope you and hubby have some fun. For some reason I thought it was last weekend. The sports car sounds FUN! I am trying to talk my husband into selling his motorcycle so we can buy a little travel trailer. He's not budging.

Doing a quick Saturday check in!

I've had a blast the last few days. Food wasn't too much of a problem. Wed started out as a down day with 100 calories and ended up a medium day with about 900-1000 calories, but that's okay because I planned it that way. Thursday was an up day and definitely not an up up and away day. Yesterday was another up day (so two in a row). DD or 500 day today and going well. I have a plan to finish the day under or right at 500 calories.

So much has happened! We went to a casino/hotel ~ Harrah's Rincon in Valley Center which is still San Diego County. We barely hit the casino at all because when we weren't at the pool (heavenly) or at the jacuzzi (sigh) or sleeping in a giant bed with air conditioning and total quiet (bliss) we were out driving our new (to us) Silver 2004 Nissan 350Z, top down and cruising through the mountains of SD County. Black leather interior, power everything, so much fun and I can't believe it's ours! We ran it around and the the you-know-what out of it, and it ran like a dream. So stoked!

Of course back to reality. Littlest Granddaughter has stomach flu and all the accoutrements that come with it. DD and SIL are grouchy. They lost their parking space in the driveway to the Z. Other than that, I'm happy as a clam!

Hope you're doing well my friends!

Your time away sounds wonderful!!!!! And congrats on the new car!!

We bought my son a 2005 350Z convertible that is silver, too! It is one hot little car!

Sorry about your granddaughter being ill. Hope it isn't catching. And the Z deserves a place of honor in that driveway!

Happy Mother's Day!

AND a very good morning to you!

Well, the other DGD is barfing and I'm babysitting. On the bright side I had a great weekend and a fabulous down day yesterday AND I dropped 2 pounds in the process. I've known for a long time that I'm a slooow loser so I'll take anything I can get.

Still rapturous over the Z car. Oh man, I'm in love. It's something I've wanted my whole driving life (a convertible anything). It's no piece of cake getting in and out of it. I now know why all those little Hollywood glamor girls end up in the tabloids with their panties (or none) showing! So... no high heels or dresses while riding in the Z!

I went around to visit my friends before checking in here this morning and I'm so grateful to be able to do so. Trying to lose weight is such a personal and lonely thing, I appreciate my cyber-buddies so much!

Laura, does your son still have the car? Do you ever drive it? What a generous gift!

Christine it is the BOMB cruising in the car!

Maggie, Sounds like your making great progress with HCG!

Happy Belated Mother's Day to you all!!!

Up day today. It wil NOT be an up up and away day.

WTG Blonde on the 2 lb. loss. HCG Protocol was going fine for me until MIL questioned me. I'm over it, on to bigger and better things. Your car sounds awesome, glad you are enjoying it.

Have a nice UP but to UP. UP and away!

Hi Blonde!

Congrats on the two pounds! Hope everyone in your house has stopped the barfing! LOL!

Yes, my son still has his cute little car. It was his high school graduation gift last year. We had bought my daughter a car when she graduated in 2008, so felt it fair to do the same for him. Thank goodness we only have two kids! But we make both of them pay half of their car payments so they bear some responsibility.

Am glad you are enjoying yours. It is such a sharp little car to see coming down the street. And yes, hard to get in and out of. I don't look very elegant at all. I also feel like I'm sitting in the street. I drive a Trailblazer so I'm used to being up a lot higher.

Hey ladies!

It's been a busy week, I've dealt with some personal issues (my smoking) like... I had a relapse but I'm back in control. Just a few days of having a puff here and a cigarette there...it would take no time at all to be in full blown addiction again. I have my addiction in check (again) and will have to be diligent (again) to avoid a medical emergency on my part. This is the most difficult thing to control. It makes it harder because the people around me (my people) won't quit smoking. I'm faced with it every single day....

Lots coming up this weekend...I have a 50th B-day party to attend, thank goodness for up days. It will be nice to go and not worry about food or drinks (just cigarettes).
