A's VSG Journey

Well, here I go...again with this journal thing. I have done it in the past, and I love being able to go back and read them. I am not new to LCF but, I am now embarking on a new journey. I have decided to have WLS, specifically the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I was actually scheduled to have have lapband last year and chickened out for a variety of reasons. The main reason was I just didn't feel comfortable with that decision. I began reading of the journeys of a couple ladies here at LCF who had VSG and researched it quite a bit.
I have gone through all the steps required by my surgeon and by my insurance to be approved for this surgery. (3 dietician visits, physical therapy, and psych eval). Next week I go in for the preop visit and will schedule surgery at that point. I am planning to get back on LC NOW before surgery b/c I know it will help me lose a few lbs before surgery + shrink the liver which will help my surgeon. I am looking forward to 2011 and the changes that will come with this life changing surgery. I have been fighting my weight HALF of my life (I am 30) and I am just tired. I want to be healthy for my boys and for myself! I just want to accomplish this and feel like I can accomplish anything! Today so far, I have had:

EAS shake (17 gm protein)-My daily requirement is 60 btw.
My preop vitamins
Water (16oz)-I need to work on this...daily!

I also started taking 5-HTP again, it helps me out tremendously as long as my dreams don't get too intense! For a while, I had to quit taking them b/c my dreams were just too real and I would wake up in a panic...

I am also trying to use my cpap...my doc is a stickler for this...I absolutely hate it, but know I need to use it.

B-EAS Shake
L-Salad
D-? some form of meat/veggie...going to my work party tonight..may have a diet coke and rum or something...

I'm really tired and glad today is Friday and I can get lots of rest this weekend.

You should def try it! You don't taste the pumpkin at all...you really taste the sausage more than anything.

B-Protein shake (27+8=35g protein) (protein powder, milk, dash of half n half and sf french vanilla syrup)
L-pumpkin soup
D-Taco salad possibly? I made up a batch of ground beef for this week...not totally sure what I will do with it.

Today is my "preop" visit...suppose to schedule surgery...a little nervous, but ready to finally have a date!

Grrr...no shake today-totally forgot it this morning

All I have had so far is water...which is BAD..I have a bad habit of NOT eating on a reg basis and then pigging out b/c I am so hungry. Gotta do better than that!

Thanks JGW! I remembered my shake today...but I just grabbed a premade EAS...

It has 17 grams of protein..I figure that I will try to use these after surgery b/c they are thinner than the other ones and I might be able to choke it down. I am really dreading the hair loss issue I have thick hair, but after I had my first son-I lost a TON of hair. Everyone was laughing at me, because I have so much hair and to be complaining...But, its just what I am use to! I have gotten it grown out and am happy w/it right now. Oh well.

I can't believe surgery is 3 weeks from today!!! Not only that, but Christmas is less than 3 weeks away...Wow! I am about 60% done w/my shopping. I need to finish our tree (bad mom! lol). I am feeling like I need to do a lot around the house to get prepared for surgery. My mom and BFF (who lives next door btw) will be helping me and I want everything organized.

I will check back in later, have a good day everyone!

Good Morning!

Well, I did zumba last night for 30 minutes and did 25 on the treadmill this morning. I am pretty pleased w/that...just gotta keep it up!

Just finished my shake and drinking water. Took my vitamins...tomorrow is my preop class! Yipppeeeee.

I had a rough weekend. Found out my ex is having another baby (this makes 5 for him) I really shouldn't care...but I just feel that he is not being a good dad to the kids he already has and its not fair to my son. But, of course-there is NOTHING I can do about this. It just hurts b/c of all the drama that has gone on w/us for the last 10 years. (Cheated on me, married her, had a baby and now another) But, I am looking forward to my surgery and all the changes for 2011. I really want to get married in the next couple years and I hope maybe, just maybe 2011 will be my year I just want to be kind to myself, take good care of ME and I feel everything will fall into place. I know that I have been holding on to something that I shouldn't, and in order to move on...I have to work on ME. I have been reading a lot on getting past your past ..its really really helpful and I wish I had known about it years ago!

Anyhow, I will check in later

Hi there Angel....Stay strong...remember that you had nothing to do with your ex's decisions....it was all him and it seems he has some (a lot) of problems of his own.....not the ones we can see (children etc) but some internal issues he need to deal with himself......we as women always (most of the time) take the blame for everything....I believe there is someone waitng for you who was specially designed for you....just believe and before you know it he will be there....
You are special person....

Thank you Janice! You are sooo right, he does have issues! Major ones. I do believe but the waiting is super hard. I know I need to focus on other things and things will work out.

Morning! I can't believe how fast time is moving. I have LOTS to do this weekend...Finish Christmas stuff up, get house organized b/c not only do I have Christmas but I also have SURGERY in less than 2 weeks.

Yesterday, I went to my prep class and basically we have to start our 14 day diet TODAY.

B-Shake
S-Protein bar (pretty nasty yuck!) but it had 19 g of protein
L-Brc n cheese and not sure what meat...

Will try to check back in later

Just for my reference...I am suppose to have:

BF-Meal replacement shake
S-Bar,crisps, or special k protein drink (not shake)
L-1/2 meal replacement,2-4 oz protein, 1/2 cup steamed veggies or 1 cup of raw.
S-Same as above
D-same as lunch
S-Same as above (if needed)

B-Shake (40 g protein 27+13)

S-sf jello

L-Greek salad w/no tom or olives and ranch

S-Either a shake or sf pudding

D-Not sure yet...fish or chicken and veggies probably.

Oh yeah, those stupid bars (besides being nasty!) are full of sugar alcohols and upset my tummy...boo on them. LOL I think I will probably keep em on hand for emergencys but only eat half of one.

Did well today..shake for bfast..I made my fam pancakes, bacon, and eggs. I had a couple pieces of bacon, a small amount of eggs and a teeny tiny pancake (probably the size of my palm)...been busy cleaning and laundry...we had pork chops(crockpot), peas, and they had rice and gravy. I'm having a splendid decaf cofee now. Its wonderful
