VegeLover's Journal

If I can do it today, I can do it tomorrow!

That saying hit me one day when I was feeling like such a failure. I was thinking I couldn't commit to anything. And then God started to show me all the things I have committed to in my life. Some things gradually and some things all of a sudden. And I realized that one day is all it takes to make progress. If I can do it today then I can do it again tomorrow. If I can follow a diet plan today, then I can follow it again the next day.

So, I started the Atkins Diet (for the ? time) on Sunday, November 7, 2010 determined to make it work. I read and hear about weight loss success stories all the time in books, magazines, message boards, and real life. I can be a success story too.

My progress will be reported here.

My beginning weight: 177.4
My goal: a comfortable size 6

Why a size 6? Because it is the size I felt most comfortable with in my adult life and I would love for my husband to see me at that size. I think he will really like it

Well my TOM showed up. The lbs I lost came
back (at least according to the scale)

But I did make it through the first
week without cheating. I'm hoping to see
170 by the end of week 2.

I can't give up. I need this to work!

I'm going to start exercising. I want to be toned.

Since I haven't committed to a real workout regime in a while I'll start slow.

Walking 3 days per week; work my way up to 20 minutes at 3.0 on treadmill

I found a great book by Denise Austin "Hit the Spot"

I'll do abs on the 3 days that I walk

I'll do upper and lower 2 days per week.

I'm going to start with small amount of reps and work my way up.

She has great exercises in the book. Wish I could find the DVD.

Day 10 of Induction.
Current Weight: 175.4
Which is where I was Tuesday of last week before my TOM came

I'm holding on though because I need this to work. Now that my pesky TOM is gone I expect to see some real weight loss.

Today I sweetened my tea with sweet n low instead of Truvia and I am finding that I am craving something sweet. Could it be the saccharine? Hmm...I think I'll lay off it for a couple days and try it again to see. In the mean time I think I'll cook a couple slices of bacon to fight the sweet tooth.

Anybody else experience cravings with Sweet n Low?

Day 12 of Induction

Finally bouncing back from last week.

Today I weighed in at 174.0
I think my goal of reaching 170 during the 2 week induction is not going to happen but I plan to stay on extended Induction until I reach my goal weight.

I must admit that thinking about how long it will take me to get to 130lbs is painful ! But seeing the number on the scale go down does help alleviate some of that mental anguish but certainly not all of it.

I made it through Induction. Only lost 3 pounds but I'll take that over 0 pounds. I am going to move on up to rung one by adding in more veggies. I was already eating an extra 2 or 3 carbs in veggies each day anyway.

I made it through Thanksgiving without any problems.
I am traveling so I can't weigh myself. That is kind of good
because it is nice to just eat according to plan
without the scale frustrating me.

I am so happy about how I have embraced this plan
as a lifestyle.

Somehow despite sticking to plan I managed to jump back up to 177 after Thanksgiving travel. Uggh! I think I might give up the scale. I can't take seeing my weight not dropping.
