Amber, I am thinking about heading to EH today! Not sure yet. DH is off too, so we'll see what he wants to do. I was just looking at the weather. 58 all weekend! YAY! Definitely get out if you can!

Just started week three of c25k. Down about five lbs so far, so that's motivating. Looking forward to a beautiful weekend OUTDOORS! I'm so over winter!

on the loss of 5 lbs. Christine. Enjoy the outdoors and your weekend. I got out yesterday for a 2 mile walk with the hubs last night and I tell you I am so over winter myself! Keep up the good work.

Hey girfriend! Enjoy the great weather. I'm over winter as well. Rain all weekend here, but when it stops for the season we get NO rain for months at a time, so I'm loving the rain right now. Great job on your weight loss...throw a little whoosh my way, would ya?

Morning, ladies! Hope you're all doing well. Haven't had much time to post lately. Had some very poor nutritional days, but onward.

Question: Does anyone have the nutribullet? I'm considering picking one up. I love my Ninja, but it's mostly helpful for cooking. It doesn't pulverize seeds for a smoothie, and I think both DH and I would be well served by incorporating green smoothies into our lives (I had to stop drinking them because the ninja wasn't doing the job the way I like). If you have any feedback, I'd love to hear it.

DH, btw, is down several pounds after finally getting serious.

Hi Christine!

I can highly recommend The Health Master (because I have one). Not cheap but not nearly as expensive as the Vita Mix. You could easily make smoothies with greens and whole veg or fruits, nuts etc. Loved mine. I guess I should get it out and dust it off. I put it away when the DD's family moved in last year.

Darn husbands! We work and work and they drop the weight in a flash. Congrats to him (and you for your guidance).

Spent the day at the aquarium with DS. Great fun, and I managed to avoid the ice cream, pizza, and fried foods for a change! Made amazing wings tonight, and the best jalapeno poppers EVER!! One g carbs each:

Cut and clean jalapenos (in half; be careful)
Use whipped cream cheese (about 1/2 container), and season it as you wish (for me it was garlic powder, parsley flakes, garlic salt)
One slice bacon per jalapeno half

Fill halves with cream cheese, wrap with bacon, and bake at 400 until bacon is crispy. DELICIOUS!

Oh gosh that sounds amazing! Have you ever tried bacon wrapped, whole water chestnuts? Mmmmm!

I love the aquarium here. It's so peaceful and calming. We have a beautiful octopus there that swims back and forth, changing colors with the rocks and stuff as he goes. It's almost like he knows your watching.

I haven't tried the water chestnuts, Blonde! I'll keep that in mind! Love the color-changing octopus! Sounds very relaxing.

Great nutritional weekend for a change. Hoping it's the dawn of a new day. Ended up buying the nutribulet this weekend and I love it! I had much better luck when I incorporated a shake or two into my day and limited my eating window to about 8 hours, so I'm going to see how that goes this time around. Even DH wants to add a shake. <-- that's me in shock

Running is still going well. I finished up week four of the program yesterday, despite the fact that everything that could have gone wrong in that run did go wrong, including snow blowing down from the trees and into my face, but WHATEVER. It's done, and now I'm moving on to the hardcore part of the program (20 minutes of straight running by the end of the week! ). We'll see how that goes.

I need to do a better job in the weight room. I walked out halfway through two workouts last week. I blame TOM. I do, though.

Happy Monday! Every day is a step closer to SPRING!!!!

Hey hun, thinking of you, my life is sort of in turmoil right now, but with all this I discovered the hospital diet makes you lose weight, consuming nothing but 200 ounces of coffee to sit in the hospital and cry makes you lose 5 pounds in 3 days!!! LOL Keep running for me, I have not run since last Tuesday!

Tom should be the blame for everything or men in general. You are doing great Christine with all the running. Hubby must like the new nutribullet to want a shake when he doesn't usually have one now you can share with him. Keep up the good work!

Maggie.... Agreed!!!

DH is enjoying his shake in the morning. His is much sweeter than mine; way more fruit, but maybe I can wean him down over time. He's doing very well, overall! Very committed, using the food tracker app, and making a good effort. I'm pleased!!

Winter weather is here again! Kids are on a delay today, which is fine with me! I can enjoy my coffee leisurely instead of choking it down. It means that I won't get into the gym this morning, but that's ok. My arms are killing me from yesterday, so I'll take a day off before my challenging run tomorrow. Actually, tomorrow won't be bad. Later this week will be bad.

Nutrition yesterday was good:
B: Coffee
L: 1/2 shake, a few bites of chicken
D: Salsa eggs, 3 slices bacon

I love salsa! One of the recipes in the nutribullet book is for tomato, jalapeno, avocado, lime, and cilantro (plus a few other things that escape me at the moment). I can't wait for that one! Like a Mexican feast in a cup!

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Christine! Salsa is like a party in your mouth! I eat it on almost everything. It's low carb and low calorie and makes 'average' food into something special. Good luck on your 20 minute run!

Amber, sorry about your Gram. Do take care of yourself, too, okay?

Good morning, ladies! I don't care if it's the same five lbs. I lost last time; seeing a 5 lb. loss in a week is motivating. Hoping to continue the downward trend this time, though!

I'll say this, though: 5k training has seriously affected how I eat. Last night, for example, I was out with friends after work so that we could catch some basketball games. I knew that I wasn't really going to want to eat the crap that was on the menu, and I didn't trust myself to stick with a salad. Therefore, I ate a big, late lunch (salad!), and after work, in the face of beer, wings, and nachos, I drank water. Just water. For three hours. I drank water and wasn't hungry. That's victory, in my book!

Got through my challenging run on Tuesday; now it really ratchets up today and this weekend. By the end of the weekend, I'll have run 20 minutes straight. Hence the reason I am so committed to clean eating. I know I will never be able to do that without the right fuel in my body.

So as much as I hate running, 5k has really kicked my butt into gear.

So glad it's Friday!! No big plans to speak of this weekend. Anyone else??

First off, congrats on the 5k training! It's hard enough worrying about training much less hanging out in a bar for hours with BaR FoOd!

Awesome job with the will power!

Thanks, Rebecca! I managed to get through an afternoon at the bar yesterday as well, also just water! Whew!

Down 6.4lbs altogether in about nine days, which even if it's water weight, helps me feel back in control of things. I changed around my macros a bit, and I think I have goals that fit my preferences and tendencies. I watched my natural eating habits for a few days and saw that I usually come in at about 75% fat, which works for me. I'll aim for that each day.

Lots to do today! Have a good day, everyone!
