Christine 40 is fabulous! And you know what? You may not be skinny but from what you post here about your work-outs, I'd say you are fit. Maybe not where you want to be (yet) but definitely on your way! YES! You're back on track, one day down, and one day to get through before the next. It's a good way to do it!
For me thirty was the worst birthday milestone! |

Thanks, ladies. Blonde, 30 was ok for me, but 31? Not so much! I don't know why "40" is so hard right now. I've always been an "age is just a number" person, so I don't know what the deal is. I need to get in the right head space so that I can do as you all say and make 40 fabulous!! Thanks for your kind words.
I bought pork rinds today for making meatballs, and I am thinking that I might try making nachos out of them. I bet that would work. |

My wish was always to be fit by 40 too, Christine, I feel ya! As you can see I've clearly missed that mark....I've also kinda regressed and act more like a 20yo than my 20yo does
I've had a couple years in the making of working on issues that now I realize have kept me from achieving my goals, including weight loss.. tough work, and kinda scary and exhilerating at the same time. Tough road for sure, especially with the acceptance of either no weight loss or extremely slow. But I'm glad I've done/doing the work because it only serves to make me stronger in the long run. Clearing up the head space will only serve to help you with what your heart desires. Taking that time to work on YOU on the inside will give you so much clarity and strength. Forgive yourself and keep moving forward. You are making more progress than you realize...while it might not necessarily be #'s, but if you can stop and stand still for a little bit and listen, I think you'll see. ![]() |

Age is just a number. I feel so much younger than I am. Losing weight will help, but you need to live now! I spent too many years not because I waited for the weight to drop.....don't waste your youth....yes, your youth! You are still young

Thanks, ladies. I appreciate the perspective! Danielle, yesterday DS was surprised to learn that I'm turning 40. He said he thought I was 22 because I'm "hip and cool." I said that I don't think he knows the real definitions of "hip and cool."
Either that or he's trying to get me to buy him an xbox. ![]() Two days back on the wagon; feeling pretty good. But every day remains a struggle, of course. I doubt that will ever go away. Food yesterday: B: BPC L: Green meanie, a few pieces of smoked gouda D: Meatballs in some red sauce Huge salads on tap for me today; I'll be enjoying both lunch and dinner at the cafeteria. Salad with a side of salad!

Christine, its funny after I typed I was turning 45 I was like holy crap, I am getting older, so I was thinking man I just want to be healthy I dont want to be 70 and unable to walk, really it is about keeping active and staying fit, the scale will always tick us off, 40 is going to be fab!!!!! Everyday will be a battle, I say it everyday when I wake up, let me win this fight today, it is so hard but worth it, I want to be around to be a grandma and see my son get older, so we keep plugging!!!

I hear you!!! I often think about the health ramifications of tomorrow if I don't make good choices today. My own grandmother started using a wheelchair to get around at 45 because she was too tired to walk (also a smoker and heavy Coke drinker!)!!! I cannot imagine. I do not want to be someone who spends the last third of her life wasting away; I always tell DH that I'm going to be the 90 year-old who dies flying down a ski slope or rock climbing with my grandchildren!!! I will not waste away. Keep on plugging is right!!!

Such wonderful insight here
Truth of the matter is, like Kitty says, it's only a number..and kinda like the number on the scale, it does not define me. I am a very different person than I was just a few years ago.. finally let go of things in order to celebrate the life I have NOW. What I love? Is that my kids think DH & I are the "cool" parents..(also happen to be the very youngest )..I love that our kids like to go to concerts with us, to hang out doing anything..these are the things I have come to cherish.. We practice making memories and I love that!Yep, we all keep plodding along.. Together.... |

Tony is so fit and he always says 90% of people in nursing homes are there because they cant lift themselves off the toilet, so although he has always been super thin, he gets the taking care of yourself, that is why he works out and avoids fat and is the fiber king, LOL But you know its true, looks are the least of it, I dont want to need help to do normal activities, I look at my Gram she is 91 she walked everywhere, gave up driving at 55 cause it scared her, she cleaned houses until she was 75, she was active, her diet is pure sugar though, LOL But hey she is 91 that is a darn good life and she is still walking although slow!!! She is a great motivator!

Gram is my hero, Amber!
Pulled something in my neck in the gym, so it hurts to turn my head today. OW! But I went in and did my usual Thursday stuff, anyway. Ugh. Food worked out well yesterday: Two big salads, some processed meats (Bacon! Not great, but tasty!), and BPC. Back to the cafeteria today for another big salad: B: BPC L: Salad D: Roasted chicken, brussel sprouts with cheese sauce Oh, happy VD! ![]() |

Blonde,
![]() Hope everyone is avoiding the 75% off candy sales! Used to be my favorite day of the year! Seriously. Another day on plan yesterday; menu was just as I indicated, and the sprouts were TASTY. Have them leftover for lunch today with some shredded chicken. I am looking forward to it! B: BPC L: Leftovers S: Green meanie, if needed D: Tacos, no shells DS and I are heading to NYC tomorrow, so that should be fun. He has always wanted to go, so we're going to hit he Empire State Building and wax museum, and who knows what else! Maybe that Sony store? I don't know. We'll just play it by ear. I jumped back on the scale today and omg. I cannot believe how fast the weight comes back when I'm not focused. I really need to get it together for the long haul. Sheesh. Enjoy your Friday!!! |

Blonde, I roasted them before I baked them with the cheese sauce, and when they first came out of the roasting phase, I couldn't stop eating them!! Olive oil and sea salt? YUM!
Looking forward to our trip today! I purchased a discount pass that allows us into 70 events! Clearly we won't have time for all of them, but it was worth the price to skip some of the lines since we have only one day in the city. DS is going to love the Empire State Bld. and Top of the Rock. We'll hit the Harry Potter exhibit in Times Square and the Spy Exhibit. Wax Museum, too, of course. I hope we have time for everything. I packed lunch/snacks so that we won't have to waste too much time eating! Though DH and I would probably relish the NYC dining experiences, DS not so much. He'd rather see Harry Potter. ![]() Have a great Saturday! |

Well, I was back on track as of Monday, and then Tuesday came, so there was lots of birthday nonsense; how can I say no to a room full of people with cake and champagne in my honor? So today is officially back on track day. I feel like Amelia Shepherd on "Private Practice" (a show I catch occasionally on Netflix) when she sat at an AA meeting and said that she was humiliated to be on day one (after a decade of sobriety).
But day one is better than "tomorrow will be day one" right? Right. |
