Buffalo chicken was delicious!! It was not that spicy so I added hot sauce, yummy even the boys liked it so that is a keeper for sure!

Bad news about my surgery, I have this darn lump I have to have a drain reinserted not happy and it better not interfere with my exercise!

One day of eating exactly 1800 calories, I realized all the stuff I was shoving in, a bite here and there, weighing with that trainer will be a good thing!

Oh no, Amber! I'm so sorry! I hope it's a quick and easy thing to fix.

1800 calories goes fast!!!

Glad you liked the chicken!

You're welcome, Tanya! Tonight it's stuffed chicken breast, so we'll see how that goes. Workout was pretty good yesterday; walking today. Food for yesterday:

B: Coffee, hwc
S: Coffee, hwc
L: Coffee, hwc (I'm sensing a trend here!), chef salad
D: Nothing

I came in at 684 calories according to the online food tracker, and I wasn't all that hungry. By 930pm, I probably *could* have eaten, but I was going to bed, so that was that.

I am not weighing myself but I did take some measurements, so I hope to see some progress after several weeks of heavy lifting. On Friday, I'll be 3/4 of the way through the first segment of the program (it's 12 weeks, and the each segment is 4 weeks long). It gets progressively more difficult, so we'll see how that goes!

Yesterday was not a great day, btw. It went something like this:

6am: Found out that a colleague's mother died a mere five weeks after a cancer diagnosis
7am: Went outside to see that someone had stolen all four of DH's hubcaps (who DOES that???)
8am: Learned that DH's boss was in the hospital with a slow brain bleed
9am: Learned that a (younger) colleague was cheated upon by her live-in boyfriend

OMG, seriously?!?!? Here's hoping today is better!

Things were definitely better yesterday, thank you!

I'm wondering if coffee is leading to my inability to lose weight right now. I know others have had this problem, so I wonder if I should cut back? Perhaps cutting coffee and increasing fat will help. Yesterday I struggled with fat and ended up with more protein than I wanted.

B: Coffee
L: Cobb salad, small; bleu cheese dressing
S: Iced coffee
D: Skillet chicken

Here's what I made last night:

4 slices bacon
1 brick cream cheese
4 chicken breasts
some chopped onion
spices as desired

Fry bacon, remove from pan, and saute seasoned chicken in grease. Add chopped up cream cheese when chicken is nearly done, plus onion. Allow cream cheese to melt, stir, simmer, add whatever additional spices you like.

It was like a chicken in cream sauce. DH liked it; DS did not. But I don't think he likes cream cheese, now that I think about it.

Hi Christine! Glad things are better.

I LOVE cream cheese. I will have to try that recipe. It sounds so simple and good.

You know, now that I think about it, I had to give up my coffee and sodas a few months ago because of heart palpitations. About that time, I was able to break a stall that I was in for about 6 weeks. Maybe there is a connection and it would work for you to cut back and see what happens?

Have a great day!

Hugs, Jenna

I just switched over to using coconut milk and CO in my coffee, and it's delicious! I was thinking that maybe HWC was causing the problem. I put the Co and Coconut milk in my frother and poured it on top of my coffee. Very tasty! I'll be back later with some weightlifting stats because there has been some progress!

Christine! Swinging by to shake my money maker, watch you shake yours, and scoop some recipes. Can't wait to see your lifting stats!

Amber I hope that surgical thingy goes smoothly and doesn't disrupt your workouts! I too have to keep an eye on things. If I eat fat "to satisfaction" I find I end up eating WAY too much to lose weight. (My "satisfaction" meter is clearly broken - doesn't matter what sort of food we are talking about!)

Hope you ladies are heading into a great weekend.

Hello, ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. So that chicken/cream cheese thing I made the other night? I had leftovers, so today I cut a cucumber lengthwise (without peeling it; it was from my garden), scooped out the center and mixed it with the chicken, etc. Then I put the chicken mix into the cucumber "boat" and ate it for lunch. Delicious! Crunchy like a panini! (Well, ok. In my vast imagination it was like a panini!)

I can't efficiently post my lifting stats because I can't figure out how to keep the formatting, but I will post one section to see if it works:

Dips 8x18 8x20 8x20 12x20 10x20 8x20 12x20 10x20 10x20
Pullups 4x20 4x20 4x20 6x20 5x20 4x20 8x20 6x20 6x20

Basically, this shows that on the first day of this particular set, I could do only three sets of 8 dips (the 20 refers to the setting on the machine. In this case, we'd like to see a LOW number because it refers to the amount of weight the machine supports. 20 is the highest and it's 110 lbs. So the machine supports 110 lbs of my weight while I perform the exercise). By the third day, I could do a set of 12, 10, and 10 reps! Pull ups started at three sets of four and moved to 8, 6, 6. I call that pretty good progress for three weeks!

Another good one: Triceps pushdown.

Triceps Push 12x70 10x75 10x75 12x75 10x80 10x80 12x80 12x80 12x80

Since I did three sets of 12 at 80lbs, I'll move up to 85lbs next week. Pretty good since I started at 70.

So I'm sore, I haven't lost any weight, my clothing fits the same, but I am getting stronger. That counts for something, right? Please say yes.

Food today:

B: Coffee with CO and Coconut milk
L: Cucumber boats
S: Coffee with HWC
D: Taco salad (lettuce, tomato, chicken, homemade dressing, sour cream, cheese)

Hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing Friday night! DH is sitting here playing guitar.

Christine I feel ya! Why doesnt the scale move when we workout so hard it is so frekaing unfair!!!!! And then my new trainer has me doing burpees, mountain climbers, step ups all that cardio inbetween steps, man my butt is dragging, he weighs me on Sunday I have not weighed myself, I figured I would let it control me so best not to weigh!

It sounds like you are moving up in weight and you want to be stronger because that means you are tearing down muscle and building more, one pound of gained muscle burns 50 calories a day at rest!!!! That is why I am concerned with building muscle I have a slug of a metabolism!

I wish I liked that coconut milk in my coffee, and the CO? I cant stand that greasy look to my coffee but I swear the liquid ez sweetz is to blame, my husband thinks one drop is too strong for a cup of coffee I put 4 in one cup, LOL

Curious to see the new workout on Sunday, bootcamp tomorrow that means my fat butt will be running!

Looks like I'm down a few pounds, finally. Not really weighing regularly, though; just doing some spot checks! I am taking measurements, though, and plan to do that every four weeks or so since my weightlifting plan is on 4-week rotations.

Amber, I am so down with building some muscle! I read so much conflicting advice about nutrition, though: One person says to eat "quick absorbing" carbs like a banana before working out, then protein after; other people say eat protein before and after; whatever. I'm just going to eat normally and hope for the best!

As for the CO and Cmilk, all I can say is that I choke it down. It's not my preference. But I put them in my stovetop frother, which seems to help a bit. But by the end of the cup.....blech. I'm only going to drink it that way in the morning. My second cup later in the day will definitely be with HWC!

So glad it's Saturday! DS and I are heading to some fun events on campus, then we really have no other plans. He can play outside with his friends, which he loves (last Saturday he was out for 8 hours!), and I'll do some laundry and plan our meals for the week (what a cosmopolitan life ).

Hope everyone has a great Saturday! Eat well!

OMG Christine! This week was so nuts, the laundry was unreal!!!! I know your schedule sounds like mine, laundry and obsess over what to cook all week, LOL I did make some jewelry yesterday though, hobby missed me not cutting rocks, so we had a fun day together, no kids!!!!

Got the workouts in, and did a little shopping, I dont know if your Bon Ton had this, but I got $50 off $100, and if you took in items for Goodwill they gave you 25% off each item, I scored!! I needed black shoes and a red blazer and I got those, finally!

Anyways have a good rest of the weekend!!!!!

Sounds like you are making great progress with everything. Glad for you that you are also down a few pounds. Super job!

Have a great day,

PS I love cucumbers and will try your idea of making them little "boats" for other ingredients, especially chicken.

Thanks, ladies! Great job, Amber!!

I am happy with the strength gains, and as my friend ScaleStepper says, I FEEL smaller. When I look in the mirror at the gym, I LOOK smaller (to myself! ). I don't have a whole lot of objective data, only a few pounds down and no changes in clothing, but I do feel like I'm making progress, and that has to account for something!

Now, granted, I didn't have a great nutritional day yesterday (Mexican! And then I baked cookies! And then I ate cookies!), but I'm trying not to get too worked up about it. One day after 9 of clean eating won't kill me, and in fact, maybe it'll do me some good.

Last week of phase one of my killer workout. Next week I go down in reps and up in weight. It's going to be tough. One thing I noticed is that my weight routine is now like a cardio routine. Heart rate is up, breathing is heavier, and I'm sweating. That never really happened before, which tells me that I wasn't working hard enough. I am really liking the current routine.

I hope that when I take my measurements, I can see some progress! I'll probably do that in another two weeks or so.

Have a great Monday!

Hi Christine!

Sounds like you are doing great, even though yesterday wasn't a great eating day for you. I honestly don't think, with all the clean eating you've been doing, that it will make a difference. You're good.

Your workout seems to really be the right fit for you. It seems as though you are really getting a good whole body workout. Way to go!

I hope you are having a great Monday night! Talk to ya soon!

Hugs, Jenna

Happy Tuesday!! I wake up every morning thinking, "Friday???" No, not yet.

Made crockpot wing chicken last night, and despite the fact that it was pretty spicy (my sauce is Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce, regular, not hot), it was pretty good. Even DS ate two servings of it!

I think I'm making spaghetti squash with alfredo/mushroom sauce tonight.

Not much news around here. Hope everyone is having a great week so far!
