Thanks, ladies! I'm glad we're getting closer to the beginning of the school year; I need the structure! I'll be dropping DS off at the bus at 7:15 am, so there's no reason that I can't workout every morning. And working out every morning will help me set the tone for the day in terms of eating! I need to get this in order; I've lost the same five lbs about 20 times, and I'm sick of it!

Hey there sweet lady! You and I both on the same 20 lbs! Right there with ya girlfriend.

DD16 started school last week, and I start back next Monday. I am looking forward to the structure as well, but not school. LOL It will be kinda chaotic for me actually, DD18 doesn't have a car yet so I have to schlep her to both work and school at the comm college for a few months... lonnnnnnnng days ahead I guess? Mother's work is never done is it, no matter how old they get!

hang in there honey, we're all here for you!♥

Hi Christine,

Here's to structure and a PLAN! That will get us ALL back on track. I need to get some motivation again, especially to exercise---no excuses. I also need to get over the cycle of losing/gaining five pounds. It is a drag.

Go for it! We're cheering you on!

Hugs, Jenna

I'm really hoping that getting back to a routine will help me get my head around this process. I've talked before about how 90% of this process is a mental one (for me), and I really believe that. My mental process these days is about how when confronted with the choice of being fit or eating brownies, I choose brownies.

Not good.

I had a GREAT day of clean eating, and then I went and blew it with some nachos and then -- later -- brownies. Overall, I'm sure I was well within reasonable calorie limits, but well over my typical carb intake. Today will be better.

Hye Christine, two all inclusive vacations back to back was not good for me, OMG I am so fat and so bloated it is unreal! With my new job starting I am trying to get into a routine too! I cannot believe how fast this summer went, my word! I notice a bog decrease in lifting, I was like a 90 year old woman, LOL But onward! I swear I am going to get below 200 and stay there by the end of the year!

Hi Ladies! Sorry for being MIA. Things have been........well. Intense, I guess. Back to the swing of things this week, though. Fortunately, I haven't suffered too much with regard to weight gain (though I am avoiding the scale like mad!). Just trying to make it through one day at a time! Exercise is BACK, though, which is a very good thing. It's built into my schedule, so I hope having a routine will be the key to success! Hope everyone is well. Thanks for your thoughts while I was away!!

I read a great article this weekend about the importance of heavy lifting for women. Long story short, I decided to change my entire weight lifting routine for the next three months, and I think it will help tremendously. I was already lifting pretty heavy, but this is heavier with fewer reps, so I'm hoping to see some good gains.

Now if I can get the food intake under control, things will be good. Target date: 12/7, which is 12 weeks from now.

Hi Christine,

Sounds like you have a great plan for changing up your exercise routine. It's important to keep things fresh and always open to change, especially when it comes to exercise. We'll look forward to hearing about how it goes!

I hope things are going well for you. Talk to ya soon!

I wished I would be more motivated to lift weights. I actually only use 2 lbs. when doing Zumba 2 days a week and use the water when I do laps for weight. I have a weighted 4 lb. ball here at home and I bounce that really hard on the ground and lift it above my head 50 x's in the morning and evening a few days a week as well. I can't seem to get into using the weight machines or the free weights at the gym, they bore me but when I do the routine I do I feel good about it. I am not sure this is all enough for my body but I enjoy it so I do it. Your routine sounds good and the eating, well I believe all that will come along when you see how hard you are working at the exercise. One day at a time, one day at a time. Have a nice Monday Christine.

One day at a time, for sure, Maggie! And doing what you're doing is a great way to incorporate some weight-bearing exercise.

Jenna, thanks for the support! I hope you are doing well, too. I need to catch up on your journal!

Blonde, thinking of you as always! Hope you are well.

Back to the gym this morning for the lower-body day. Yesterday's exercises were as follows (all with dumbbells):

Bench Press: 3 sets of 8-12 reps (20 lbs)
Bent Over Barbell Row: 3 sets of 8-12 reps (25 lbs)
Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 3 sets of 8-12 reps (20 lbs)
Skull Crushers: 3 sets of 8-12 reps (20 lbs) (My triceps are killing me today thanks to this one)
Barbell Curl: 3 sets of 8-12 reps (two sets with 12 lbs, one set with 15 lbs)

I love that it's few exercises but 3 sets. It didn't take long at all.

Food yesterday seemed sparse, but I felt really good:

B: Coffee w/ HWC
L: HB Egg, Coffee w/ HWC
D: Salad, bleu cheese dressing, crockpot chicken (wing sauce & cream cheese)

Lots of water, too. Here's hoping today is a good one!

That's quite the routine Christine! You are inspiring me to try some free weights. I need to add strength to my body. I'm so impressed by the weight of your, well, weights! I have 2lb and 5lb handheld.

You dinner sound delicious! How do you make your wings?

Thanks, Blonde! I worked up to it, believe me. I'm on workout number 557 or something like that, and I was handling the weights of that program so easily that I think I was not making the progress I needed to make. So now I switched it up to the heavier weights, and I am optimistic that this change will be a good one. I can already feel it, that's for sure!

As for the chicken dish, it's funny that you mention it: I'm eating some cold right now! Here's what I do:

Throw some chicken breasts in the crockpot
Top with 3/4 bottle of wing sauce (I use one particular brand because it's 0g carb; I can't recall what it is. Frank's wing sauce, maybe? Just check the labels carefully as there is a huge difference among brands)
Throw in 1 brick cream cheese and 1 envelope dry ranch (or make your own dry ranch mix, like I do. There are recipes online, and it's very simple)

Cook on low for 8 hours. Shred chicken with two forks. For the carb eaters in my house, I serve it on a steak roll. For me, I just dump it into a dish, and if I'm feeling particularly adventurous, I might top it with cheese .

The next day, I eat it cold, and it's like chicken salad but flavored like wings! Simple and delicious. In fact, the first time I made it, DH said it was the most exciting dinner I've ever made. He's a weirdo.
