Ah, ladies....I am very sorry for causing any undue concern!

Things here have not been great. Very serious health issues for FIL......I just can't even get into it right now.

Then our cat(s) started urinating all over the house, and I had to get rid of my (3 year-old!!!) leather couch. Very frustrating events.

Then I picked up a *last minute* teaching assignment (last minute as in on FRIDAY and the class started MONDAY).

DH.....not working.

DS......back to school. Doing ok, but homework is killing us.

I didn't get the job for which I interviewed, but honestly, given the situation with FIL, it's for the best. I was really torn about it and might not have taken it if offered. It wasn't "ideal," and for me to leave my current post, I need ideal.

Amid all of the drama, however, I did achieve something notable: Tomorrow I'll be finishing my third week of couch to 5k! I can run for a full five minutes at a time, which is something I never thought I'd be able to do!

Diet, however, has not been great. But my butcher opens again tomorrow after at 2-week vacation, so we are getting back in business.

And I am now going to try to be back here regularly!!! Thank you for your concern, and again.....I am sorry.

Christine- I know it is tough with life events, but glad you are back at it! Isnt C25K amazing??? Keep running maybe we can do our first 5K together!!!! We are doing a 1 mile race with the kids next weekend, I am scared for that, I let the running slide while I had stitches but I am really running again now trying to build up to where I was!!! I am back to maybe 1.75 miles, but I was at 2.25 miles so gotta get it back, I still hate running but I think its good to do it, LOL

Glad to see you back!!!!

Thanks, everyone! Amber, wtg on the running!! I am not looking forward to week four of C25k, which begins for me tomorrow! I also need new sneakers since I had to run through a bunch of puddles lately! Yuck. Good luck with your race, and maybe a 5k will be in our future!!

Thanks, Blonde!! Hope you are feeling better!

Running is pretty good right now; up to 18 minutes out of 30 (not in a row: 3 at a time, then three sets of five). I'm a little ahead of where I should be, which is motivating and helpful.

Lifting on T/Th, and that's going well. Diet is pretty good, but no "perfect" days. I decided that being perfect isn't reasonable but TRYING to be is. I had two bites of pasta yesterday; I think I'll survive.

The difficulty for me is that for about six months, I *was* perfect and saw good results. So I know I can do that and I know it can be effective for me. But at this point, I don't know how realistic it is. Looking at the long-term picture, I think I just need to do the best that I can.

Chrsitine- it is darn hard to expect us to be perfect all the time, that is a lot of pressure to put on ourselves, I strive for like 95%, LOL It keeps me on track but if I want something I eat it and then try to workout, planning a higher carb day once a week is pretty gratifying.

Hi Christine! I think I stole my quote about perfection from you, a long time ago. It was a coach, right? No matter what "plan" you are following, it's all about "lifestyle", and being able to live with your plan is important. We will always have to strive to keep our weight off, our fats cells have long memories, I think you are amazing!!

I think I stole it from you, Blonde! You are right: This is a lifelong thing, and I need to be mentally prepared for the long haul. I am feeling good about that idea today; I've taken the pressure off of myself a bit, and I think it influences my ability to be successful.

I'm also using different measures of success, and that's a big deal for me. Example: I ran 15 minutes straight today. Fifteen minutes!!! I have never done that in my life. I count that as good progress.....and success! It motivates me to keep going and to keep trying.

Many challenges are ahead, though. I have a killer schedule this semester, but nothing should interfere with my workouts, anyway (since I'm now working out a 7am). I just keep telling myself that there's nothing I can't do for 3 months. Plus, I do think that being on a tight schedule will work in my favor. Less time for random eating.

Christine- I know just how you feel, I swear I am more proud of the running than the weight loss, because never in a million years did I think I could ever run! Those horrible HS days of cross country runs and laps around the track I couldnt run when I was 16. I can so feel your excitement and it is something to be so proud of!!!! We gotta find a 5K close to us both and do one together maybe in the Spring! I am on a running thread here, tearing up the track, lots of experienced runners that are really supportive of newbies you should check it out, great people on there!

Moving ahead with running; still at about 15 minutes at a time. My program says I should be doing 5 minutes of running 3 walking, 8 running, 3 walking, 5 running this week, but I prefer to do it all in a straight shot. I go as far as I can, then walk for a few, then finish up so that I make whatever total running time I need per the plan.

Bought a new fancy pair of running shoes, and I'm enjoying those.

Lost a few pounds this week, and I'm enjoying that. Water weight, given that I was up about six times last night to hit the loo, but do you know what? Losing water weight is important. It's the water weight that makes me feel bloated and cinched at the waist. It's the water that makes my face look puffy. Therefore, water or not, I'm very pleased to bid it adieu!

Chrsitine- stick to the plan, that is how I took many steps backwards with the running I had that surgery and couldnt run for 3 weeks, then I was like balls to the wall and now I cant seem to get back, I am actually going back to C25k like week 5 leading up to the race and doing it right, although last night I ran 2 miles straight, only becuase somehow week 5 was not on my freaking ipod, so I had to download a bunch of weeks, like they disappeared, but anyway what I am saying in my round about way, that darn program is magic it works, so stick to it!!!! You are doing great!!!

Wow, Amber! TWO MILES?!?! That is awesome!! I am definitely trying to stick to the program, but this week, it called for a 10r/3w/10r on Wednesday, and then today is supposed to be a 25 minute run! Um, what?!? Anyway, I'm still at 15 minutes, but I will try to push myself beyond that in the coming days.

Long time, no see, but things are moving along here. I run a seasonal business, and we're in full swing right now, so not much time to spare, unfortunately! Back on track, but 10lbs away from my low.

It happens, though, right? The important thing is that I'm back on track. Doing some dreadmill running in preparation for a mini iron woman race in March. What am I thinking?

Zumba no longer fits into my schedule, so I've been lifting and running, mostly. Backed off the running a bit because I don't really want to up the carbs yet. In a few weeks, maybe. Right now, I'd like to go down another 8 or so in the next four weeks. Class reunion time.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Ughg Christine I just had my 25th, ughgg, I am getting old!!!

I am struggling getting back with the running, but I have ran everyday since Fri, the race is 11/5, it is good to have a race to look forward to to keep you moving, I have to eat more carbs with the running and gym, or I am too dead, but it does make the weight loss slower.

Its a real struggle I am not back to 2 miles without stopping, I hate this cold air, I liked running in the heat far better!
