Hi Christine! Congrats on the 180!

I'm hijacking your thread to ask you (and Jan) if you will help with the new thread a little. I will drop in there every day but it's growing already and I don't want anyone to feel left out. I think you and Jan and Dawn have a lot to offer as far as wisdom, and "stick-ability" to your plan and maintenance. You are all very successful and you're all very sympathetic and encouraging at the same time. (Flattery will get you everywhere), but I'm just speaking the truth!

I know you'd be much happier if I keep the chocolate on a stick, just out of reach.

Last time I slipped down into the 170s (January), I could feel myself burning out and knew I needed a break. I'm glad I listened and took some time to recalibrate. It meant that I put on six pounds (mostly water, given that it has come off in a week!), but most importantly, it meant that I could rest my brain. When I'm at this full-force, I think about it A LOT. I plan A LOT. I research A LOT. And after six months, it really took its toll (similar to what happens to people who are involved in intense projects at work or school for an extended period of time). So for about six weeks, I stopped thinking and stopped the hard-core planning and stopped reading this site for an hour every night and every morning.

And what happened?

I ate mostly on plan, just naturally. I was clearly OFF plan for part of the time, but not in an unhealthy, extreme way. I wouldn't have lost any weight doing what I was doing, but I wouldn't have gained any (real) weight, either.

It was good to see that I can do this without being as attentive as I was for six months. I can maintain.

But now it's time to do the last leg of this race-that-has-no-real-finish. I really need to push through the next three months and get to where I need to be.

Fortunately, my head is back in the game, as I think, plan, read, and research. I'm grateful to have that luxury, and I hope it pays off in spades come June.
This is exactly what I needed to read today.. thank you so much! You have a wonderful perspective and I am cheering you on from PA!!!!

180.6 today

Woke up at 3am needing to chug down some water. Might have had too much salt yesterday! Now that I think about it....yeah. I did. I made an alfredo sauce last night that included 1/2 stick of salted butter, plus a piece of coconut bark that included butter, plus my eggs in the morning cooked in butter, plus some bacon in the morning. What did I have for lunch? I don't remember. Oh, roast beef and a string cheese.

I posted this out in the main lobby because I really want to have chocolate in my life, and I don't think the SF chocolate is going to work for me. It looks like lots of people include chocolate as part of their lives, and I'm glad to see that there are some options. I like dark chocolate, so I'm going to find myself a good, fancy brand and just eat a little bit at a time.

I also went back to coconut bark yesterday, and I'm hoping that until I get the good fancy chocolate, I can limit myself to one piece of that per day after work or dinner. It's an experiment.

Also? I added this to my MP3-player and perhaps I should be totally ashamed, but I'm not. It's good workout music.

HAHAHAHA SPICE GIRLS!!!

My younger sisters loved the movie they made... We had one of those high top vans with a TV and VCR in it... And we actually had two copies of the movie... one for the house and one for the car.

Regardless of where we were, the movie was playing and I still know it by heart.

Hope all is going well, I have been swamped at work and thus been avoiding computers like the plague the past several days (I work on a computer all day long).

Funny! I never saw the movie, as I was too old at the time to really "appreciate" the Spice Girls, but I do remember little girls being absolutely gaga over them! Sorry to hear you're swamped at work, but I hope you're doing well otherwise!

I managed to manipulate time yesterday. I figured out that the longest minutes are HIIT minutes. I was sure I had been HIIT-ing it for at least a minute, but I looked down and it had been only 30 seconds. HIIT is intense! But I do like it so far, and it keeps me motivated and interested. I like that I can do some cardio in the gym; I really, really hate cardio machines (hence the reason I do zumba) and avoid them at all costs. But this is much better than pedaling to nowhere; 20 minutes flies right by (well, with the exception of the minutes I'm doing HIIT! Those take forever).

I am really ready to be firmly in the 170s. I looked back at my chart and I was there for about a half-second in January before I derailed a bit, and now I am really, really ready to be back there. I set a fairly small goal for March (175), which I believe I can do, even though my loss is probably going to slow down considerably. I'm looking forward to the second half of the month because -- for some reason -- my chart shows that I typically lose faster in the second half of each month. I hope that holds true this month as well!

You'll get there, Jan! I just know it. Are you still doing planks? I'm up to 30 modified push-ups. Yay.

Big news here at the money-maker journal: I have ramped up my "fit by forty" theme by taking serious strides toward financial fitness. We aren't in bad shape, but things could always be better, and I have made a plan to have us free from all consumer debt within 18 months. It's aggressive and it assumes no major life changes (illness, employment, etc.), but I am optimistic that I can make it happen. And if I CAN, then that means that we'll have much more discretionary income for the business, investment, donations, etc.

So my plan is that when I turn 40 (about 700 days from now, give or take), I will be a 150 lb. citizen with good muscle mass who is free from consumer debt.

We shall see!

Check out these bad boys. They're like little chocolate easter eggs. I made them in my deviled egg container, but a candy mold would work. I'm trying to get the SF chocolate out of my life, so I thought that I'd use a piece of this a day instead:

4T butter
2 T coconut oil

Melt in sauce pan, then remove from heat.

Whisk in 2T unsweetened cocoa (I use dark) and 1 T vanilla whey protein powder

Pour into container of choice and freeze (use nonstick spray*)

I'm hesitant to post recipes like this because my tastes are really off, and I often like things that other people don't. But if this appeals to you, go for it! They're not temperature stable, though, and need to be kept in the freezer.

Did Zumba yesterday...good workout. Clean eating all week, and today: 181.4. Whatevs, scale! Can't wait for my weigh-in next week (10 days from now) to see my detailed numbers!

*I originally planned to use baking non-stick spray, but when I read the ingredients, I saw that it includes WHEAT. Seriously? WHEAT? The carb count is listed as zero, but I still didn't want to use it, so I just used my regular cooking n/s spray (olive oil).

Is it weird that I'm looking forward to eating dinner in the cafeteria tonight?? I have to run a seminar at 6, so I'll grab dinner there first...I love the salad bar!! I used to love the millions of desserts, but now I breeze right by that and get to the BACON!!! They have fresh bacon on the salad bar, which I love on a salad of spinach, cucumbers, and bleu cheese.

7am and I'm already thinking about dinner!

Salad bar was great! Had the salad I dreamed of, PLUS some roasted turkey on the side. Delicious. Blonde, the seminar was on leadership. Another one this afternoon.

I realized this morning that I will need a new bathing suit this year. Is there anything worse than shopping for a bathing suit? Not really.

There you are!!! I was wondering where you've been hiding! Glad to see you! How are things?

I failed to make an update about my push-up and ab progress. I'm up to fifty modified push-ups and 200 reps in the ab series. I alternate, though:

25 push-ups
100 ab reps
25 push-ups
75 ab reps
10 push-ups
25 ab reps

I know that's sixty push-ups, but I don't really count the last 10 because they're not high-quality. I don't attempt to break up the reps in any organized fashion; I just do what I can do and then move onto the next exercise. So last week, for example, my push-ups were 25, 15, 10 because that's the way I could do them. But I get stronger by the week, and I'm hoping to bang out fifty at one shot by the end of next month.

I'm heading to the gym this morning, as a matter of fact. I normally try to go during the day, but today and tomorrow are just too busy for that, so I'll head over after I drop DS at the bus. I'm also fighting a cold, which is extremely annoying!! Come on, summer!!!
