Journey To ONEderland

Hello and welcome to my journal. I felt like last time around that the journal kept me grounded and was a great way to look at where I had been and be proud of where I was going.

So yes I've returned to the world of weight loss which is somewhat sad, but also it's my own fault for going back to an unhealthy lifestyle. I was so very close to my goals last time and I let it all fly out the window for some carby foods and slacking off on exercise. I'm not sure why I ever stopped because weight loss is the ultimate drug and kept me on a high for months. I had so much newfound energy and I was slowly gaining a life instead of just staying home and sitting around.

Enough with the pity party, I'm here again and I'm going to stay and this time I will make it to my goal weight and maintain it.

A little about me you ask? Well I am a twenty eight year old male from Arkansas, Paragould to be exact. I have more or less been on the heavy side since highschool and I've always let it hold me back. It's my security blanket to some degree I think.

Currently I am on my forth week of induction level eating and plan to stay on it until I've met goal. I am also exercising, doing a running program in the mornings and a workout video in the afternoons.

I started back on Low Carb at a hefty weight of 310 pounds. That really scared me to see a big fat "3" on the scales. I just can't be someone who weighs that much and be okay with it. I have lost fifteen pounds thus far as of last Monday and normally I would have weighed this morning, but I was in a rush so we'll know tommorow how it goes.

Anyway, stick around, hopefully I can inspire you and you can inspire me to continue my journey down to goal weight.

Wow, I really need to update more often.

Not very much to mention really. I've started doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred every other afternoon and it's really a workout. I'm sure I will see some inches shed with this if Jillian doesn't do me in, lol.

I am down to 290lbs now which means twenty pounds of total loss. I'm proud of it and proud that I've stayed on plan without cheating. I'm really ready to start seeing results though because I've yet to go down a pant size, the 40's are very very loose, but the 38 still won't button. I'm sure it will hit eventually, but I'm not patient and want it now.

I'm considering doing a Zero Carb week and seeing how that goes. I've seen some people with much success on that and maybe it could help some. I'm not sure I can be happy on just proteins though because I love my salads.

Thanks Star! It's nice to see the 200's again. Seeing 310 on the scale really freaked me out before. I can't wait for under 250 again though, those were really good times, lol.

I'm starting the week off on a good note. I did my weekly weigh in and am down another five pounds which brings me to two eighty five. I have lost twenty five pounds in total since August 16th. I'm really happy about this and just feeling great. I celebrated with some bacon and eggs.

Side note there, if you make a fried egg, don't let it cook so long that it makes the yellow part hard, that was not good at all, lol. I'm slowly learning to become a better cook and normally I always scramble my eggs, but thought I'd try something different today. Yuck!

alasse, I'm not really that far from Hardy, maybe an hour and a half. I drive through there on my way to Lake Norfork in the summer. I love it up there, it's really beautiful.

Lisa, I just can't stand the mushy taste of the eggs like that, I guess I grew up with em runny and that's how my tastes have stayed, lol.

I just finished my afternoon workout with Jillian. I felt a little bad, I was totally phoning most of it in. She's just about to kill me though, lol. I guess it's better to do some than nothing at all though right?

Definitely! Some is always better than none! Keep up the great work!

And a tip on the eggs: When I'm frying them, I flip them once, turn off the heat, and cover them for a minute or so. They'll probably be just as you like them!

I tried that this afternoon and it worked well! I made a really nice dinner, well sort of pre-dinner. I have been a hog today, bacon and eggs for breakfast, meatballs for lunch, and then bacon and eggs again for dinner and then a cheese pizza melt, well a small one anyway. I'm not sure why I'm so hungry today.

Sometimes it goes that way; I have a few days/month where I'm hungrier than others (mostly due to hormones, but sometimes also due to heavier workouts). Just eat when you're hungry. Are you doing zero carb now? I wonder if maybe you need the bulk from the vegetables to help fill you up.

I'm going to do 5-10 carbs per day starting next week. I had already bought groceries for the week when I thought about doing that and I didn't want them to go to waste, so I'm going to grab some meats and stuff on Saturday. I am going to go to Sams Club and stock up. I'm not really sure what to get though, some steaks maybe?

Hey- Just stumbled across your journal-- wanted to say good luck! I know it's really hard being in your 20's and LCing... at least it is for me. I'm 27, and am always going out to eat, happy hour, drinks etc. with friends. Hopefully you're having an easier time than I am! Keep up the good work! You're going to be at goal in no time.

Well thank you Dr. Samantha.

It's actually not as hard as I thought it would be. I mean I've done this before and gotten used to working out what I eat when I go out and stuff. The hardest thing this time around has been keeping it quiet. I guess I want to keep it a secret until it's too obvious in case I fail, I don't want everyone going, oh well Seth still couldn't do it, you know?

Starting the VLC week today, feeling pretty good so far. I am about to grill a steak on the George Foreman grill since I'm fairly limited in that department, lol.

Weight Update! This morning I was sitting right at 280lbs which brings my total down to 30lbs since August 16th! I lost another five pounds this past week! I'm so excited. 280 is still a big number, but it's going down. I officially have another hundred pounds to go to get to goal weight. It sounds like alot, but I know I can do this.

Sitting towards the end of my Very Low Carb week and it's been a challenge to some degree, but I've felt pretty good. I'm surprised at how full I can be on just meat and cheese, so much so that I skipped dinner once. I'm really curious to see the difference on the scales. I am normally losing five a week and at my current weight, it's easy to drop that, now when I get smaller, it will slow, I know this. So if on Monday I'm not more than five pounds smaller, I'll probably go back to eating veggies because I do miss them.

I might return to VLC when I'm smaller and need to continue shrinking down. But we'll see.

In personal news, I'm trying very hard to deal with a toxic relative who continues to cause trouble both within the family and our place of work. If anything, she makes this weight loss an even more desired thing. It's wrong and I know I should take the high road, but I really cannot wait to be so much lighter and then when she makes a fat comment to just look at her and say, hey I think I'm smaller than you, you might want to go on a diet.

Thanks Meek! I'm glad you stopped by.

Well this morning I weighed in at 277 lbs which is not as much as I wanted to lose, but I shouldn't complain about it right? I am a bit discouraged because my weight loss isn't as fast as it was last time, but then I have to think about things, I was doing so much more exercise last time and I've GOT to get my unmotivated butt out the door in the mornings and start walking again. I just feel so lazy in the mornings anymore I guess, but I have got to do it. I think that's most likely why those size 38 jeans arn't fitting yet.

I went to bed early last night and got up early this morning in time to go for a thirty minute walk. I managed to do a mile around the track and I feel really good about that. I need to make sure and stay with it and not stop because I know the exercise is what helped me so much last time.

Well today I might have thrown myself off plan slightly. I went out to dinner with my family, who do not know I'm low carbing again, and nothing on the menu was low-carb besides the steaks and they didn't have them for the lunch menu. I ended up getting a chicken salad with Thousand Island. I'm sure it won't hurt me, but I've been doing VLC or some days ZC and I felt like I was cheating a little.

I weighed this morning as part of the 10 Week Challenge group and was somewhat dissapointed to see only two pounds lost which brings me down to 275lbs firm. I think that this whole aspect of doing VLC or ZC had me thinking I would be losing more than my typical five pounds a week and this is two weeks of less than five pounds lost. I'm not sure if it's the way I'm eating or if it's just normal to start slowing down, but I know in the past that I lost a typical five pounds a week until I got down to around 250 and then it slowed.

I am going to go back to "normal" low carb eating this week. Salads for lunch and meat for dinner and see if this gets me back to where I was. If I just lose another two or three pounds, then I might go back to VLC/ZC because I do enjoy it. I think this time it's all very much trial and error when it comes to my weight loss. The game has totally changed since the last round.

I felt a little like a cheater last night, I ate a whole bag of shredded lettuce. I was falling back onto old habits, portion control overload. I ate a salad using half the bag of lettuce and then it tasted so good that I went back to finish it off. I was full after the first helping, but I just went back again. I wasn't hungry, this was bored eating. I have to continue to correct this as portion control and eating junk is what got me fat in the first place.

I am going back to normal low carb eating this week so I'm hoping for some movement on the scales. I would love to be 270lbs by Sunday.

I also upped the walking this morning by doing another lap.

I have finally achieved a non-scale victory this afternoon! I slipped on some size 38 jeans and they fit! They fit really well and they're not cutting off circulation to wear them! It feels so good to finally have some proof that this WOE is going somewhere and I'm starting to shrink.
